That fucking Pearl Jam project better come out before the DLC well runs out.

Same, but I'm not holding my breath.

Wow, end of an era. I guess this means we won't have any music games next gen, at all?

At least I know it won't take much to have all the songs I want, there is probably only 10-20 songs left I wouldn't mind having.

Might have to keep my 360 just for Rock Band, and other games.

I'm just disappointed we have so little time and it's split between that and RB:Blitz rereleases

Ah, it's been a good run.

Maybe (probably) optimistic of me, but there are "currently" no planned DLC beyond April 2nd. That leaves them open for non-weekly (monthly? Occasionaly?) DLC releases?

Praying very hard that one of the unannounced "projects" is a true sequel to frequency/amplitude/rock band unplugged. Played unplugged for most of a 4 hour flight yesterday and forgot how awesome (and crazy hard!) it is. Blitz was a tease and disappointment to me.

I read that as "if our other IPs fail, we will be coming back". Til that point, all you can hope for is RBN.

RIP, Rock Band. It was a good run, yes, but I'm disappointed that we never got a RB4 as a more polished update of RB3, complete with bringing back an actual world tour/story mode. Anyone think music/rhythm games will make a comeback in the next console generation? Anyone? No? ...yeah, me neither.

Out of all the Queensryche they could have used that's what they chose?

I, for one, am just ecstatic that they've even been included. I've been waiting for years for anything by this band. "Eyes of a Stranger" would have blown my cranium off.

I like Staind, but not the melodic stuff.

I really hope that we can transfer all the DLC to a new console if there is ever RB4 or something otherwise I'm going to have to keep the 360 FOREVER.

I've posted this exact concern on the Xbox forums. Response: crickets. I get the feeling that publishers are going to be sticking it to the consumer by making your DLC content only valid for the current generation. This way they can sell it to you AGAIN as 'new and improved'. While this is not the right thread to start a firestorm, I get the feeling that the upcoming generation of consoles is going to be quite consumer un-friendly.

And if so they're going to have a helluva time trying to convince consumers to purchase digital content on those new platforms. I'll be done with XBLA and just stick with game specific DLC/map packs.

And back on track... Fuck yeah for Queensryche! Pretty mellow tune though.

I'm still trying to figure out the point or reasoning of asking anything on the XBox forums. By now it's official that any big game company's response will be "we don't respond to rumors or speculation", but bringing it up to the XBox forums is...well, what were you hoping to get? They're basically playing the role of low level customer service on their forums and there's no way they'd know anything about the console.

I was hoping to generate some kind of conversation that there are MS customers that were concerned about this issue. The key point of my post is that there was no response.

Well, they're trying to "meet you all the way" ;)

I'm all over "Weird Science," but I would have preferred "Africa" or "Hold the Line"

So what song could be the finale...

You would think it will Rock and contain something about an ending...

Though based on weeks like this you would think they might go with something like Boys II Men - End of the Road.

The only way the last piece of DLC can come close to meeting expectations is if they finally get more Muse or if it's Beatles being transferable.

Regarding the final DLC, the Harmonix guys have said:

1) It's a "fitting" song
2) It's an artist who hasn't been in Rock Band before
3) There are no "big surprises" in the remaining lifespan of DLC -- I forget the exact wording, but the subtext was basically "no, the last song isn't Zeppelin/Prince/U2/etc."

My money is on "Closing Time." It meets all the above criteria and was apparently licensed for the aborted Guitar Hero 7.

Continuing the sad times for Rock Band, I just snapped the inside plastic on one of the fret buttons on my RB2 guitar. :-( Shopping for a replacement online is a joke, but I see that the wireless Precision Bass controllers are fairly easy to come by. Anyone have experience with those? Would the split strum bar confuse the hell out of casual players at a party, or could someone easily ignore that and play it like a regular guitar?

The bass wireless isn't bad, but just a few things of note about them...

-The wireless version of the bass DRAIN batteries quick. I Don't know how, but basically it has like 6-8 hour battery life.
-The duel strum isn't too bad, but one thing of note is one of the strum bars is inverted meaning if you strum up it'll go down and down is up kinda thing. Otherwise once they give "fingerwalking" on the duel strums a try then it isn't that bad.
-The "whammy bar" is instead a "whammy knob" meaning you got to twist it around to get the whammy effect.

Otherwise it's a good fake guitar, the biggest downside to it though is just the battery life on it. There is a good solid click with the strum bars though. which is pretty satisfying.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm actually about to order some fresh batteries too (Sanyo eneloops, I've heard good things about them) so hopefully that offsets the power draining issues a bit.

Unless there's something I'm missing, the down/up strum issue should only affect menu navigation, correct?
