It's so slow that it is useless. I used to be able to run 1080p videos instantly, now 360p videos (sometimes) buffer too much. And 1080p videos take up to 30 minutes to fully load.

And I got a great PC and 20mps DL speed... anyone else having troubles lately?

I've been having this problem for about 2 weeks now. It sucks especially when I'm trying to view SC2 commentaries and there are 4 parts to a game. The only times I notice YouTube loading fast are around 1-8 PM EST. The busiest hours seem to give me the best results.

Edit - Just loaded up a couple of videos and they loaded fine. Just about 1-2 seconds slower than the video playing.

Youtube has been shit for a few months now. EVERYTHING takes ages to load. I used to be able to watch stuff on the fly no matter the resolution, but now I have to let every video sit for at least five minutes before I'm able to watch it without interruption.

For the last few months I was having the same issues at around 6-11pm. But the last week or so has been a big improvement. Just went to the site and 720p videos were loading pretty smoothly, although I only tried 2 videos.

Wow, I thought I was the only one having problems. For about 2 weeks now, I've noticed significant slow-down on some videos. YouTube's streaming now pales in comparison to just about any other site that streams video.

Good thing I'm not alone. Friggen annoying as hell... I miss being able to watch SC2 replays in 1080p instantly and not worry about letting it buffer. Gah...

Not sure if this is the root of the problem, but I use to have this problem as well. I use Firefox (Which is great), the problem wasn't Firefox it was a plug-in I had. The plug-in allowed me to download YouTube, Daily Motion, and other video website movies. I noticed that YouTube got very slow, and had many problems (even had problems with Amazon loading). I got rid of the Plug-in and YouTube, and all these other sites are working fine.

So check out Dailymotion and see if that works, if it works fine then YouTube is the problem. Checking out what plug-ins you have might be the root of your problem.
I have been having issues also sometimes I'll be watching a video then it will go into an endless buffer about half way through.
I noticed that too but the load times don't seem to be bad for me not even in 720p since my macbook wont run 1080p

I had that issue in the first quarter of this year, where 1080p was useless because it took too long to download. About a week before that, 1080p was made an option, and it was lightning fast.

At least it's back to normal for me. Well, usually. I occasionally have to refresh to get it to download faster again.

I'm noticed it depended on the video, sometimes it would load fast on one video and on another it wouldn't load so fast (or even at all).

Kind of weird, but then again Youtube has millions of users on it at once with a bunch of users uploading videos as well.

I also had this app that let you download videos, it was complete crap, a lot of times while trying to watch a video it would "download" the video and make the video unplayable on Youtube. I can't remember the name of it, but don't get it.

Youtube performs maintenance and upgrades on its servers pretty often and regularly, so it may be that they're working on a server that you happen to connect to.

I remember about a month ago, for roughly 2 weeks, Youtube was complete and utter shit for me, but it has since passed and now works as it used to.

Not sure if the servers are just up and down (in terms of speed) or what, but I deleted this thing on my computer called Panda Media Boost and then watched some youtube videos and they were running fine. Maybe just a coincidence with the Youtube servers? Dunno.

Pando Media Boost is used by many games to install. Digital Trash.

knock knock.
who is there at my door and knocking on it with such force?
you.
you who?
yoohoos are delicious
also youtube ahahaha joke

Well glad to see it's more than just me. I thought since queerholes at Verizon dropped my DSL speeds for no fucking reason that was the reason.

I hope they somehow fix the problem because I don't mind buffering videos but when they buffer at like 1% every 30 seconds, we have a problem.
