Nov. 1 (Bloomberg) -- Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden said he is trying to bankrupt the U.S. through its war on terror, a strategy he says felled the Soviet Union two decades ago in Afghanistan, according to a translation by al-Jazeera television of his full, videotaped statement.

What are you talking about?

Didn't even click the link, did you?
Probably not. Of course, a plan to bankrupt the US via war would only work if Bush won. For obvious reasons.

Yeh I did, was in line with the other BS bin laden was spouting off about Bush to attempt to influence the election in favor of Kerry. Really didn't think anyone would buy what bin laden said, but apparently I was wrong :)

If bin laden really had a plan to bankrupt the US, do you think he'd go blabbing about it? Common sense would dictate a resounding "no."
If Bin Laden said the Earth was round, would that make it not so?
I generally don't look to bin laden for science facts, either cheapy :)

Bin Laden didn't call us and say "hey btw i'm gonna blow up the world trade center on 9/11 fyi," and if he says "btw i'm gonna bankrupt you and this is how" obviously its BS, because if that was his intention he'd never reveal it otherwise it would spoil the plan.

Just bin laden attempting to influence the US election in favor of Kerry, as al-qaeda attempted to influence elections in Spain (suceeded) and Australia (failed) earlier this year.

I'm not asking you to look to Bin Laden for anything, but that doesn't mean you discard everything he says. Does a smart General ignore his enemy?

Bin Laden didn't call us, but someone did send a memo to your boy GWB, and he decided time on his ranch was more important.

Ah yes, our intel. Not the same as the enemy revealing to us their plans :)

One small problem with that intel cheapy, its so vague its useless in terms of preventing 9/11 specifically. However the reason we were able to attack Afghanistan so quickly was because we were planning on cleaning up Al-Qaeda there eventually and had a plan ready to go, likely due to memos such as that one which brought much concern.

If you want to blame anyone for not taking enough action against Al-Qaeda when they were an imminent threat, it should be Clinton who did nothing when the WTC was bombed by al-qaeda in 1993, when the uss cole was bombed, and when our forces were ambushed in mogadishu and we turned tail and ran. Bush wasn't even in office long enough to do anything massive at that point.

Oh and so when the intel is right it's his fault for not following it and when it's wrong it's his for following it?

When the intel is right and he does not follow through with his plans, that means we probably disrupted them :)
