Just thought Id see what some other people do here,

Basically Im a network admin at a huge hospital, my job is very similar to the guy in office space who does nothing and keeps getting promoted. Except i don't get promoted i just keep getting a bunch of praise. So anyways for the 4 or 5 hours that I am actually at work during my 8 hour shift I sit and browse the looking for deals. In the past 3 months I have purchased about 20 games while working. Im not really a slacker, there is just nothing for me to do. I usually see about the same 5-10 guys during my day posting, I assume they have similar jobs. I used to bring my gameboy to work, or I would take naps. Anyone else as fortuanate as I.

I'm an engineering student at a medium size public school. I don't really have that much free time as I'm taking 17 credits, but I end up staying up late some nights or waking up early to troll through CAG.

Right now I have Spring Break, a week earlier than all my friends' colleges do so I haven't done anything really besides watch Chappelle's DVD, go out to the mall and post here all week.

i am home schooled over the internet, so while im posting here im supposed to be learning. i figure for every trade i make or deal i find my gpa drops by about .2.

I am an unemployed 19 year old. Sad isn't it?

I did work at Toys R Us for awhile but quit cause the hours (3rd shift stock) was too hard on me sleep wise. Now I can't find anything at all.

So I play games.

I work at Gamestop...yes the so called "enemy". I don't know why you guys hate us so much, the store I work in isn't a high pressure "BUY RESERVATIONS AND MAGAZINE SUBSCRIPTIONS" store and we do great on the numbers we are supposed to get.

I am a full-time college student, but work part time at the campus computer helpdesk too. Basically I reset people's passwords, let them know when the network is down, reserve equipment/rooms, and answer general queries about Excel, powerpoint, word, outlook, etc, etc, etc. I usually find most of my deals while browsing at work-- because I gotta play the games I buy when I get home, so I don't have any time to look for more deals!

I'm a computer tech for a local public school system. Most of my job is general repair or reloading machines with Ghost or ImageCast, so I tend to have 10-20 minute blocks with nothing to do. The guy that had this position before was a real slacker apparently, because if I finish work on 4 or 5 machines in a day, I'm hailed as a prince. I used to run through a couple dozen machines a day, but then figured I should slow down a bit. So now I browse the web a lot. Makes me look like I'm doing something important.

Psyclerk yea all I did today is ghost two machines which took 40 minutes... yea the guy before me was really bad too. I hope i don't turn into him.

I work part time for my dad currently as I just graduated from college, and needed a break before I settled down into a full time position. Currently looking for a full time job which actually utilizes my degree.

Since I am back in my old hometown I don't have much to do and have lost contact with most of those I knew here. So now I am an internet junkie, on days I am not working, which is often recently, I will search the net constantly (mostly CAG) in between gaming sessions. But I am supposed to be saving money for a trip to Europe so I only get in on the real cheap deals

I'm a Custodian or a Janitor as my sister calls me. I clean office buildings and banks and any other places where Crappers need to be cleaned. I also try to do as little work as humanly Possible and still get paid. Don't feel sorry for me because if it's one thing the world needs is clean toilets.

I'm a 25 year old Air Force Staff Sergeant (E-5). I am the editor for the base paper so the number of web sites I can visit at work are pretty wide because I can claim I'm doing research. I'm also a night owl who spends mass quantities of time playing counter-crack in the evenings. I really enjoy the military because basically I can only be fired if I mess up. Its not like out in the civilain world where your company could go bankrupt or anything

I'm a soon to be 26 year old freelance writer and part-time college student. At the moment I'm unemployed, and finding a job that utilizes my experience and abilities is proving quite difficult. I've done my time in retail hell, so the prospect of settling for a minimum wage customer-oriented job isn't at all appealing. Since I'm not currently working or in school I spend most of time with friends, perusing the Net, or watching TV.

I'm a maintence tech for an apartment property. I live here and work here. I get to sneak off and come to my apartment when there is nothing to ( thats like all the time) I just have to leave my radio on. I get to sit here and find games too. But here is the thing I would rather find deals then play them for some reason! I have a ton of games still in the wrapping thanks to CAG but I never play them. I just wait till a game comes out that I "really" wont and take advantage of the eb trade in four get one free. Well guess I'll see you all in the morning! again and the next.

i'm a 20 year old unemployeed sit at home person.

i too, like the person above worked at toys r us but got fired.

can't find much i wanna do rite now as nothing really intrests me except a few games...

