With the recent announcement of Halo 3 Legendary Edition retailing for 129.99 I would just like to point out that Best Buy still has it listed @ 99.99 + the $5 1600 ms point deal. According to their faq on pre-orders, they would have to honor your preorder price. Just wanted to give a heads up.

Oops. See that this is now a duplicate post. Sorry.

Here is where you can find it.

Here is the info copied from Best Buy's Preorder FAQ.

Q: Can you ensure the price listed at the time the pre-order is placed will remain the same?
A: Yes and no. When a price is assigned to a pre-ordered item, we are reasonably certain it will remain at that price. However, from time to time — given how far in advance we make items available to our customers — a price change will occur. If this happens, you will always receive the lower of the two prices. For example, if you order an item for $49.99 and the pre-order price is later dropped to $39.99, you will be charged only $39.99. If you ordered the item at $49.99 and the price rises to $59.99, you still pay only $49.99. When you place a pre-order, you are assured our lowest pre-release price.

Hmm, I wonder how long Best Buy will keep this at $99. Anyways, 100 bucks is still too much for me to drop on a game. I am sorry.

Hmmm, now I will order it at $99 since I was willing to pay that in the beginning. Now I get some MS points too.

Oh, and a funny/odd thing I noticed: if you add the Legendary Edition and the 1600MS points card into your cart and have them both shipped, the shipping is $6.98. If you set the card for in-store pickup, it's $1.99. Beats me why the card would be $5 shipping by itself.

I don't have a lot of faith in Best Buy, but we'll see what happens.. I cancelled my GameStop order and bought from Best Buy.

Looks like points ship out right away. Shipping went from 1.99 for just the game to 6.99 for game and points. Oh well, that's still cheaper than 19.99 for 1600 points.

Thanks for the deal.

EDIT: Looks like you just noticed that too Edge. Unfortunately, no Best Buy's near me to do the in-store pickup. :(

I bit on this deal. From reading the web site, I'll just call to have Halo 3 switched to in store pick up when it becomes available.

Thanks for posting this OP. Does the Legendary Edition come with everything the Limited Edition has?

$100 for a console video game?

Wow, thank goodness I am not really a fan of the Halo franchise.

The fact that this title will still sell well, at $100 or more is going to be bad for the gaming industry overall.

Ok, I am off of my soapbox now.

Really tempting as I want that helmet, but dang, $100. Better than $130 for sure, but geez. At least you can get the 1600 marketplace points as well for $5 with the pre-order.

I could care less about the helmet. Debating if I want to pay $70 for the Limited Edition or just get Legendary.

I guess it would further depend on whether you use MS Points. Personally I do use them from time to time so I also deducted the normal cost of 1600 points from the @105 as I would have bought them sooner or later. So basically you are almost getting the Legendary edition for 85 if you would have purchased the points anyway. I have a wierd way of justifying my purchases. (Kind of off topic but I just called BB to see if I could get the points switched over to in store pickup and they said they couldn't due to the item being in the process of shipping...guess I wasted five dollars.)

After some feigned sticker shock after the $130 announcement -- I would pay whatever for the "ultimate" Halo 3 experience -- I finally bit on this deal. I whined about having to wait to play Halo 3 after day 1 when the BBY-MS-points deal first popped up. But with $30 saved on the game + $15 saved on points [+ $50 "saved" by using a gift card], this deal was too good for the CheapAss streak in me to leave well enough alone.

In-store pickup on the points helps, too. I haven't seen those in store in months, so we'll see how accurate their inventory is. Just in time for Castlevania. Delicious.

The plan is to call when in-store pickup goes live to make an attempt at gaming on day 1. Has anyone else done a shipping/in-store swap for pre-orders? Might be tricky for a release this big, but I have faith MS won't pull a PS3 on us. It's just DVDs and plastic. MS can screw that up, right? Right?! Ugh . . .

I have a sinkinng feeling that it will be hard to get the legendary edition after release. The money I spend on this will contribute to saving time, gas, and sanity when it is released.

Yeah, I noticed that as I went to compare shipping costs between that and Wal-Mart.

Luckily walmart.com still has it for 99 bucks plus $2 for shipping.

Good luck to all you who didn't get on this because the site is officially updated with $129.99. For all of those who got in congrats and good luck obtaining it for $99.99. OP you might want to update the thread title now.

I'm pretty sure alot of retailers online/offline will find loop holes in order to avoid honoring the $99 price.
