Quality of Replacement PSP LCD Screens from Ebay?

My cousin's PSP LCD has this big crack in it which causes the top third of the screen to be just black.

I was looking at Ebay for replacement screens and they run $40-50. Has anyone purchased and installed one?

Main question: What is the quality like?

I don't mind an involved install process as long as the screen looks good.

Thanks!

EDIT 6/28:
I ordered a psp screen for $34.61 from dealextreme: http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.3217 . I ordered June 7, and finally received on June 27. (Ships from Hong Kong, so it takes a while.)

I replaced the screen, and it looks fine. Brightness seems fine, and I don't notice ANY dead pixels (better than original screen!). The only issue is that the new screen does not have black sticky "gum" on the frame, which was on the original frame. I have no idea what it does, but it is not there.

I would post pictures, but my camera can't seem to take good pictures of psps. Take my word that it was broken before, and now it is fine.

Replacing the screen was fairly easy because I read about it and watched a video on it before hand. Once you get the idea, its really pretty easy.

I was actually wondering the same exact thing about the ipod LCD replacement screens available on ebay just the other day. My girlfriend dropped her ipod about 20 feet. It still works but the LCD cracked, so I ordered from some place that looked decently reputable (goczar.com) and I should have it some time early next week.

Once I install it I'll let you know what the quality is like. I know you're asking about the PSP LCD specifically, but I figure they're close enough to be comparable.

There people selling Sharp lcds for the PSP, which are supposed to be the best screen you can get for the system. i have no personal experience with them though.

I don't think so. if yours doesn't ghost or have blander colors, it's probably a Sharp.

not sure if my screen is especially crappy, but it was apparent to me from the first time I powered it up that my screen wasn't as good as my previous PSPs...

I do notice a little ghosting here an there, but it's nothing I haven't seen in the DS (Lite) or GBA screens. Was yours coniderably worse than those?

I bought a Sharp from a guy on ebay that I think was getting out of the psp repair business or something - I got it for 35 shipped. It's a Sharp and looks great. It was very easy to install.

Recently, one of my favorite China gadgets stores, deal extreme, has listed sharp psp screens for around 35 bux shipped.

I've ordered many things from there and have always been happy with the price, decent quality and pretty darn fast shipping from China. I mainly order flashlights (I'm a flash-a-holic) but I have noticed they have put up a lot more video game stuff lately.

I guess so, since I haven't noticed ghosting on a DS lite before. I was playing GTA:LCS last night and it was super blurry. actually, in any 3D game when I move, the whole screen goes kinda blurry.

Thanks bordjon, I'll check that store out. cheaper than most of ebay and they look reputable...

wow, so there's debate as to whether that pic is real^^^^

for one thing, no one has seen a Samsung branded screen, they're all Sharp
but there's a possibility that sharp outsourced production to Samsung.

on the other hand, why would someone make a fake pic like that? I guess its possible they just assumed it was a Samsung screen, when it was really just part of a worse batch of Sharps.

Edit: well, after reading a long thread on gamefaqs on this, it looks like the pic came from a TV comparison article, not PSPs. I'll take the pic down.

last time i ordered from there, i got my order in a padded envelope, which was fine for that product. have you ordered anything fragile like this screen and have had it shipped? i don't want to LCD to arrive DOA and then go through the hassle of RMAing it.

Nope sure haven't ordered this screen or anything that fragile from them. What I have ordered has also come in a padded envelope which was fine for those items just as you say. If there were concerns about shipping you could email or even post up on the discussion for this product and I'm sure you'd get a timely and honest response. They seem to be very honest about things and any problems with orders seem to get taken care of. But... I've never had any problems with my orders so that's not speaking from first hand experience - only what I've read from others. I'd love to hear from anyone who orders a psp or ds screen from them to see how it turns out as I might want to order one for my nephew's friend.
