Minimum value: $8 per game. Can be a mix of different platforms.

Can be combined with the trade up promotion.

So you can trade 10 games and get 300 off! (PAY $399.99)
OR you can trade in 10 games, and 1 xbox (OR ANY OTHER COMBINATIONS IN THE TRADE UP PROMO) and get 400 off! (PAY $299.99)

how long is this deal going on for? sounds pretty tempting...just have to find 10 games that i can trade in...and the other $400 to pay for the ps3 hahah
Yes $400 is still too much. They're asking you to trade in more good games than you can buy
Man I disagree.. The crapola I traded in was well worth the discount, and I managed to trade in a whole bunch of stuff I don't need/want anymore, so my ps3 and hdmi cable came out to $240 bucks. Whooo!

Nice. I would have to sale the promo is all about who does it. Good deal for some bad for others. If you work hard at it you can find games at pawn shops and such. Plus find a cheap xbox in the paper or net and get the 100$ aswell.

i am probally waiting when the PS3 drops to $300, then i will buy one.
I'd be all over this deal for a $300 PS3. Sometimes, you Canucks get lucky.
QFT. I would've jumped on this, considering I have a ton of games that would make the deal worth it.

Not sure how long the deal is going to last but it was listed on their website yesterday.

I just went in to take advantage of this deal and managed to get $520 off a new PS3 (at Toronto - Dufferin Mall EB Games, 10am Tuesday). I think the clerk punched it in wrong, but who am I to complain. He bumped up 10 games with TIV >8$ to 26$ (260 off the 259 price), which is the deal I expected, but he also bumped up all the games between 3-8$ TIV to 10$ and I had a lot of games (17 in that range, to be exact). Finally, I got a good price on Zelda: TP ($40), Rayman Raving Rabbids ($38) and Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitzy ($22) for the Wii. Unfortunately I don't have accurate TIVs for everything since the recent only has the bumped up values. And even worse I couldn't find an HDMI cable anywhere in the mall (which I suppose wasn't too surprising)

>8
DS - Meteos
DS - Warioware Touched
DS - Yoshi Touch & Go
DS - Mario & Luigi Partners in Time
DS - Mario Kart DS
DS - New Super Mario Bros.
PS2 - We Love Katamari
GC - Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles
360 - Perfect Dark Zero
360 - Rockstar Table Tennis

There are 17 other games between 3-8 dollars that got bumped but I'm not going to list them all here. If I can find the 45 minutes it's going to take I'll try to update the TIV wiki page. There are a few on there that I know aren't 8$ anymore.
did anyone ever find out the ending date on this?
this promo could end anytime. Most EB employees don't even know when promos starts and ends. If the employees don't know about a promo, tell them to check the binder with the company emails.
being canadian does have its advantages sometimes heheh
blahaha....

we do get some good deals once in awhile, i think the Americans get the better ones!

Just did this deal, I feel I did pretty well here

Traded in the following:

-God of War 2 for $59.99
-Zelda Twilight Princess (Wii) for $40.00

10 Games for $300 off:
-Psychonauts (PS2)
-SSX On Tour (Xbox)
-Star Wars Battlefront II (Xbox)
-Suikoden IV (PS2)
-NHL07 (PS2)
-Xenosaga III (PS2)
-Shadow of the Collossus (Non-GH) (PS2)
-Dragon Quest VIII (PS2)
-Zelda Wind Waker (GCN)
-Resident Evil (GCN)

PS2 w/ 3 games for $100 off
-Tony Hawk's Underground (PS2)
-MLB 06 The Show (PS2)
-Megaman Anniversary Collection (PS2)

In total I paid $214 taxes in, pretty sweet deal if ya ask me. Only thing I regret giving in was Suikoden IV. And 4 of those games in the Trade 10 in my friends gave to me for nothing heh. So right now I have a PS3 with no games, I really don't even know why I bought the thing, but ah well haha.

