Zombie Estate - Xbox Indie ($1) Like an 8-bit Left 4 Dead

Rooster752

CAGiversary!
Anyone who likes left 4 dead and 8 bit games has to check this out. Its kind of like what that NES L4D game was trying to accomplish, but it actually succeeds. Its a pixelated gorefest with tons of zombies, weapon upgrades and 4 player local co op. It is kinda ugly (in a charming retro way), but a lot of fun and the soundtrack is awful (provide your own). But for a buck, its awesome, especially if you have friends to play with.

It is really fun...especially with a co-op couch buddy. It was an instant-buy for me...

Several really fun dollar games out lately...love the indie games!

Picked this up just because of this thread and played four rounds last night. I have already gotten my money's worth - thanks for the heads up OP. Nice Find for $1.

Glad you guys are liking the recommendations! My site reviews a lot of indie games, and I post the good ones on here for people to discuss. I generally don't post links to my negative reviews cause that's just spamming, but there are lots of great indie games out there that I do want to draw attention to. Glad you guys are enjoying them!

My gf and I love killing zombies!

Rooster: Armless O should check out/review Apple Jack next. It's my latest 80-point-worthy purchase. The quirky British-accented silliness had me saying "I'm buying this one if it has more than 50 levels" while playing the demo. Lo and behold, it advertised having 100 levels and the rest is $1 history.

Zombie Estate didn't quite make the cut for me. It was enjoyable, but already having Mega Monster Mania with its clean gauntlet style and random levels is enough for me. If ZE was pixel-smooth and fast like Rocket Riot I probably would have enjoyed it enough to buy.

Always good to see your XBLA reviews/news here, especially since M$ tends to keep them in a dark corner like an ugly cousin at a quincaenera. (I still have yet to see any news on the blade about Dream-Build-Play other than the Old Spice rubbish)

Kerig,
I actually have someone working on a review right now, so its going to be up this week! Also have stuff on Kaleidoscope and Gerbil Physics 2.

If you're looking for Dream Build Play info, I have a ton of stuff up on that. Interviews with the top four winners are up, and an interview with numbas 5 and 6 in the works! Thanks for the kind words :)

Your reviews are pretty good. You do a much better job than the guy(s) at xnplay. You should definitely do a Apple Jack review. It has some clever puzzles and seems to have a lot of content for $1.

The sequel is out today.

I just bought it, will report back if it is as good as the original, though for 80 points, i don't mind giving the maker more of my money.

Hey thanks for posting about the sequel, I would have never seen that. I bought the original maybe like a year or 2 ago? I loved it, I'll definitely support that indie dev and buy the sequel.