I work in the shipping dept. for a Printing Company. Don't get to surf much during the day, but we do print some kool work. The covers and instruction manuals for Beyond Good & Evil for example.

I'm about to graduate college (Georgia State) with a degree in Political Science. I plan to go to grad school (get a PhD if i can stomach it...) at NYU next year. I'm 27, married, have 3 cats, own a house in Atlanta, and write for magazines and newspapers for a living. I also do the graphics editing for the GSU newspaper (pays VERY little...).

I used to be in a band called Crybaby, and we put out a few CDs and toured and stuff, but it turns out that the whole rock n roll lifestyle wasn't for me, so I just write tunes for shits and giggles these days. And that's also why I'm the oldest person in most of my undergraduate classes....

Oh, and I play a lot of games, and usually browse this site at home at night and in class (when I'm supposed to be doing research...)

I'm a Web developer for a large corporation. Some days I work my ass off, but there are other days when I'm caught up and burned out so I screw off. We turned one vacant office into our own personal lounge complete with an old TV we found. I've been meaning to bring in my PSOne since I don't really use it anymore. There used to be three other people my age that were into games, on nice days we'd go outside to the picnic table and play some GBA. Now they're all working remotely so I have to find other ways to keep myself amused (like CAG).

I'm a 20 year old junior in college. In terms of employment, I just have my work study job at my college mail room. Over break I usually do the retail route. Formerly a bio major but currently considering East Asian Studies, still taking suggestions though.

I'm 24, about to graduate college (U of Washington, we're in the tournament!!) in couple of days with a degree in Political Science. I work as an assistant manager at an apartment complex doing maintence work, and office stuff. From this job I get a free unit and have my phone bill paid for every month, in addition a salary. Like most of you I come to CAG to find deals, but for some reason I have yet to play any of my new games. This is going to change in couple of days because I won't have school to bother me for awhile until grad school, maybe. As of this writing I am finishing up my last take home final, yay...

im 21, and im a full time photography student, and i work at a cafe in a childrens museum part time, its usually pretty easy, i play gameboy for about 1/2 my shift there ^^

I work full-time at a worldwide ISP and don't really have time to look for CAG deals during the day, although I do sometimes check the site out during lunch. Of course if I had the life I really wanted, I'd do nothing all day except play games and search for more CAG deals. Unfortunately that's not my current reality.

I'm currently an Information Technology student going for my bachelor degree in Digital Entertainment and Game Design. I really /really/ wish I had a job, but for some reason the good ones are scarce as can be right now. I'm looking daily. :(

I'm 26 and just recently fired from Kmart. So now I have all day to play games and browse the CAG forum. Glad I was let go from Kmart though, that place is a mess.

I AM the Office Space guy. I do about 15 minutes of actual work and get paid an insane amount of money.

Problem is that no matter how good the money is I really want to actually be DOING something.

I'm a 29-year-old developer for a software solutions company. Because the work is so draining, I have to take breaks every half-hour to 45, and I use that time to look for deals. I'm in the same boat: I've bought about 10 games in the last couple months -- and most of them are games I wouldn't have bought at full (or at all if it weren't for some of the praise I read from Mr. Joe Gamer)

Yea i thought so, as you are aways on during the "work" hours that I am on. I just i was getting paid an insane amount of money :). I get that feeling to of actually wanting to do something, then I just go home and take a nap, or go to a friends house next door and play games, then come back over.

I'm a "Computer Systems Specialist II" at a large medical school in the midwest. I recently got the job, and got a 50% raise over my old job where I was a Sysadmin for a web design/hosting company.

Basically I get paid 50% more for doing LESS stressful and easier work than I did 6 months ago. Rock.

I don't have a whole lot of time to post but I do read most of the deals forums.

I'm 19 and work full time at Wal-Mart in Electronics. I'm going to start college within a year though, most likley this fall. Hopefully. Because I hate my job, people are such idiots.

"Sir, what kind of batteries does THIS take?"
"It says it on the bottom."
"THREE AHHHHH?"
"Miss that 3 triple A batteries....."