If you trade in 2 games of the 8$+ minimum trade-in value, they'll give you any PS3 game out, as long as you buy a system at the same time. If you really want a game, and can spare the two trade-ins, this is a good way to do it (and maybe they'd let you do it if you go back on the same day).

As poorly as the PS3 has done so far, I have a pretty good feeling it'll recover by the end of the generation, and this will turn out to be a pretty remarkable deal in hindsight.

Yeah I knew about that extra 2 games but I couldn't get the other 2, I probably could've waited a bit and came across 2 but I honestly just wanted to get it done and over with, it was boggling my mind cause i was constantly like "should i do it...shouldn't i do it" so i just said screw it and did it so i can start focusing on more important things...like school work haha

Yup I feel the same way. I had a launch unit that I sold to a co-worker in Jan (because there were no games). But this deal was too good to be true.

I traded in 12 360/PSP games (most of which were bought Boxing day from BBV or RV). I would guess the average cost to me was $12 and I got $26 each towards a PS3. Plus 2 games for 1 PS3 game.

I paid 12 games + $309 taxes in for Motorstorm and 20 GB PS3

On a 20 GB model the trade was $26 each.

just picked up on this deal, as I had a lot of games lying around, and my friend gave me a couple of games as well to take advantage of the promotion

Gamecube:
-Mario Sunshine (friend gave it to me)
-Lego Star Wars: Original Trilogy

PS2:
-Shadow of the colossus (not greatest hits version)
-Simpsons Hit and Run (friend gave it to me)

Nintendo DS:
-New Super Mario Bros
-Metroid Prime Hunters
-Lunar Knights (I just couldn't get into this game, the quirkiness of it wasn't appealing)
-Pokemon DS (not sure of the exact title, a friend gave it to me)
-Kirby canvas curse
-Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow

In addition I traded in the following:

-PS2 Slim Version ($50 trade in value)
-LOZ: Twilight Princess for Wii ($40 trade in value)
- PS2 memory card ($12 trade in value)
- God of War 2 (too similar to the first one, I didn't really feel compelled to go through the entire game, $60 trade in value)

All together, I only had to pay $110 for the PS3 60gb version. Not a bad deal considering:
1. I had already beaten the majority of the games
2. Received 3 free games from a friend
3. I knew I wouldn't have the desire/time to finish God of War 2 (due to school, work, tennis, etc)

I am in no rush to pick up any PS3 titles, the only thing that interests me is Ninja Gaiden, and that comes out in the summer.

how did it only cost $110? That doesn't seem to add up, not that I'm calling shens or anything but the 10 games get your $260 off and the additional things you traded in got you a value of $162. Just curious is all.

I just looked at the receipt, the 10 games gave me $400 off the PS3 (every 3 games was $120 off). The grand total was $117.24. Also, at this EB, they were selling the 6ogb version for $658, not $699. Perhaps YMMV, but I think everything is pretty straightforward on the receipt, no mistakes. Oh, and its the 60gb version, not the 20gb

They made a mistake. Since Eb is selling the PS3s at 659.99, you should have received $260 off the PS3, not $400!

they made a HUGE mistake...lucky bastard haha

If it was a mistake, I am glad it was in my favor. Hopefully this purchase provides a push in my house to get an hd tv, lol. From my first impressions, the PS3 is ridicoulosly big and clunky, somewhat of an ugly design, but the controller is really nice. Can't wait to play Ninja Gaiden, nothing right now interests me (although the new virtua tennis looks tempting, virtua tennis for the dreamcast was a really fun game back in the day)

haha you got $40 trade in value for each game and the clerk didn't notice
Maybe he got the 20gig version.
AFAIK, Sony discontinued the 20GB PS3. I was thinking of buying a 20GB PS3, but it was still to much money to spend on a video game console. Yeah i am a cheap chinese guy! I will probally wait til it drops to around $99.

i wish i had read this before i went. i had a few games that i didn't want to keep. could have saved an extra 50$ or so.

still on. but the trade in your old console for another 100$ off is over as off mar31
Is this deal still on?

