Okay, what's below is what I first posted, but this is more what I should have put I think.

>$30,000 = 0
$30,000-$75,000 = 5%
$75,001-$125,000 = 10%
$125,001-$200,000 = 15%
$200,001-$500,000 = 20%
$500,001-$1million = 25%
$1million-$5million = 30%
$5million+ = 50%
You make -- You Pay

$200,000 -- 30%
Comments? That is probably on the high side of my thoughts actually. Sometimes I think it should be less for most of these categories.

ok... Is that just for federal? or does that include Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid?

What about state taxes, property taxes, and sales taxes?

Just federal for now. The other stuff starts to get fairly complicated, although personally I would make Social Security 100% optional. It's quite a bit lower than current federal tax rates.
If you earn less than $50K you pay NOTHING.

After $50K you pay 22%. No deductions, no allowances, no credits etc.

That's it. That's my plan.
But you support trickle-down economics (the Bush plan).

Flip-flopper!

Get rid of the current tax structure and replace it with a national sales tax. No more tax forms and April deadlines to deal with! This is basically a flat tax since everyone would pay the same rate.

I think the government would make more from this. Just think of all teh cash drug dealers, pimps and hoes spend!
God knows I all da money dem hoes give me is tax free!
Wait, does that mean I can't write off my visits to the "massage parlor" as tax breaks?

As long as its business related... I guess it would be ok.
Keep the current system but lower rates on the wealthy.

That's the stupidest thing I have read so far on this board.

What a fucking idiot!

Many of the nations uber rich are saying that poor people should pay 50%, which they consider a fair share. Then lower the taxes for rich people.

>1,000,000 tax is 13%

Really why should Social Security be optional? I don't feel like suddenly seeing seniors on the street asking for a handout homeless because they don't receive Social Security. Not to be an ass but I think the people that make so little and are struggling to survive NEED to have that money taken out because otherwise it will NEVER get saved. Now I'm waiting, rip on me all you want. Am I saying all are like that? No but that may normally be the case.
You'll never get rid of it though. Seniors are one of the most powerful voting blocks ever.

By saying it should be optional I didn't mean that people recieving Social Security and relying on it for their retirement funds who paid into it their entire lives should suddenly be cut off from what they were led to believe was their savings. I don't know where you got that from, frankly. IMO Social Security is a socialist program that should be phased out, or at least made voluntary over time. At the very most the government might require you to save something for retirement, although I feel this is an infringement on my rights as well and stupid socialist policy.

But I do agree, it probably won't be gotten rid of because people see the system as desirable, even though saving themselves privately would yield much, much greater returns. At most Bush's plan of very small private accounts might be enacted. Too bad we're saddled with this ill-concieved socialist dinosaur.
