May is officially awesome month for Marvel movies. From "X2" in '03 and "Spider-Man 3" in '07 to 2008's "Iron Man," there's no doubt that Marvel and May make a solid team. And now we can chalk another surefire success to the list when "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" slashes its way into theaters May 1, 2009!

Reprising his role as Wolverine from the "X-Men" movies, Hugh Jackman stars in the blockbuster which, according to VARIETY, could feature a young William Stryker, Sabretooth, Weapon X and a bevy of other mutants—both returning and new characters.

Additional cast members haven't been announced yet, but joining Jackman are director Gavin Hood ("Tsotsi") and writer David Benioff ("The Kite Runner"). With filming tentatively scheduled to begin by the end of 2007, look for more "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" news and announcements here on Marvel.com.

Kinda weird title, but atleast we have a date for it now...just too bad that its a little under 2 years from now.
The title makes it seem like they're going to be doing multiple Origins movies for different characters.
That was my guess too. So then I guess we'll see "X-Men Origins: Magneto" a year or two after.

Hugh Jackman is a badass as Wolverine, the picked the right actor for the part, I can't wait to see how this movie turns out.

I agree. Movie studios will overkill super hero movies until there is no characters left and the audience wants to poke their eyes out.

are they ever going to make a fourth X-Men movie? the real ending of the third sure hinted there would be.

i know it's not going to happen but it'd be awesome if this was R-rated.

The thing about the Xmen (movie or otherwise) is that it's an ensemble piece and you really can't "end" the series since there's so many characters' stories to tell. And even killing them off in a whole sweep doesn't bring in audiences so that ending will probably never happen (in theaters at least as Xmen: The End is supposed to do that for the comics).

That wiki page is confuzzling.

Heh. When has the Xmen comics ever made any logical sense?

Shoot. I forgot about this news. I was riding in the elevator yesterday at work, and the little video screen announced the film.

Can't freaking wait.:bouncy:

Does anybody remember DC Comics Zero Hour?

They basically made the mini-series to fix all the inconsistencies they caused in previous comics if I remember correctly.

Pretty much. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0499519/

That ending screamed "WE REALLY LIKED EVANGELION" to me. Seemed like a total Eva ripoff.

I don't like the fact that Liev Schreiber is playing Sabretooth. Bring back Tyler Mane!!! Bring back Brian Cox as Stryker!!!

Plus, Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool?

At least Gambit will finally be in an X-Men film.

Well Marvel is giving comic fans a good dose of movies every year that they could start becoming the next Disney ... Remember the time when Disney was releasing animated movies every freaking year?!?!?

Then it was a few years of Computer Animated films (most of them were crap)

DC Comics is taking their time with Batman, the next superman movies, DTV projects and the justice league. Results are mixed.

God I wish Youtube wasn't blocked at work. I can't wait to check this out when I get home; I love Jackman as Wolverine, but I've had a total man-crush on Ryan Reynolds for years.

I didn't see Deadpool on the trailer...unless I missed it :whistle2:k

Also by the time you get home it will probably be pulled from Youtube...sadly.

Gambit - Taylor Kitsch -AWESOME about time they get gambit and he actually would fit the role playing Remy.

Deadpool - Ryan Reynolds -Remember guys, it's the voice, not the face, Ryan is PERFECT for saying one liners and being probably the only guy I could see voicing Deadpool.

Sabertooth - Liev Schreiber - I think this is in early years I don't know how much of sabertooth we'll see post mutation of all furry... I think as long as he's taller than Jackman, it'll be ok.

I am really excited... I can't wait.... I probably won't be able to drag the wife to see this.. :(

That trailer was awesome. Im actually excited about it. I love that its dark and gritty.

Gambit threw a card and stuff blew up, you don't know who he was throwing it at or what was happening so why would you think he was a villain?

I had to google his name to make sure I was thinking of the right Ryan.

We said the same thing for Kelsey Grammer as Beast.
youtube killed it. Found another

Thanks for that :)

Trailer looks awesome -- totally bad ass. Gambit looks pretty cool from the brief glimpse; Deadpool shows up around the :50 mark, swinging the swords, here's hoping he dons his mask; is that Emma Frost I see? Did not know she was in this...nice.

Oh yeah, I'm excited for this movie :applause:
^

Anyway, I've always loved Wolverine! Gonna be a great movie!
they could redo Daredevil... like the hulk and make it watchable.

maybe without all the stardom festering the film.

I'm going to definately see this, now how to create an excuse to either see this with or without the wife...
