Just get a cheap alarm clock and set it to 2:58AM... no need to stay up.
Google/Dowload banshee screamer alarm clock, best pc alarm clock I've used and it is free. You can even have it bring up the amazon page before it wakes you. ;)

I would hold off on a cheaper regular edition unless you actually want the extras. I personally don't think the CE adds very much. Plus, a decent deal on the regular edition is bound to come up by Christmas if you're patient.
