I'm wondering if this is a viable alternative to trying to find a Hori digital controller. The Hori controllers are hard to find and expensive- this thing is $20 and finding a SNES controller is probably easier and cheaper than finding a Hori digital controller.

This is to be used with Gameboy Player games, btw.

Has anyone ever seen/used this before? Is it compatible with the game boy player? What is the button mapping (i.e. is the "A" button the "A" button, does the select button work? What do you press that is equivalent to "Z" to bring up the GBPlayer menu, etc)?

I've never seen it before. I don't see why it wouldn't work - it's got the same number of face buttons as the GameCube controller, unless I'm counting wrong - but the mapping might be a bit weird. My guess is that Z would probably be mapped to Select (since the GameCube controller doesn't have one), but I can't tell you for sure.

Have you tried e-mailing them and asking them your questions?

I did. No reply yet but it's only been a day or so. Their policy on emails is pretty blunt, however:

Emails are not answered every day, so please be patient waiting for a reply. You may also want to try an alternate address in case there are spam filter problems. Emails from spammy domains like hotmail and yahoo are least likely to make it. We are known for slow email responses, if that is a problem for you then you should not order.

Yo,
Well I have both and it is way better than the Hori in my opinion. I used the Hori for a few years with the GBA player and it just sucked with the button placement and the D pad being round didn't help. I found a minty SNES controller and it works smooth. I don't recall the button layout but it is alot better than the Hori. Yeah retrousb is a bit harsh to deal with but it is a decent product.

Here is what RetroZone said:

The button mapping is correct for the Virtual Console, so it should work with the Gameboy Player. The SNES select button is mapped to the GC Z button.

What is the mapping for the VC? Drewman, does the select>Z mapping on the GBP seem correct?

I think I might order one of these up and try it out. Only need to find a SNES controller now, any ideas? I'd prefer not ebay but if it's the only convenient place to get one so be it.
