New York Jet fans: buy Doug Brien's head!

hahaha... oh man everybody blames the kicker. Reminds me of when the Chiefs fell to the Colts I think it was in a similar manner. There was like a full-fleged seige laid upon the poor guy's home or something like that.

Yeah, maybe if the offense would have the balls to throw downfield and get another TD then they wouldn't have to rely on the kicker.

Nah, it's the kicker's fault. One miss under pressure at the end of the game is excusable - it happens. 2 is not. They were in a position to win (twice) and he let them down both times. It is his fault (although I agree Herm should have tried to get 10 more yards)....

jets fans are the best- this really is the ideal loss (well maybe the week before if they had lost after a roughing the passer penalty)

now it gives mike and the mad dog and all the other crazies something to talk about for the next year. of all the sports teams, jets fans really are the most down on their team, the decisions of management and coaches and player performance. i really think they enjoy complaining about not winning more than winning.
Maybe if our coaches would have moved the ball up FIVE ****ING YARDS, THE FIRST ATTEMPT WOULD HAVE BEEN THROUGH.

*blames coaches*
Totally agree. Herman Edwards should have gotten the HINT in S.D. that you need to get closer to the endzone and that a 40+ yard field goal IS NOT a GIMME!

I agree that missing 2 is in-excusable, but the Jets shouldn't have been in that postion to begin with. Pennington needs to be better than he was, part of me really thinks he can be too. Also it would be nice if Santana Moss knew how to catch footballs

Everyone blames the kicker in a loss like that, and yet kickers get no respect from anyone when they do well. I really get tired of hearing people say something like, "a kicker said it, so it doesn't matter."

Why do all musclehead football players have such a problem with kickers? They are an important part of the team.

I agree with onikage- everybody does blame the kicker when he screws up and they forget his name when he scores the win. Plus, its a hell of a lot harder than most people think - it's not an exact science.

Yeah like when Manning called Mike Vanderjagt an idiot, and that idiot then won something like 4 or 5 games for him that season.

thats funny
glad the eagles wont have to worry about an auction like this after they kick the shit outta overrated vick and the gay ass falcons

This isn't true. Ask any football fan who the kicker is for New England is and I bet most will be able to tell you.

(It's Adam Vinatieri, for the few that didn't)

Its certainly not the kickers fault, a 40+ field goal isnt easy. Its the Jets offense's fault. The offense didn't get ANY points, only the defense and special teams got points. The defense got a lot of turnovers, so there's no reason why the offense shouldn't have scored AT LEAST 1 touchdown.

causew their pussies. They dont even wear face masks! They must stink or have a diease cause when you see one on camera no one sits by them no one is talking to them. Kickers suck! You have one job to do. Kick the ball through the big hole in the middle of the end zone. Then they crack under pressure and then DONK! All you have to do to make a kicker miss is wait till he is about to kick. Call a timeout. ( then you get to watch him go crazy start to cry shake shiver and worry) Then wait for him to set up again and then...the kick is away... it looks good...it looks good. Wide right NO GOOD!

Also the longest field goal kicked at Heinz field is 46 yards. His first miss was from 47. Hackett was calling the game like he was playing not to lose. This is the playoffs, you play to win. You go for the throat. I'm not talking using gadget plays, but playing aggressive.

The play calling in the final 2 minutes was so timid it wasn't funny. You should at least take a shot at the end zone or just a little 5 yard pass to give the kicker some more yardage. The worst that would have happened is that you head to overtime.

He also missed a 50 yard field goal that would have gotten my saints into the playoffs. Jets would have beaten the rams and the saints would have been in.

Oh yea 100th post
