Saw this vid over at gametrailers.com thought it might interest some people as to what they narrowed down to the top 20 SNES game released. Thoughts on their picks or what will be the #1 game?

#17 - Gradius III / U.N. Squadron

#13 - Super Mario Kart

#11 - Castlevania IV
 
I don't know why but it's just not the same with Handsome Tom... Stuttering Craig alone just doesn't seem right. I always loved how the two would balance each other but Craig alone sounds like a dumbass.

Otherwise, it looks like it'll be Nintendo heavy in the top 10. I predict Super Mario World will be #1... and Chrono Trigger better be in there, top 5 at least (like #2).

Where is Handsome Tom?
 
Tom quite due to Craig not sharing the rights to the site and/or giving him a pay raise, because Craig (the owner) didn't feel that Tom was pulling his weight for the site.
 
It's sort of a bum out to lose Tom and his retro gaming knowledge. I've always enjoyed his video posts and general Tomness, he will be missed. I've been a long time fan of Screwattack, and I will be forever.

Listen to the most recent podcast, Craig explains pretty much everything. I would muck it up if I were to explain, just listen to the podcast.

Now I love "Turtles in Time" as much as the next guy but no way is it 5 spots ahead of DKC or the original StarFox.

Hell, how is Killer Instinct ahead of DKC?

Say what you want but Super Mario Kart is way overrated too. It looked like ass even back then, nevermind in retrospect. Mario Kart 64 pretty much nullified its usefulness.

If Super Metroid makes it into the top 5, any of the other DKCs make it higher than the original, or if SMW2 beats SMW, this list is BS.

I expect we'll see Super Metroid, SMW, SMW2, LOZ:LTTP, Mario RPG, Secret of Mana, Chrono Trigger, Earthbound, something I'm forgetting, and then one piece of undeserving tripe.
 
Screwattack sucks dick, and I wish I could hate their website off the face of the internet.

Having their shit all over the place makes it a real pain in the ass to navigate GameTrailers, these days.

Couldn't disagree with you more about Super Mario Kart. The graphics are colorful, and the game play is simply awesome; it was a one of kind game.

I used to watch the Nerd on youtube, like Im sure most of you have. Since he moved, I actually enjoyed some of the screwattack videos. But, with the boot of Handsome Tom, and the rise of Craig and his idiot sidekicks, Im about done with that site.

Craig is actually the creator of ScrewAttack.com while Tom was co-creator. And because Tom really wasn't doing a whole lot but expected to get a raise despite them not making much money to begin with, Craig had pretty much full rights to the site.

Killer Instinct was another one of those arcade games that everyone went apeshit over when it got ported to the home console. Especially since it came with a soundtrack and the game was a rather good port.


Regarding the Top 10, I somehow see one of the Mega Man X titles, Super Mario All-Stars, Super Mario World, Yoshi's Island, Super Metroid, Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Final Fantasy "II" or "III", or Chrono Trigger coming up on that list.

Because that's such a legit reason to hate them ;)

The reason I hate them is because they're so unfunny, that I think they're making the world a worse place to live in. The sheer knowledge that such utter fail and unfunny exists in the world, and sure enough, attracts legions of slobbering fans, is troubling.

The sarcastic/"angry" retrogamer trend is stupid, and I hate it.
 
I've always liked screwattack, but it won't be nearly as good with out Tom. None of the other crew members are really entertaining. I really don't like Jose whats his name, he just isn't good on sidescrollers. High School Ben would be my next favorite person, but he's nowhere near as good as Tom was.
But after listening to Craig, I can understand where he was coming from.

Except it's only because other people took notice of ScrewAttack and AVGN and decided to do the same.

ScrewAttack and AVGN have been around for two years now. Far longer than some other people trying to cash in on the same experience. I can name someone worse: Chris Bores, or better known as the "Irate Gamer."


Nothing wrong with a site targeted towards retro gamers. It's a nice god damned change for once.

Please, there are hundreds of them, and always have been.

Again, the reason Screwattack is such shit is that the whole thing has this irritating and arrogant sarcastic/"angry" theme to it. It sucks.
 
top 5 will be mana, cronotrigger, metroid, zelda, and ff3. but that is just my opinion.

As soon as Super Mario World was named, it hit me... Jesus fucking Christ the SNES had some awesome games.

I can compile a top 10 list for any system we've had in our household easily except for the SNES- it was always too damn hard. I can now see why it took him so long to get the top 10 list out.
 
My biggest regret was selling my old copy of Super Mario RPG. I must have played through that game 20 times and sold it after three years. I was shocked that it still sold for $42, but then when I got the urge to play it again, I couldn't find one ANYWHERE! Hell, I still can't find one! But yeah, #5 sounds about right. I still wish Nintendo and Square could have made nice, because I loved the SMRPG characters and am upset that they faded into obscurity. Croco still rules!

Still waiting for that VC release...