Does anyone know if this promotion is still on?
~S
It's still on. The $100 trade-up promo is also still valid.

I phoned. The promotion still on. I am hovering on the fence. I really want to play GoW and Halo3, and won't be able to afford both systems. I went Xbox last gen, so it would be nice to catch up on some ps2 titles with a ps3.

The main reason I would not trade in my xbox on a 360 was because I use my xbox to play divx, view photos, play mp3's/podcasts shared out from my computer. (I buy all m games, btw.) There is still no way to do this on 360.... but with a PS3, I could do all of that out of the box (using linux).

My main concern is the xbox may be able to distance itself from the ps3, as the xbox did last time about. AFAIK every mult-platform title last gen, looked the best on xbox. I see no reason why that would change this time around.... although it should be a MUCH smaller gap this time around... I just have the disease, that I must always choose the best tech..

What to do, what to do?

Well, this gen it will be the PS3 with the better graphics down the stretch. But so far the 360 has much better online play. That second may eventually change but the PS3 definitely will always have more horsepower.

That being said, right now there aren't many reasons to buy a PS3 (Motorstorm, Resistance and VF5 ... maybe) while there are a heck of a lot of reasons to buy a 360. I won't even bother listing those games. But, if history is any indicator, PS3 will end with a pretty robust library. It just doesn't have one yet and even the rest of the year doesn't look too promising.

I agree 360 has way better games at this point, and PS3 has no games worth buying the system for, but... I have a feeling that EB won't be running this promo forever.

As far as network play goes. The original xbox live good enough for me. I think the playstation network will be that good... and free.

So I am thinking that if one plans on buying a ps3 at some point, it will probably be a while before a better deal than this comes along...

~S

that was exactly my thinking. i doubt a price drop will come soon. you might as well pick on up, take advantage of teh deal and wait for good games.

i've just been playing old ps2 games on it that i picked up at the TRU BOGO sale.

I say take advantage of the deal NOW.

Never in a million years would I have thought I would actually get a PS3. But with this promo it was REALLY hard for me not to. I admit had they had a promo for the 360 at the same time, I probably would have opted for a 360.

True, the PS3 has NOTHING going for it right now, but in your case you missed the whole PS2 generation, so I say you have enough {S2 games to play on your PS3 till a killer app arrives.

Don't wait for another promo like this, by the time another one may happen, the 360 will have dropped significantly in price, and you'll be able to afford both systems. And if you're thinking of picking up a 360, April/May/June will probably be the BEST time to pick up a used one, with everyone trying to get rid of theirs for an Elite.

Haha that's the exact same mindset I had, no way was I going to get a PS3, at least not for a few years. But with the promo and getting rid of games I no longer played, made it something I couldn't pass up.

But I need to get a new TV now because the damn thing won't upscale 720p games to 1080i like the 360 does and my panasonic CRT RPTV doesn't accept 720p signals. So it's sitting in my family room with a 42" Sharp LCD for now until I can sell my TV.

I went to EB, and of my 20 games only had 4 woth $8! I had a tone worth $7, and $6! EB told me there was nothing I could do, I had to take their actual trade in value, and not the $26 that the promo was for, because I did not have teh full 10... no exceptions. I decided to try my luck elsewhere.

I phoned a couple other EB games which are about an hour and a quarter away. They told me they would give me $26 apeice for the qualifying games, and then the would take games worth $5 to $7, and give me $10 for them (up to 10 games including the qualifying ones). So I phoned back the local EB store and told them this... they said come in monday, and talk to the manager.

So I find out today I guess... Otherwise, I am going to hit the highway. My local EB is known for hiring minions, and mental midgets, with attitude, so I was not surprised, although I was hoping their IQ might work to my advantage...