*goes to the breakroom to cut wrist*

Yes, lol, it's THAT bad

I'm a 21 y/o Corporal (E-4) in the Marine Corps. I am married to Darke Katt. I'm in charge of 20-40+ Marines that have just graduated bootcamp and Marine Combat Training (MCT). They are now in a training command to learn their occupational specialty. We also continue training them in MCMAP (Marine Corps Martial Arts Program) and any other type of training they need in order to be ready to either work in an office or deploy to anywhere in the world.

I have just finished my Associate degree, took me a while since I work full time.

Im a 21 yr old college student whos changed majors 3 times in 3 years. Im now in chicago getting a bachelors degree in Game Art and Design. My schedule isnt too bad, but i usually browse the site before class, and before i go to bed, to the guy whos also looking for a job in the game industry, i hear yea.

I'm 23 and graduated from the University of Maryland about 2 years ago. Recently started working for the Federal Government in D.C. Right now my workload is almost zilch. Part of that is because I'm too new to give complex assignments to, and part is because there isn't much work coming in right now.

There's this long-term assignment I was given but the deadline is so far off in the future I just can't get motivated. Without that fear of a deadline, it's hard to get anything done. Also, there is something fundamentally boring about the work that is done here. There is nothing interesting or stimulating about it. It is dry, lengthy, and contains lots of words and terms you couldn't care less about. Some days I will do 15 minutes of work and then surf the web or do anything else to pass the time - it can become maddening when you're stuck here but have nothing you need/want to do. As long as you show up and act like you're working on stuff I think you can get by, at least in the beginning. Eventually you have to demonstrate some skills if you want to get promoted, I think.

I'm a 26 year old production artist for a newspaper and I also work nights as a security guard. I am studying to become a radiologist through some online courses for the school (chemistry and Math) and thats when I have a chance to strool thru CaG website.

This is a very interesting thread. I'm a 27, married, with 2 young kids, and two jobs, so I don't have much time to play, but I find time. My real job is working for a cable company on their billing system. Pretty boring stuff, although I'm always busy, due to the fact that all the other people that I work with are just plain lazy. I just sit in my little cube and answer phones and emails all day. I know what Dilbert must feel like! My fake (retail) job is working for a Hardware store dealing with people that shouldn't be doing any sort of home improvement. Since I've been at that job for over 10 years, I get paid good for part time work, and I'm not expected to do much. Plus I get some sweet deals!
EA games is hiring close to my area for game tester 8 an hour :) but i can't take the pay cut or the the title :(.
$8 an hour?! Jesus! No wonder they dismantled the test department back at HQ. Do you guys realize that they used to pay their testers on average $16 an hour?

Which leads me to, well me. I am a 28 year old former game tester now living in DC. I had to "leave" testing and get a real job. (Real work sucks.) I am now a Desktop Support Technician making way more money than I did as a sys admin (go figure?) I too have become Peter from Office Space. I share an office with 2 other people. No one can see my computer screen so I mostly surf the internet or troll around here... User's having issues? fuck'em. I'll get to them when I feel like it!

I'm a 21 yr old college student, that works at the computer help desk and also as a residence hall (dorms) tech. Pretty much during the school year, I just surf the internet while I am at work, but over the summer they have me actually do things, like ghost machines, deploy finished machines, etc. Only $7 an hour but I figure it's experience in the field I'm majoring in (Information Sciences). I also do research with one of my professors on network topology (which actually pays $10 an hour, but I have a cap of 50 hrs a semester).

I help out a family friend and give him rides to where he needs to get(he's 87 this march) like work and doctor.. I get enuff money to pay for my car and rent and have enuff money to buy stuff i want occasionally.

I watch alot of anime and play games all day and keep any sleep schedule i want.

Are there *ANY* companies that pay their game testers decent salaries? I've been testing software for several years and would like to combine that with my gaming addiction and get a job testing games. But geez, I need to be able to make house and car payments and buy food and pay for electricity and gas and water. How does one do that on $8 per hour?

Does anyone know of any companies that pay their qame qa folks decent salaries, or are companies expecting them to work for pennies?

Well, I go to high school. I come home and have 5 hours of homework every day (or most days.) I never have time to play video games. And no girl likes me. I make 13 bucks a week to pay for going out with friends and video games and movies and miscealllaneous crap. My life sucks.

I'm a finance control manager for a large financial institution. I check this site out a couple of times a day, but I really should hold off, my stack of unplayed games is rapidly approaching my stack of unwatched dvds. I am a new owner of a PS2 (which is currently being modded, I should have it back in a week), and can't get enough of FFX.
