Cheapy, Move To HongKong!

raistlin

CAGiversary!
I noticed a while back Cheapy was joking about maybe coming back to the states if his wife loses her job. Well...

I just happen to be glancing at the different conversion rates recently and noticed that $1 = 7.7503 (HKD) or Hong Kong Dollars. The conversion is like double what it would have been when Cheapy first moved to Japan. Granted rent etc would cost more but still.

So heck if I was in that situation I would just move to HK. I'm sure it would be easy for his wife to find work there. Anyhow, just curious if you'd looked into this Cheapy.

I think Cheapy will move back to America when the time is right.

Who know's what crazy ass stuff could happen.

Scenario 1: Cheapy's wife could get fired they move back.

Scenario 2: Cheapy gets sick of being a father etc etc and divorces his wife and moves back to America

Scenario 3: Murder, Cheapy murders his family, hides the bodies in the apartment then either melts the bodies down with acid and stays in Japan or moves back to America.

Scenario 4: Suicide. In an active attempt CheapyD records one last show *snif* and jumps from his window during the CAGCast, making it one of the greatest last shows. Wombat is shocked, hearing Cheapy's last words and the sound of splat as he hits the pavement.

It's only a four hour flight from Tokyo, and apparently airline tickets are selling for around $400. Not too shabby at all. Could you imagine living some where, where the money you normally would make is multiplied by 7 almost 8? =-O

But then unless his wife knows how to speak Chinese, they would both have to learn a new language hah! I understand though that allot of Japanese characters decent comes from Chinese characters so that's a good start! :D

Anyhow, yeah I imagine he'll move back to the states. It sounds like that's what he really wants.

Please stop making me cringe. First of all if you had done any investigation you would have realised that the Hong Kong Dollar is linked to the American Dollar at a constant exchange rate. That exchange rate hasn't changed for years it would have been the same as when Cheapy moved to Japan. Also you obviously havent been abroad to often sure the amount of money you make is "timed by 7 or 8" however prices for original american goods will cost a premium although admittedly the are good quality fakes in hong kong and shenzen is just a short trip across the border. Also on another note just because it seems like more doesnt mean it is more. Lets put it like this in Hong Kong a packet of tic tacs cost 3-5 hong kong dollars. Why so much? Because 8 hong kong dollars is worth a dollar so they scale their prices accordingly...

Please stop being a ******** to people who are going out of their way to try to help someone else out. Whether or not his information is correct, it's the thought that counts. Not everyone understands conversion rates because...well...they don't have to. So correct someone if you would like to, I have no problem with that and no one else should. But don't be a ******** when it's not called for. You're one of the reasons people don't even try to help others out any more.

I'm sorry if i came off as a douche but something that really bothers me is when people try and give others advise with little to no experience or knowledge on the subject. At least do some research on the subject like even looking at the other exchange rate for dollar to yen to get an idea of how it works.

Actually the conversion rate I posted was dead on as of Dec 22 when I checked it. Alas, I was just making light conversation for fun.

Unfortunately some people have nothing better to do then to troll boards like this. It's a shame really.

That's fine...but he never claimed to know for sure what he was talking about. He simply recommended that Cheapy look into it if he already hasn't. Either way, it's much easier to know how to spell the word "advice" than convert dollar to yen. I've done my due diligence here...have a nice day. ;)

Everybody speaks English in Hong Kong, CheapyD and his wife would be able to live there fine.

Jokes aside, I think it's all about what makes Cheapy happy. I mean, really, who wouldn't like to marry a Japanese woman and go live in Japan, even if you do make less money? I know I would! Besides, a happy Cheapy means great shows for us!

Now, what I would REALLY like to see is Wombat move to some other country... I bet the stories would be epic!

my gf is in honk kong for school now, the problem i have is she is gonna learn to speak cantonnese which is pretty much wortheless to know except in hong kong.

Well if she can learn to speak Cantonese it will be a lot easier to learn Mandarin.

You mean "Engrish". Besides, it would not be fluid english.

The conversation rates from US dollars and HK dollars is around 7 to 8. Even though, this might sound awesome, I assure you that everything that costs over in Hong Kong is almost the same price as here in the US.

The only advantages of living there...would be that everything is somewhat close by and cars are not really needed for normal day living.

There are also alot of "fake" stuff there, granted its less than before, but it's still there.
Cheapy should move to Australia!
Hey I live in Australia and it's not so great.

Let's just say the grass is always greener on the other side. For one our bandwidth limits and costs are a joke. We're worse off than most of the world.
