Can I use my 360 LIVE acct to get my orig Xbxo online?

This is how it was explained to me, when I was porting my Live account over to my 360. You can keep "porting" your account back and forth between old xbox and 360, but each time you do, you'll have to perform an account recovery. Make sure you remember which credit card and phone number you have attached to your Live account.

Yes you can. I did this, having Xbox live on my 360 first.
However, it depends on how you bought your Xbox Live. If you used a card (say from Circuit City), then your information won't be attached to your account. There is a way to remedy this. If you buy some Xbox Live points (500 points) for $6.50, this is the cheapest way to attach your information to it. Then, it's an easy transfer (using account recovery on the Xbox).
As others said, you can't be signed on to both at once, but that will rarely be an issue for most people.

Okay, thanks guys. Heres what I gathered from all your posts...
I used a 1yr card to get my gold LIVE account, so I will need to purchase a few points online in order to attach my credit card & other info to my LIVE account.
Once I do this, I can do an account recovery on my orig Xbox to get it up on LIVE.
Once thats done, I can use my LIVE account on either system, without having to do an acct recovery each time, but I cannot have both consoles on LIVE at the same time.
Sound right?

thats sounds right,i have also done this myself but used a credit card to get the 360 up and running,then used my info to get the account on the old xbox
