The $200 Space Invaders Bag

I saw this officially licensed Space Invaders Bag while shopping with the Mrs. in Ginza. The name of the store is Idea Seventh Sense. It the first store on this list. The bag cost 20,000円 which is just under $200. It's pretty large and hard to tell if it's was meant for men, women, or both. An effeminate Japanese guy could probably get away with it, but not me.

They also had some smaller/cheaper bags.

No, I didn't buy either of them.

Why does that remind me of the episode of Seinfeld where Jerry was carrying a man-purse? "It's European."

Maybe one day, if you continue to live in Japan, your boy will grow up to carry one of those around--?

The metrosexual in me is shouting to the rafters: "I want one"... and the truth is... I do really want one... even for $200.

Yeah, manbags aren't for everyone. It'd be impossible for me to pull that off. Nirvana guy, are you a hipster by any chance? Or ride a fixie? or a true bike messenger?

IDK, $200 seems a little steep. And around these times, man purses still scare me. But it's interesting they have a space invaders bag...

I guess I'm sort of scene or whatever you want to label it, a bit more effeminate and eccentric in regard to fashion than many, but I'd definitely buy that bag if it were cheaper (~$40).

The only reason I would buy that bag, would be to turn around and sell it on eBay. And for $200, that's never gonna happen.

Though with that bag he can carry stuff and keep both hands free for fighting.

Cheapy it definitely looks like a purse to me.

When will you tell those people the truth?! That you are the reincarnation of the Buddha and you have come to help them as the Bodhisattva. They already suspect given your height and size. ;-)

It would be a bit more than $200... more like $240. The yen-to-dollar exchange rate has been this lousy for a few years now :-(

Yeah no kidding blue. I'm hating it, especially since I've been wanting to import the Miyazaki blu's(covers are better then the American one's and I'm not paying over $20 for a domestic Blu catalog title short of it being Criterion).

I import anime figures, game soundtracks, etc. It's quite a bit more expensive than it used to be @_@

Yeah, I've noticed; it has been steadily improving for at least a few weeks now. Hopefully it'll be back to around 100 yen to the dollar by summertime.

I hope so, now I just need to get some Japanese grammar books from Amazon...shipped to me from someone in Japan(the shipping rates from Amazon Japan are outrageous).

If you order a lot of stuff at once it's not so bad (especially for heavy books), but for just a few things... yeah, their rates are steep D:

Well I'm talking about the lighter books even. When it's cheaper for me to still buy those books from White Rabbit Press then Amazon there's a problem. I'm talking Elementary School Crossword Puzzles and Word Search books for crying out loud. I think Amazon either does it on weight, quantity or whichever they deem to be most expensive for you. :-(

reports say it could go back to 110-120 by end of year due to QE measures.
Good thing because I'm going in a couple of weeks.
