Serenity (2 disc Collector's Edition) DVD - $9

Best Buy has it for $9 too this week.

And this pisses me off because I could have ordered it with Band of Brothers yesterday!

This is also at Best Buy for $9 this week. I was very tempted to get it today, but decided to hold off. I don't really need it since I already have the movie.

Thanks OP.

I'm tempted to buy this even though I have the original and the HD DVD versions.

Gotta support Joss.
great deal but I have an HD-DVD player now. I think i'll wait for the HD version to drop and pick that one up. Thanks for the post!
Its 24.99 cant get much lower than that, only very few movies are 19.99 on hi def formats..
I don't really need it since I already have the movie.
I think all Browncoats already have the original version, but of course we all bought the Collector's Edition as well. Got to support the franchise. Plus the box is just awesome!

Nifty Amazon trick: I have a few DVDs from the Amazon black friday deals still waiting to ship (How I Met Your Mother S1: $12.99 & Flight of the Conchords S1: $14.99).

Since it hasn't shipped yet, I called up Amazon's customer service (a well-hidden number: 1-866-216-1072) and asked to have Serenity added to my order, getting super-saver shipping without having to find fillers. I did this last week with Katamari as well.

It says on the website to place a separate order, then choose "combine orders" after the fact, but it also states that you can't combine orders that have super-saver shipping. If you call them up instead of doing it online, you can bypass that little rule.

Anyone doing the Best Buy route: Robocop Steelbook 2-disc, Lost Boys 2-Disc and Dark Crystal 2-disc are also on sale for $8.99 this week...

I'm picking this up tomorrow. I know I own the original version...but if there's any hope of a sequel, Browncoats need to purchase this.

Bought Dark Crystal, Robocop and Serenity from Amazon. BB online showed that Dark Crystal was sold out at all of the stores around me so I said screw them....Just ordered online instead with free shipping. Hopefully Robocop wont be dinged up when I get it...

Wanted to do that but Dark Crystal was not available for me....which sucked big time. O well....still a good deal at $8.99
Actually the 2 disc version of Dark Crystal is $8.99 PLUS B1G1 free at Bestbuy.com. I ordered it and the three disc version of Black Hawk Down with in store pickup for $9.53. :D

Kudos to SD for the deal!
I did that too. :)

Black Hawk Down and Memento for one order

Boyz N The Hood and Dr Strangelove for the second

and i had a $5 RZ certificate. hahahaha...

came out to less than $15 for all four SEs.

now Amazon is tempting me with Casino Royale and Taxi Driver!!

Wicked. I've been wanting to grab the Nine Inch Nails Live Blu-ray since I got my PS3...it's about $17 and I didn't know what to pick up to snag the free shipping.

$9 Serenity it is!

This version was ok. Not what I was expecting. It adds a few more commentary tracks and some more special feature. I had my hopes up it was extended like the LOTR series.

So unless you dont have it or you just want to support the sale numbers, I cant recommend the double dip on this.

Yeah but browncoats eat it up.

I'm sure the Firefly box w/Serenity pack-in and exclusive commentary to that box is coming soon!

Are there any extras on the one disc that are not on the collectors edition?

Just wondering if I should go ahead and sell off my single copy or to keep it for any interesting extas not in the new one.

Bah, my Best Buy was out of this. They gave me a rain check though, does has anyone else gotten a rain check from BB?

Wait, how does that work? You just walked in, asked for it, and they gave you a rain check to buy it later?

Basically. I asked for it, they said it was out of stock (this was Tuesday, the sale started on Sunday), and they told me they could give me a rain check -- to which I said, "Okay!" For the record, this is BB#428.

They said that rain check policy's vary from BB to BB. Was wondering if anyone else had gotten one from a BB before...

It would be a better deal if the Serenity you got from Bestbuy came with an inpack comic book (bestbuy exclusive)

I went through the original and collector's editions, checking on this. From what I can tell, ALL of the bonus features and extras from the original are present in the collector's edition (along with a bunch more great stuff!). So yeah, I think its perfectly safe to get rid of your original version. I'll probably do the same with mine.

UMMM...

That comic book isn't exclusive, it just has a special cover.

Serenity is not going to be extended. Joss Whedon has commented that the edition he released IS the directors cut. He likes it as it is and doesn't have any more cutting or footage that he wants to manipulate. Basically the version he released is the one he's actually happy with (unlike what happens to many directors out there).

And I believe it was just the first part of Those Left Behind, not the whole thing (though I could be mistaken).

You're better off just buying Those Left Behind for $7-10.

Paperback: http://www.amazon.com/Those-Left-Behind-Serenity-Whedon/dp/1593074492/

Hardcover (supposedly with bonus material): http://www.amazon.com/Serenity-Those-Left-Behind-HC/dp/1593078463/

BTW, more graphic novels are currently being worked on for future release!

You are correct. It was one part of three, and for $10 just buy the whole thing.

Is this just this week? I was going to get this on HD or Bluray but I might just get it on DVD for 10 bucks. Hope it last after this week. I really don't want to go back to best buy today and today is my last day off till next tuesday.

Yes, just through 12/8. I'd recommend ordering it from Amazon if you can't get to Best Buy. Even with shipping it's a good deal.

The 2-disc is great. I think it gets most of the special features from the Aussie release.

Do you think they'll release a version of it in HD with the same extras in the future? I mean, if they're double dipping in DVD I'm assuming double-dipping in HD is a given.
will best buy price match amazon cuz the sale at best buy is over now and i didnt get a chance to buy it
Just buy it at Amazon.com.
