Want to write for a blog?

Hey Guys,

I am starting up a laidback lighthearted video game news blog, and I think it would be great to have a team of 3-5 writers for it. I have gained CheapyD's, to allow me to recruit CAG's to wirte for the blog. Since, the blog is pretty causual and laidback,the writers will not get paid in the forseeable future. Hopefully CAG and the blog can be best buds and maintain a solid relationship (rather than Kotaku!). There are no credentails needed you just need to have to be "in the know" about video games and it's industry. So if you are interested and want to apply, either PM me or email me at [email protected].

Please post if this has peaked you interest, or that you have any suggestions for a name or you just have any opinions on the blog.

Have you bought the domain name of a website? Have you designed it? I think you should have these things done first before you start recruiting.

You need to actually stick with it, unlike your Junior Gaming Podcast that you quit after about a day of planning.

If you really want to do it, make sure you plan on keeping it going.
 
I've got two events that may be nails in the coffin for the blog:

1. For some reason I cannot register a domain with an Australian credit card from all domain-registering sites that I have tried (alot!).

2. My cousin, who is a web/graphic designer and he was going to design and program the site, has, just recently, found out that he has prostate cancer, causing him to cancel all jobs he is working on and focus on his family.

However, we can solve these problems by:

1. If one of the possible blog writers could register the domain.

2. If one of the possible blog writers that is a web/graphic designer or has experience in the field, could design and program the site.

I dont want to offload the hard work to other people, but if you could do any of these things please contact me by ither PM'ing me or emailing me at [email protected].

Wordpress isn't for the domain, its for the framework (hence the "Problem #2 solved"). You said you needed some one to design and program your website...and no one in their right mind would program a blog for free.

Have you tried GoDaddy for the domains? Or even set up a Paypal account and used a Virtual CC from there to try and purchase a domain?
 
WordPress.com is also a domain registrar. It's $10 a year for one through them.

You will be HardPressed (lulz pun) to find some random on the internet that will register you a domain and set a blog up completely.
 
I would write a couple posts every now and again. I probably would not write that often though, so if there is no requirement on how much you need write then I'm game.

Yeah, the blog will be pretty casual, so maybe like 2 posts a week would be a "requirement".

I can register a domain, but however, I need a person from the UK address where it'll register the domain info too. So, if you are from the UK and want to be part of the Gamescribes Weblog, please PM me or email me at [email protected].

Ok, I'll make a blog on wordpress,then I'll register the domain "www.gamescribes.com".Then I'll redirect the domain to the blog.THEN, I'll recruit the Gamescribe Weblog writing team! Kapeesh?

I know don't need a UK CAG since on that site I cannot use a credit card. Also, I have contacted the credit cards company and they say the particular card that's being used cannot be processed via the internet. So if you want to write for the blog, if you do register the domain, you will definitely be hired to write for the Gamescribes Weblog.Also, I'm setting up the blog as we speak, so the Alpha version of the blog will be released in 1-2 weeks time.
