I hope this is considered valid for this forum.

Just looking to see what programs everyone uses that are vital. Aside from things like Adaware, Trillian, Spybot, and other knowns (Winzip, Winrar, etc), what other programs do you think people should know about?

I recommend:

VideoLan - Opensource video viewing prog, good for lots of formats.

TCPOptimizer - Puts your net connection at the highest software speeds available by tweaking settings inside Windows.

TweakUI/Powertoys - Includes ways to change settings inside the OS, resize pictures with right click, and several other useful features.

Sandra - Can tell you what hardware components you have and the manufacturer, making it easy to locate drivers online.

Skype - Free phone calls to other uses with a microphone over the net.

Audiograbber - Best free program to rip files from audio CDs and convert to mp3.

Driver Magician - Can determine hardware drivers installed on your machine and allow you to back them up to a CD for future reference.

Daemon Tools - Best free phantom CD drive available (for running iso files straight from your computer, great for older games like Diablo and Starcraft)

Azureus - A great torrent client.

Post away, people.
