It's almost time!

Pacific Media Expo 2008 will be at the LAX Hilton from November 7-9 (Friday through Sunday, Veteran's Day weekend).

The hotel room block closes on Thursday! Single/Double for $109/night (Triple is $129 and Quad is $149) if you reserve through the Hilton website or phone operators with the group code "PMA" (for Pacific Media Association, the company that sponsors PMX).

SPECIAL OFFER FOR HOTEL GUESTS with regular Adult or Child memberships: Pick up your PMX membership badges at Hotel Registration when you check in! Avoid the morning lines and stop by later for your freebies. For details, reply to this email and request "Main Desk Pickup", and a Registration staffer will contact you. (Sorry, badges for Press, Industry, and Exhibitors are not issued by Registration and are not eligible for Main Desk Pickup this year.)

Have you been checking the PMX website? If not, here's what we've been cooking up for you this year...

Music:

From Japan, PMX is featuring performers Kaya and Suicide Ali on Friday and Saturday the 7th and 8th. Opening for these two are Nylon Pink (with Kaila Yu), Vamp Star, VAEIDOS and Heday.

Dance:

This year PMX is hosting Kaba Modern and SickStep. Most of America probably knows them as the hip hop dancers from America's Best Dance Crew and America's Got Talent. They will be doing an exhibition, and will also have panels and beginner's dance workshops. Also featured will be a 3x3 dance competition with over $1,000 in prizes.

Fashion:

For the fashionistas out there, there are several clothing designers from Japan selling their labels in the US. Included in the mix are h.Naoto, Baby the Stars Shine Bright, Peace Now and Black Peace Now.

Asian Cinema:

See some of the latest live-action films from Asia. This includes titles like Nana, Dororo, Shinobi, Zebraman, Lovely Complex, Hana, Honey & Clover, Love and Honor and Cormartie High.

Anime:

Pacific Media Expo continues to stay close to its anime roots. PMX will feature anime in its video rooms, cosplayers wandering the halls, voice actors talking about their latest works and finally, the big CosFest costume competition featuring cash prizes for the top costumers.

Korean Drama:

Watch the latest dramas, straight from Korea. Our crack team of K-Drama addicts has scoured the airwaves to bring you the best in Korean Drama.

Eclectic Events:

To accompany the eclectic nature of Asia, PMX has an eclectic line-up of events that will highlight the different sides of Asia:

Japanese style Maid Cafe - Have beautiful maids serve you coffee, tea or your favorite sweets.

Pocky Tasting - Most people have tried the regular chocolate Pocky. Glico wants to show you the whole wide range from Men's Pocky to Sweet Potato.

Asian Food Challenge - Watch people try to keep down the oddest foods that Asia offers. Beware the "Bucket of Shame(R)" -- it has already claimed one victim!

Cowboy Bebop Experience - Experience a fan's vision of the world of Cowboy Bebop. Enjoy the jazz, videos and mini-casino that Spike Spiegel might easily call home.

The Twisted Tea Party - See the artistic vision of Gothic and Sweet Lolita designers as they build sets and act out imaginary tea parties.

Also featured:

Console Gaming Room with Rockband competition, Arcade with Japanese video games, and karaoke.

Volunteering:

PMX is always looking for more evangelists to help promote Asian media and
culture. All types of skills are welcome! This year, we are especially
looking for people who can help with audio/visual work. If interested,

shame that in comparison the Anime Expo thread had over 50 replies and AX sucks ass... it's boring and this convention tries to be everything that AX wishes it could

but AX has rep and hype so at least I'm helping the underdog get some exposure it should hopefully deserve
