Your experience with ecost...

Hey, I was wondering what you guys think of ecost.com

I ordered Gran Turismo 4 from there before Christmas; they had it for $44.99, but it still hasn't shipped. I also noticed that it's now listed for $40.99. I called them and asked if I could get the lower price, and they said I would have to cancel my order and re-order, which would put me in last place on the list (evidently they're backordered).

Has anyone here ordered a new game from them? How long does it usually take them to ship out new games?

It kind of pisses me off that they wouldn't just give me the cheaper price, but I guess if I wanted it that badly I could just re-order. Oh well. What are some of your experiences with ecost?

I had my Halo 2 CE pre-order with them, when they were doing it with free shipping @ $37.99, in early July. Right before it was to be released, they ended up having their system auto-cancel out orders, because it was so far in advance of the product being released. After a few phonecalls, I managed to get the to correct their mistake, get my order for the right price, and had them upgrade the shipping to priority overnight.

It did take a bit of time and about an hour's time on the phone to get it all worked out, which soured me to doing any time of long-standing pre-order with them. I have done a couple of orders for non-game stuff with them, and they've been passable. It's complete crap that they can't change the price, you haven't received the item, so you should get it for the lower price. Worst case, they should be able to do a credit for the difference and have that applied after the fact, once your order ships.

I've had no problems ordering from them, but then again, I've never ordered video games there, only computer hardware.

Thanks for the info guys. Sounds like for older stuff that they're sure to have in stock, ordering from ecost shouldn't be a problem.

As far as new releases go, I'm going to stay away in the future :?

You put that order in before CHRISTMAS? You should emphatically remind them how long you've been waiting and that as a measure of good faith they should lower the price to compensate you for a two-month delay.

I second that thought!
