I don't have a problem with an RB2 thread but it should REALLY have an OP that is updated at least once in a while, I hate it when people make threads just to have their fucking name at the top for a major release and then they abandon it and never update (see - Rock Band).

I was going to make it myself since I'm one of the few that will actually update the damn thing, but I guess this guy wants to jump the gun. So, hockeyfun66@, I hope you prove my suspicions wrong. Keep your shit updated. If that doesn't happen, hopefully LinkinPrime will take over this post once E3 rolls around (or someone will just make another one).

On topic:

Testament should be in this game, a while back the singer said they were looking at Electric Crown and Souls of Black for Rock Band 2.

for rock band 2, do you think it would be possible to use the songs from rock band 1 somehow? i mean i know you can use the DLC, but it would be nice to be able to use all the songs instead of swapping discs. (maybe installing the song packs? verifying you have the disc?)

i think they'd run into some trouble with that. verifying you have the disc would mean this:

-Pop in RB2
-Choose to play RB1 songs
---1st time: install song packs from RB1 (if at all possible)
----All other times: Ask you for the RB1 disc, verifies RB1 disc and then asks you to put in RB2 again
-RB1 songs now playable?

it would have to be a disc swap to prevent people from just renting, borrowing from a friend, etc. also could be kinda considered "stealing". stealing in a sense that it's music and you know how the music industry has been w/ downloads and ppl not paying for their work. you can do this with Battlefield: Bad Company or RGV2. borrow and play the previous games just to get free unlocks. there's no prob b/c no game developer is going to hound a publisher for royalties or whatever.

i don't know. maybe a few unlocks for having RB1 would be ok. like they choose 20 songs and if you have RB1 data, they give you access to those downloads. that way, artists won't be mad that people are "stealing" their music via RB2.
welcome to yesterday...

anyways, there should be an official thread.
Seconded.

Someone SHOULD list all the DLC coming as opposed to browse through pages upon friggin pages. Soooo, who's going to stand up to the task?

If for some god forsakend reason you want the default songs from RB1 in RB2 then you have NOT played enough Band World Tour. Especially before the store update, goddamn, I shudder each time I hear Gimmie Shelter come on during a commercial or anywhere else now.

I'm so fucking tired of Ace of Spades.

And why do they always pick the shitty RHCP songs? Always the funk inspired crap and never the newer stuff, which I consider 100x better, since John came back to the band. At least put Under The Bridge or Soul To Squeeze if it has to be older stuff.

If Yeah Yeah Yeahs come back, they need Gold Lion or something off the newest album. That whole album is badass.

They chose Ace of Spades because its the Motorhead song everybody knows, plus all Motorhead songs are pretty much the same

If that is definitely Dream Theater's Panic Attack, then RB just moved ahead of GH:WT in my book. I saw it mentioned on DVDTalk that Finger Eleven has a song with the same title as well. I sure as hell hope it's the former and not the latter. :)

What about those 6 of us who have not picked up the original RB? I was thinking about picking the game up if / when my wife and I find a new house but if RB2 is out in 2 - 2 1/2 months then I'll just wait and see if they fix the guitar.

Definitely picking it up for 360 since I can then use my GH II guitar as well.

Rock Band 2 = Garbage. What is new other than songs and minor tweaks? GH4 is gonna kill it with a whole new drum set (cymbal pads), new vocals, and a whole new guitar they won't even release info about yet. Its said to have all new notes and new features making it more like a guitar.

No one knows yet - including you - since next to nothing has been announced yet.

I see you're new, congrats on already taken a giant leap forward into the idiot category.

actually, i'd be down with that. maybe verify that i have rb1 every 3 or 5 plays, so i don't always have to swap, but could put the original if i needed.

and for bardockkun's concern, i don't want ALL of the default tracks. there are just some fun songs that i think people might want to play with the new songs, without having to play rb 1 separately; especially if you have brand new players over to play.

Or detect to see if you have a RB1 save file

But then you could just rent that

And Megadeth & RATM FTW

omg Alanis!!!111ONE1!11!

Cough.

Holy Wars/The Punishment Due would be choice, but Peace Sells is fine with me. WHADDYA MEAN I'M BROKE...HUHH?

And I guess that answers the "where the fuck is the Nirvana stuff" question. It's becoming more clear why current DLC is getting more underwhelming and "specialized" (timely promotions, etc)...all the top-notch, big name shit is being held up for RB2. Not surprising but kind of disappointing. If nothing else I'd suspect Nevermind will now be Week One DLC when Rock Band 2 arrives.

Hopefully somehow Spoonman gets deleted. That song can burn in hell.

Crap. One week after I buy Rock Band (Yes, I'm late to the party), I get this news. Oh well, at least my Boston track pack will still work with it.

I've held off on rock band and was going to get it this month, but now decided to wait till this releases. I expect it to be good especially since the old tracks can still be played.

The GH4 drums only has one more cymbal. New vocals? How? Maybe different songs, but vocals aren't new. The 'new' guitar is the only thing different. The only way it'll get closer to being a guitar is having a way to palm mute, having multiple buttons per color (fret) to mimic the strings on a guitar, or buttons near the base of the neck. Oh wait..

remind me again - what was so earth shattering going from GH1 to GH2 or GH3?

Not disappointing at all, actually. I'd rather pay $60 for 60 kick ass songs on a disc than $120 for the DLC versions of the same shit.

Testify by Rage is nice, but I'd love to have Township Rebellion as DLC or something. It has a lot of F bombs in it though, so a censored version would kind of suck.
