Don't buy Activision products

DavidJD

CAGiversary!
In the current issue of The New Yorker, in the Talk of the Town section, there's a piece that's partly about Bobby Kotick, CEO of Activision, who attended the recent Republican Party convention in NYC. It quotes him as saying he likes the Democrats for their platform, but the Republicans because he doesn't want to pay taxes.

This is one of the mostly richly rewarded individuals in the wealthiest nation on earth, and he doesn't want to pay his fair share for the immense privileges he receives. What a jerk!

I'm a republican and Activision is my favorite of the gaming developers so just because of this forum I will go out and buy a Activision game.

You can't really fault the guy for voting for the candidate whose policies benefit him the most. We need to focus on the majority whom are getting the shaft in this administration.

He probably said it jokingly, but even if he didn't, so what. He didn't say he doesn't pay taxes, just that he doesn't want to. Yeah, if he actually meant he wants to pay no taxes at all, then he is wrong, but I don't see it as a reason to boycott Activision. I'm sure a lot of CEOs of a lot of companies do many things of which I do not approve. When it is a capital W wrong, I will boycott, but this seems like more of a lower-case w.

The point is, we should not do business with anybody who employs somebody who doesn't like things we think everybody should like.

I agree, it is not a very good point, but it seems that it is the one that the OP was making.

Damn the CEO of Activision for thinking of himself! Only people who have earned nothing and want handouts are allowed to think like that!

Yeah! Lets boycott them, force them into bankruptcy, and put a couple hundred or thousand out of work just because the CEO says he supports the republican party because he doesn't care for paying taxes.

BRILLIANT!!!

If you were going to boycott products of a company that has what could be described as a money grubbing jerk for a CEO, then you probably would end not buying too much of anything. Just about every CEO loves money, especially their money. And seeing as how we live in a capitalist society then they have every right to do so (as long as it's legal of course).
Or how about not buy the products because most Activision games suck anyway?
If someone thought that, at least THAT would be a valid reason for not buying something (I think they have some good ones though).

Yeah, the games they made a few years ago (epescially Bridge Commander, Elite Force and the Tony Hawk games) were better than their new stuff.
