Since no one has made the thread...here it is. Everything you need to know about Zombies Ate My Neighbors for the Super Nintendo Virtual Console.

IGN:

A downloadable version of the classic NES game, provided through Nintendo's Virtual Console service. Zombies have invaded your neighborhood and are trying to eat your neighbors. Try to save the neighbors, cheerleaders, and babies in 55 levels of action and adventure. Battle zombies, mummies, evil dolls, lizard men, vampires, and giant ants with a wide range of weapons including Uzi squirt guns, exploding soda, bazookas, weed whackers, and ancient artifacts. If you have a hard time getting through one of the levels, have a friend come over and help you out in the Two-Player mode. Save your neighborhood from a terrible fate in Zombies Ate My Neighbors.

I will also be adding level codes, bonus levels, and walkthroughs on certain levels when the game gets a release date.

More to come later...

I don't understand why people like this game so much. The first level is fun, but as soon as those chainsaw guys start cutting through the bushes it becomes controller throwingly hard.

This was the first game I got for my SNES (it was like $9.99 at KB toys...that and Ninja Warriors...) so I was pretty young when I got it. I played through this game hours on end and could barely make it past level 5. I recently played it again, and made it to level 22 without losing a neighbor. Its all about patience and practice with this game...and you NEED a human partner to really have fun with it.

ZAMN is simply one of the most solid top-down shooters out there. Yes, it is ball-bustingly hard. Almost unfairly hard; the ants, the chainsaw maniacs, etc... unless you play it a LOT, and plan ahead, you will get slaughtered.

But it isn't the difficulty. This game is just a lot of fun. Even when you die a lot. The wide array of weapons, items, the enemy variety... everything clicks perfectly. ZAMN is a classic. I can understand folks not liking it, especially for the sporadic difficulty curve, but it delivers good fun for those who can get a taste for it.

I agree with this man. Shit is tough.

used to have it on Snes but I never really got into it as I was into platformers alot more back then

oh...and for some reason zombies ate my neighbors being zamn never clicked for me, until I read rollingskull's post

I remember getting to somewhere around level 50 before I got to a level I couldn't pass. I put a lot of hours into this game, I'll definitely pick it up again.

I thought this thing had over a hundred levels. And where the hell did those giant babies come from? What kind of giant parent leaves a giant baby with zombies.. I spent hours looking for a phone to call giant cps.

This game is a blast COOP.

Wasn't there a game similar to this that came out for one of the current Gen consoles? I can't remember, it could've been on XBLA?

I still have the SNES version from when I found it a while back at GameStop in the SNES bin for ~$5.

Monster Madness: Battle for Suburbia for Xbox 360.

Nope. Any VC news will show up in the Wii Shop thread. I'm excited for this game to EVENTUALLY come out too, so I'll be sure to post if I ever find anything :)

Just reading that title brings back memories of the music in this game. It's right up there with Marble Madness at the top of list for old games with awesome music.

I remember staying up all night with friends eating junk food playing ZAMN until sunrise when I was a younger lad. It's just one of those types of games. It's meant to be played, and watched, by more than one person. It's fun just finding out the theme (and title) of the next level. "Just one more level..."

And yes, it is almost disgracefully difficult.

Havnt heard of that game. Is it as good as ZAMN?

There was a sequel on the SNES called Ghoul Patrol. It has the same two playable characters even.

I gave up on getting this for the VC and just bought an SNES copy.
