My brother (M Rated) & I played the hell out of Far Cry Xbox & 360. We bought Instincts at release in September 2004. It's easily our favorite FPS series, but we aren't fan's of the predator part of the singleplayer, or in Death, Team death, & CTF matchs but Predator mode was fun in multiplayer by itself. Map Editor is great. I'm glad to see FC2 will have it aswell.

75% of my friendlist is members of various clans from the Xbox. Actually i know several people who still play Predator online, I thought about renting it for a week for old times sake.

I can't wait this is going to be a great game. It's a buy at release for me.

P.S.

I'd be more than interested in getting CAG Far Cry 2 group going if anyone is interested.

One of the things I liked from the OXM preview was that it mentioned picking from various characters to play as, and the ones you don't choose becoming NPCs involved in the story who you can work with, ignore, or even kill.

Looking forward to this one. It's going to be great, possibly just as groundbreaking as the first one was.

"How's this screenshot we're going to release look to you, Jim?"

"Needs more motion blur, Jack."

"Indeed, motion blur makes any piece crap look good. Great thinking, Jim."

I was in freaking awe when I saw the 6 minute stage presentation. This game seems to have the heart of GTA, but on a completely different level.
If they get the controls as tight as games like R6V or COD4, this game is going to rule..
I know the controls on the Xbox & 360 version of Far Cry Instincts/Predator was very similar to RSV in that clicking the Right thumb stick was "zoom aim', and left thumb stick was crouch/prone.

I noticed in the video "Y" was the action button for getting into cars, doors, & etc. From the vid it looks like holding down "Y" and then pressing Up, down, left, or right was weapon selection.

On Instincts "Y" was sprint & weapon selection (3 weapons at a time)was D-pad (left, right, down, and Up was binoculars) but now they've added the "machete" as a 4th. Before on Instincts/Predator you only got the machete if you ran out of ammo in every gun & melee was "B" button with a small boot knife.

I'd like to see left bumper as "sprint" like in RSV2 & left trigger as "zoom aim" like in COD4.

X is reload, A is probably jump as before, & "B" I have no clue.
I never really played Insticts: Predator, so I plan on trying this one out.
You should give Predator a rental to atleast check out the map editor. The same development team is working on FC2's version which it is supposed to be very similar.(IGN preview) It isnt Forge it's from the ground up level making with spawn points, vehicle, building, weapon, and etc placement which you can shape the terrain. You can make all kinds of maps plus we'll probably get 10-12 developer made maps which they are some really good ones on Instincts/Predator.

(Ex: Hollow Town, Terror Lake, Mercy Creek, Lost Refinery)

I'm sure there will even be map making contests.

It might be "heal" like when you take your bullets out.
It might be "heal" like when you take your bullets out.
I thought I saw the "Y" icon once while he was healing but I might be wrong. I'll go back and watch the gameplay.

Added the "Console Reveal Trailor" (360 & PS3 gameplay shown)

And a Ubidays Developer Demo with some nice details. (claymore, molotavs, binocular)

Yeah, fire will play a role in the game. It will be fun to using the flamethrower & molotav's on enemies.

On FC Instincts/Predator you had molotav's aswell. I would stand in an open area waiting for someone in a vehicle to try to run me over then I would toss it into the cab(priceless). When you hit someone's body with a molotav though it wouldn't engulf them but instead fall at their feet. : ( Looks like FC2 will change that.

If the "Refinery" brush is added into map editor you could remake the scene from Mad Max 2 (Road Warrior) with flamethrowers & vehicles (dune buggies, bikes & etc) :D

you could make some fun maps that have all the people work in toward each other as the fire burns in.

That is sick although I don't think they'll let you make the Eiffel Tower but that is really cool. It's about time they have an editor for console boys. I remember they tried to get the editor of Pariah to be popular but I don't think it had as much depth or control as this one. Still I'll all up for free maps.

If they have a proper sharing community setup for the consoles...i could very well end up getting this for the 360. The mods that could come out of this put Halo 3 and Forge to shame.

FarCry Instincts Predetor just downloads the map right when you join a game. Only takes about 20 seconds. I'm sure this will also be true in FarCry 2.

The narrator didn't say anything about adding NPC's, but it looked like there were a few in one of the fly overs. Definitely interested...

It's a multiplayer map editor. Unless you mean bots...

I think this is the first truly current gen console game with a map editor, which is great. Too bad there's no co-op, and no bots as far as I know. They claim you can get up to 50 hours of gameplay out of the single-player though.

Of course, but I really think that Forge was a stepping stone into this. Not to mention Halo 3 came out more than a year before this game.

What? You know the last Far Cry on the 360 and the Xbox had a map editor, right? That was more like three years ago. And they weren't the first console games to have one, either.

This game is in my top 3 for this fall (next to Fallout 3 and Little Big Planet). Every time I see a movie on this game I am freaking blown away. These guys have really put allot of work into this game and kept it under the radar until it was almost ready to be shown.
