According to Yahoo looks like he got the nod over Clinton from the Dems

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080603/ap_on_el_pr/primary_rdp

It's going to be a close race. I like both candidates. As long as McCain avoids VP douches of Romney and Huckabee and Obama doesn't take Clinton its going to be a touch decision for me.

Let the discussion begin!

I consider myself a moderate and I agree with a lot of McCain's ideas as well as Obama's.

Either candidate is going to be a breath of fresh air from Bush (contrary to what McCain critics may say). I believe this is the best presidential election we've had in my lifetime -- barring VPs, there is no bad choice.

The only good thing about the Bush Administration was the national wake-up call to everyone that we can "no longer fall asleep at the wheel" when it comes to voting.

It may not accomplish a whole lot, but good God can it really fuck us all over if we don't focus properly.

And the bitch refuses to leave the stage. You lost bitch, you fucking lost!

fuck you bitch, fuck you.

And Obama is going to have to take the bitch, the bitch is going to blackmail him.

And McCain is crazy, truly crazy.

Clinton lost. She will likely officially end her campaign and endorse Obama in a day or two.

I like all the candidates though. I can't wait to see the debates between McCain and Obama.

You could be an analyst on MSNBS with that kind of talk.

so glad Obama finally won...... i would have voted for McCain before i would have voted for hillary

Well, Obama has enough delegates to be nominated. However, the nomination occurs at the convention, so Hillary still has time to pull out some magic.

She seemed far from giving up in the speech she gave yesterday... Come on Hillary, 3rd party is the way to go... Bill Wuss Party FTW in '08!

I have my doubts that Obama will win the election, not because he's unqualified, but because of his race. I was reading this earlier: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080604/ap_on_el_pr/campaign_exit_polls

"Before he can win the White House, he must cope with a daunting finding: One in seven white voters of his own party said in exit polls that race was important in choosing their candidate. Of that group, not only did two-thirds vote for Clinton, but nearly six in 10 said they would rather vote for McCain in November or stay home than support Obama."

I read things like that and get disgusted, he could be the most qualified for the job, but some people still wouldn't vote for him simply because he's black.

Obama is half black and half white. I'd think if anything deterred him from winning, it's that his name is Muslim and only his sister claims that they "were never very religious." I'm opposed to electing a "never-very-religious-but-now-turned-Christian," Muslim-named, foreign-born president, especially during the Iraq War.

Someone needs to brush up on the requirements to become President. You must be born in the country to apply. Obama was born in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Kinda sad that someone willing to condemn someone's candidacy for President simply because they don't agree with their origin doesn't even know what the qualifications for President are.

So what if he isn't very religious? What the hell does that have to do with anything? I can't even begin to respond to the rest of your comments.

You're the perfect example of the people who disgust me, you don't even have your facts straight for fuck sake.
Obama/McCain is a hell of a lot better than Bush/Kerry..
Not by a long shot.

Bush/Kerry was a decision between a out of touch idiot with vengeance on his mind and a slick, big-government, mind-changing, liar.

Obama/McCain, as near as can be told so far - is a decision between a Pro partial-birth aborition, dangerous dictator placating, revolutionary befriending, heavy euro-style socialist. And an anti-tax cut, pro amnesty, pro war, pro bigger government, pro higher spending angry near-death old man that's poorly masquerading as some type of conservative.

Of course, that's imo. And y'all are free to disagree. :)

Has he ever tried to portray himself as a conservative? As far as I've seen, all he does is betray conservatives every chance he gets. McCain said he'd keep the Bush tax cuts (although I don't believe him)

As far as everything else goes, besides pro war, they're pretty much running on the same platform.

Well, I disagree that McCain is worse than Bush in terms of being "big government." And the annual budget deficits support me. ;)

Well it's more like this:

Bush was all talk about smaller gov and smaller spending when he first ran. Turned out to be a massive lie.

McCain's long record as a Senator speaks for itself about where he is fiscally. And he hasn't said he'd be any different as president.

Fair enough, I suppose.

Do any of you think that Clinton's really out of the race? I've heard so much banter in the past 18 hours or so about how unelectable Obama is, how Clinton won the popular vote, etc., etc. - from *democrats* themselves. It really seems that the moment Clinton seemed to "concede" her campaign (what a strange concession speech she gave!), her and her campaign have really stepped up the anti-Obama talk, and are trying to foster a great deal of doubt in him.

Despite what Clinton says publicly, privately, she will be working to stab Obama in the back so he doesn't win.

i really dont think obama can win the general election, because of a combination of race/inexperience/slander (rev wright, his wifes "comments") and just plain demographics.

these are the states obama won in the primary

MT | OR | NC | MS | WY | TX | VT | HI | WI | MD | DC | VA | ME | LA | NE | WA | AK | ID | UT | CO | KS | MN | ND | CT | DE | IL | MO | AL | GA | SC | IA

of those bush won, 19 states and many are typically "red" states. many of those other states that he won, and some that clinton won, are gimme "blue" states. if theres one thing 2004 showed us is that you cant discount those small states and i would expect mccain to win the vast majority of those.

Love the narrative that the media is running on with this news: that this is yet another nefarious scheme by that evil Hillary women, who plans to hijack the VP spot so she can become president after she has Obama assassinated -- like Johnson did with JFK. It amazes me how the media (and many of you) essentially became those nutjobs wearing tin-foil hats in order to spew more ridiculous vitriol and conspiracy theories against the Clintons.
You know, at first I wasn't so keen with a former President's wife running, but after this bruising campaign, Hillary has certainly earned my respect and shown that she is capable to be Commander in Chief. Obama's camp has become so unbelievably full of themselves, that they constantly pat themselves in the back over this "racial progress" while at the same time act like a bunch of witch-hunting, misogynist mob, and labeling anyone against them as racists and mentally handicapped. The whole thing has been a sad sham.

Why was Clinton still asking people in Puerto Rico for money last week when she was already done? Why couldn't that b itch spend 1 penny of her own money on her pathetic campaign. Obama is already the President, we should just save time and money and have him be President Next Week. Hillary is such a disgusting hoebag and I can't believe it hasn't conceded yet. Sucks for the Republicans because they would have beat Hillary.
I don't look at Obama as a democrat, just a man with some sense. Something no other candidate seems to have.

agreed that hillary is a hoe bag..... i hope Obama goes with Edward's and not hilary as his running mate..... but unlike what u said i do see Obama as a demarcate ( thats why i will vote for him) but he does not seem like a normal congressman because 2 of his main thing is that does not do "dirty politics" and he does not take money from PACs

Because her campaign is millions of dollars in debt.
