CompUSA had a 6 hour anniversary sale today. I found out about it by accident really. I was looking for game related sales for the weekend and stumbled across their ad. In their ad they were selling a 25 pack of Memorex DVD+RW's for $19.99. Not a bad price really and I needed to pick up a new batch so I drove over there to grab some.

To my surprise the place was packed! All of the shelves that had the DVDs were bare! Being the seasoned bargain hunter that I am, I decided to apply my obscure game finding techniques to search for a pack of DVDs that some careless shopper may have left lying around. Sure enough, I found one lonely pack towards the back of the store. SCORE! So I hop in a long ass line to pay for my DVDs. I must have waited for 20 minutes. Man was this cashier slow! It ended up being a good thing because I had failed to notice that CU was also selling 3 - 30packs of Memorex CD-Rs for $8! SCORE AGAIN! Now for the best part.

Enter Ali. A young, middle eastern guy with A HEAVY southern drawl! He didn't seem to want to be there tonight cause he was VERY careless with my transaction. You see, I had stacked up the 3 CDR spindles on top of each other with the DVD spindle on the botton. Instead of scanning each spindle individually, he simply hit the enter key after scanning only the first one!

I walked out of CU with a 25 pack of DVDs for $2.65! Thank you Ali!

nice! u know i had almost the same experience at comp usa almost a year back, i was buying windows xp home and came up to the cashier when someone pointed out that u get a free stick of 256 mb ram with it that day, so the cashier picks up this one laying around puts it in the bag and i walk out of there. when i get home though i find that the 256 is actually a 512 ddr chip!! and for what they went for back then i think i almost covered up the cost of buying windows xp! :)

Isn't that dishonest. Please return the tv and tell them about the mistake. How can you sleep at night.

There's a BIG difference in buying a product from one store then returning it to another store for credit or using a MADDEN raincheck to buy the game then have mommy return it without the receipt, and in an employee being lazy and not doing his/her job.

Daphatty was'nt dishonest by any means. He put the items on the counter for the clerk to scan, the clerk decided to just scan one and multiply it in the computer. It is the clerk who screwed up.
I'm pretty sure Daphatty does'nt get paid to make sure the clerk does his/her job right, that's managments job.

I have had similar experiences and I have never said a word when the employee screws up(unless it's not in my favor).

I gotten away with a free copy of Dynasty Warriors 4 last summer when the Best buy cashier forgot to scan it. That was sweet.....

damn im too honest. i was at media play and bought some floppys, a cd spindle, and tekken 4. as the transactions going on, the cashier scans the cd and floppy, and removes the security tagsfrom tekken. she forgot to scan tekken. i couldve walked out of the store with a free game, but that damn honesty my parents instilled in me forced me to tell the cashier and get charged. im weak

I agree with Jibba. Although its not wrong or right, it happens. I have had that happen to me too, but I did not intend for it to happen. DaPhatty also just happened to be in the right place at the right time, with a lazy cashier who made a mistake. It would be one thing if DaPhatty made a plan to distract the guy, switch the UPC, etc. But he didn't.

Plus he didn't get his mom to be an accomplice.

Score! :) 1K posts.

Half of the time, I'm not really paying attention when I'm being checked out.

I bought a couple of games and a copy of The Brotherhood of the Wolf at Target when it first came out. The total rang up to about $40 and as I was walking out looking at my receipt, it hit me that dvd didn't ring up.

I went back to customer service to explain the situation and she told me that it was their mistake and I could keep it for nothing.

There's a world of difference between having crappy employees and defrauding a store.

Yes I was the one who gave you shit with your "Look at me! I'm cool! I got my mom to do illegal shit for me!" thread. As others mentioned, you went to target with the intention of screwing them over. I did not. In fact, I was holding $40 cash in my hand fully expecting to pay normal price!

Go troll someplace else onewingeddevil. Your opinion is not welcome here.

What the fuck? It's not my problem custom services allowed me to do that. If they were smart enough, they would of realized what I was doing. Same thing you did prick.

You purposely put the DVD pack on the bottom and got away with paying cheap for it. Either way, it's something dishonest to do. If you can't see that, then I'm sorry, but you guys are a bunch of blind pieces of shit.

touchy touchy. you went in with the intention of illegal activities (or at least morally wrong) he went in with the intention of paying full price. he was just lucky. you were just scamming. i see a distinctive difference.

hmmm...sounds to me like the pot's calling the kettle black.

i personally see a difference between placing your items on the counter with full intentions on buying the products and buying products at one store in order to return them elsewhere for more or appearing to want to buy several copies of one product in order to use the raincheck on other items not originally covered in the deal. but, as i put in the beginning, that's only my personal opinion. it does not cover everyone's thoughts or opinions by far.
touchy touchy. you went in with the intention of illegal activities (or at least morally wrong) he went in with the intention of paying full price. he was just lucky. you were just scamming. i see a distinctive difference.
That may be so, even though I'm one of the people who don't see it as scamming, but he ended up doing something to the effect that was the same as mine. I didn't go into the store expecting for it to work, I just thought I'd give it a try, and if they rejected, no big deal. They allowed it, nothing went wrong, they didn't say again, and that was that.

But fine, believe whatever the hell you guys want. Convincing people over the internet is pointless, and I'm not going to get into a debate about it. It's just sad to see how one can do something, everyone get on that persons back, then one of those people do something like what the perosn did, and everyone support that person. Go figure.

No...you're just morally righteous. Huge difference.

I know that I wouldn't be able to live with myself for a while if something like this happened to me and I didn't try to correct it...

Right... and creating a thread titled "fuck Target", where you bitch about how pissed off you are expresses that line of thinking exactly.

Getting rainchecks to use on other items other than the item listed on the raincheck is'nt scamming just taking advantage of the system and is perfectly fine.

Buying those items then trying to return them without a receipt for full credit is SCAMMING!!!!!

Going into the store with the intentions of buying some items at the listed sale prices and the employee screwing up are two COMPLETELY DIFFERENT things.

If you are going to try and argue something atleast have a valid arguement and comparison.

The ONLY thing you are correct on is the second sentence in your last paragraph.
That is EXACTLY why the majority of the people here stopped wasting their time on you.

GOOD DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Talking about free. Ever since I got DVR from my cable company I have had 7 HBO's, 4 Cinemax, 3 Showtime and the Movie Channel for no apparent reason. They are not on my bill and I'm not going to tell them.

HAhAHa going on 6 months now. add that up!

one winged is just mad because he got flamed for fraud and is now trying to take that out on other people, at least admit its fraud dude, denial is pretty bad ^^

I was getting premium cable (too many channels to list) for basic cable prices. This was going on since last June or July I believe. They cut the extras off last month. Eventually they catch on, so enjoy it while it lasts!

:^o

You are wrong. [-X I did nothing of the sort. It was purely coincidence that the DVD spindle was on the bottom of the stack. I stacked the spindles on top of one another because THERE WERE NO BASKETS available to put them in. You obviously missed the part about the store being packed. YOU TRY HOLDING FOUR SPINDLES OF CDS FOR OVER 20 MINUTES WHILE YOU WAIT IN LINE. I'm sure even your narrowminded little brain would have found that to be the easiest way to carry them for that length of time.

There was no deception on my part. If that is what you need to tell yourself to feel better about your little manipulative plot, then so be it. Frankly, I don't see how you could look at yourself and not be ashamed that you put your mother in that position. Disgraceful.
