ok my friend bought this game and just called me saying that it wouldnt work, when he would start a game the players would move choppy and it would look like there were layers missing (what he said, he is in another state so dont ask thats all i know)

all his res and details were lowest, so i showed him how to find out what kind of video card he has and its a nvidia geforce 4 mx420

he said nhl requires Direct X 9.2b from what i read onlie his vid card only supports driect x 8, is that the problem or could it be something else (the rest of his specs are fine)
his card has enough ram tho.
i couldnt find the nhl specs online or else i would post them
just cuz it gots ram doesnt mean its powerful performanse wise.

here's what i found over at the ea forums:

Operating System: XP, ME, 2000, 98
CPU: 700 MHz or faster
RAM: 128 MB or more
Disc Drive: 8x or faster CD/DVD drive
Hard Drive: 820 MB of free space
Video: DirectX 8.1 compatible video card*
Sound: DirectX 8.1 compatible sound card
Input: keyboard, mouse, or gamepad
Online: 56k modem

* Video card must be 32 MB or more and contain one of these chipsets: Nvidia GeForce 256 or greater, ATI Radeon 7200 or greater, Matrox Parhelia, SiS 315 or Xabre

Well here's the deal, tell him to upgrade directx, the reason for the choppiness very well could be the card, it might be too slow, or his proccessor. Just tell him to upgrade directx first, his card WILL work with versions over 8. That might fix the texture issues, it might also fix the chopiness. Just tell him to check that first, if that doesnt work, he might just need to upgrade his card. Cause the specs you found were for minimal play, that means it will play but your not going to like it. What are his systems specs?

i had him upgrade to DX 9.3 and it still happened

im not 100% sure of his system specs, i am almost positive he has a p4, no clue about his processer mhz. i know he has the ram, hd space and all that, thats why i thought it was his video card, but i know nothing about video cards Xop

kinda off topic here, but where did youre friend get nhl 2005 for the pc already? i thought it didnt come out until sometime next week or the week after...

edit: i see the pc version came out earlier, my bad
