Small controller for 360?

Hi guys-

Last night one of my clan members said that there is a smaller XBox 360 controller. I attempted to locate one online this morning but had no luck. Does anyone know if this information is accurate?

I cant imagine how painfull is must be to use that microcon controller. Look at how the left analog stick and the right Buttons are so close to the Bottom-Center.

Metalic: Depends on the size of your hands. I had a MicroCon controller for the GameCube for my wife. She found the regular controller to be too bulky, but she liked the MicroCon and would use it exclusively. Also, it was just the right size for our younger cousins. I might have to look into getting one for the 360, but I dont think I've seen one in stores recently....

I would NOT go for that madcatz controller (That is, the small one with grips on the side). Although I generally prefer smaller controllers as well, the analog sticks are SO sensitive and make shooters terribly difficult to play. If you play any online with it in any kind of shooter you'll go from tearing up the battlefield to getting ripped apart.
Also, after extended periods of play the grips can actually make your hands sore in those areas...so the grips make the controller worse as well.

So those are really the two main gripes about the controller and the first one is by far the worst for me. If you have large hands, it will also cramp them (I have small hands but my friends have said this...)

Basically what I use it for is an extra controller if someone doesn't have a controller with them, and also I use it for some RPGs since the control stick sensitivity doesn't usually matter for those type of games and also there is a turbo button which can help sometimes (though not often since the turbo button isn't really "turbo"...more like an amateur trying to tap a button fast)

So ya, get it if: You need another controller for other people and don't really care how much they enjoy using the controller/playing online shooters with it
OR
if you just want a cheap controller for long RPG type games where you'd sooner not wear out your good first party controllers.

i have that microcon. my son uses it mostly. i havent undergone an marathon sessions with it, but it is a completely viable option as a smaller controller IMO. it feels well built in comparison to other 3rd party controllers. ive had it for atleast a year and it still works like new. the analog sticks do feel different, but personally i notice a difference between even 1st party controllers, it just take a little bit of getting used to when you switch controllers, its by no means a permenant handicap as the above cag sates.

I agree it's really good quality. control sticks stay very firm for a long time...but have you played any online FPS' with it or anything? Like I said, that's where it fails. Any other kind of game works fine. Try playing CoD4 or Halo3 with it though (Or any other shooter where you need to move the control stick fast and accurately), and then try using your first party controller. If you haven't done that yet...then you really don't know what I'm talking about. If you have...I guess you could get used to it if you're very used to very high sensitivity.

And uhh I always get complaints about hand cramps over longs periods of gaming from friends like I said...so if you haven't had any "marathon" sessions.....but they have really big hands lol (I'm assuming your son's are smaller..)

Seems like a great idea for kids to play if they have small hands.

Me on the other hand, ever since I tried out the chat pad, I can't play without it, otherwise the controller feels too small. Its all a matter of preference as you can see.

ive played halo3 and pdz with it. i play with a sensitivity of about 7/10.
its definately different feeling, but like i said its a matter of getting used to it IMO. my primary controller has different analog sticks (i swapped out the sticks from my favorite og xbox controller) and i have to get used to any other controller when i switch.

i dont think the microcon sticks leave you at any permenant disadvantage, though im sure youre disadvantaged while warming up.

and yeah my son is 6 so his hands are pretty small.
i think next time i play cod4 ill use the microcon.

Holy crepes, a good third-party controller? :hot: I haven't encountered good third-party controllers since the Interact Nintendo 64 controller.

I bought a thrid party controller one time... ONE TIME. I'm warning you that shit never works out! just stay with the normal sized one.

Well, I still completely disagree that its even possible to get used to in some FPS games and do as well as with a first party controller. I've tried 3rd party controllers for like every console and never found one better than a 1st party controller...so I would think most would agree going for this controller is at the very least a downgrade in comparison to going for 1st party controllers...but oh well, if people hate it its not such a big loss...you can still use it for your friends haha.

I hope someone buys this though and plays with it for awhile then posts back. (chase seems excited and thinks its good so maybe he should get one :p) I thought it was a good controller at first, but after awhile of trying to get used to it I thought it was pretty sucky for stuff where precision is required.

Actually I did think of ONE good thing about the controller: The D-pad is a bit more accurate than the original!!!
Oh ya and I thought of one more bad thing as well: The rumble is awful and feels like one of those neck vibrators.

Do they make a controller bigger? Twice the size of the original Xbox controller maybe? I would like to use my BIG controller while driving my sports car to show off for the ladies!!! YEAH BABY!
