I never got to finish the first on my N64...actually I haven't even finished Zero yet...would be a great addition to XBLA if they don't fuck up the multiplayer.

That logo is so fake it's not even funny. Why would you use a screenshot from the game as a game logo? And better yet, one that hasn't been enhanced at all?

Holy fuck, that's amazing. It definitely looks like the original Joanna.

I bought an N64 just so I could play Perfect Dark. It's the only reason that system is still hooked up to my TV. An XBLA version would rock.

Yeah, I'd definitely want this. Tried going and replaying it on the N64 and the biggest complaint is easily C buttons mixed with analog. Two analog sticks would be an AMAZING improvement (that and no lag).

Haha, Goldeneye would kick ass. It does kinda look like her from the screenshots I have seen. Zero was great, I would buy it.

There is another Banjo Kazooie emblem on that gamer tag, it doesnt look like the Nuts and Bolts one. Maybe it is the second Banjo Kazooie

Also, why doesnt anyone just message this xbox user and ask him what it is?? It seems like an easy way to tell if its a fake

I'm holding down my anticipation until we get an official annoucement. After the GoldenEye debacle (WHHHHHHHHHHHYYYYYYYYYYY?), I've learned to just wait til things come out. Heh.

If it does come out, though... AWESOME.

This would be nice. Perfect Dark is WAY better than Perfect Dark Zero. Although, I hope they would update the control scheme and graphics. I also hope they would tone done the blurring after you get pistol whipped.

Could be just because it's an early prototype. But yeah, I think it's fake.

I'm actually fairly sure this will happen, after all they had Goldeneye up and running on the 360 so they have some of the fundamentals like a usable game engine. And since PD is wholly owned by Rare like the Banjo games we don't have to worry about anyone blocking it from being released on XBLA.

Personally I can't wait, I loved PD back in the day and I would buy an enhanced remake on day 1.

I don't think that even with updated controls and graphics that a modern take on PD will work. Plus, MS will probably convince Rare to charge 1200 MS points for this just like Banjo-Kazooie.
What happened with goldeneye?? Was it on the market??
No, there was some issue where Nintendo (IIRC) holds the rights to the N64 version of Goldeneye, and they obviously weren't going to allow it to be put on XBLA.

I think I remember one of the people behind the whole GoldenEye debacle saying that Goldeneye would be coming out in one form or another."

Maybe this is what he meant.

I've been loving PD for almost 10 years now, but every year it's getting REALLY hard to tolerate the framerate. I'd buy an XBLA just for stability alone.

Oh, what I would give for an update that doesn't incorporate intense blurring even after you respawn (I never understood that) and features an improved framerate.

The problem isn't only Nintendo (although they are part of the problem) part of the problem is also Activision , the current holder of the Bond license.

Allegedly Nintendo and Rare/Microsoft had come to some kind of agreement that Goldeneye could be released on XBLA in an upgraded form if nintendo could release the original 64 game on the VC , but Activision put the kabosh on the plan. Don't know whether that's the truth or the whole story or what.

Yeah, there was never an 'official' reason for the GoldenEye roadblock. What StarKnight posted is one version, where another is that, in essence, Nintendo doesn't have any *actual* say in the matter, but Activision asked for their input to be considerate. Nintendo balked and, not wanting to upset the biggest money-makers at the time, Activision put a stop to it.

Yet another had to do with actor likeness rights, which is a less plausible reason to stop altogether, but certainly would have been an issue. Sidenote, that's the one piece of the puzzle I'd really *love* to know... what were their plans for the Bond character model? Would they have released a game with the (recently) former Brosnan Bond right after Casino Royale came out, pulled an EA 'non-descript Bond', or actually put Daniel Craig in it?

I think the GE thing is why there's some hope here even if the picture looks fake... surely MS had to realize that if they got that close with GE, why not go ahead and sort of re-do the project with something they *do* own, like Perfect Dark. Add in both the Banjo-Kazooie games being released, and it all seems like a totally plausible thing (which would be interesting to see just how well BK sold on XBLA).

Anyone know what kind of enhancements, if any, they made to the Banjo-Kazooie games? I'm wondering what to expect if this ends up being true.

A solid framerate is the least they could do as long as it's not straight emulation. It would be nice if they could also clean up stuff like the post-respawn blurring, like people mentioned. That was always one of the most glaring problems with multiplayer. Neutron bomb apocalypse!

I would venture to guess that if they fixed the framerate, the blur from tranquilizer darts and N-Bombs would be a bit clearer.

Either way, I'm in for a purchase if it happens. Day 1. One of my all-time favorites.

Tranquilizer, crossbow, combat knife and N-bomb weapon battles would be the first match I'd make. The joys of getting up to someone with the tranquilizer and using lethal injection...

I LOVED Perfect Dark so I would be all over this if true.

My friends and I used to set up a ton of dark fist bots, no shields and throw laptop guns all over :)

I'm not really sure how I feel about this, real or not. While I loved Perfect Dark like the rest of you, I enjoyed it because all of us would cram around a TV and play 4 v 4 bots. If they don't allow 4 person local multiplayer, I'd be a little upset.

The framerate on the old version wasn't too good -- so if it's realesed with that fixed, well, could be a big seller.

Day 1 buy for sure if they release it. One of my most favorite N64 games.

You can play with 4 players locally on PDZ, and the original PD. I don't see why it wouldn't be the case if they ported the original.

BTW, does anyone still play PDZ?

I'd buy this on release day if this happens. In a time where money is short, I don't see why they couldn't make this happen and make loads of cash.

Want, want, want, want, want, want, want, want, want! Please!!!
I would easily pay $20 or maybe even $30 for the full game on XBLA!

I'd pay 1200 for it if they polish the graphics. Hopping back onto Goldeneye the other day... old games need a facelift if they want to resell them. That and add HD/WS and you've got a deal.

This would without a doubt be my newest addiction. I must admit that the Gears and Halos have nothing on the original Perfect Dark. The multiplayer is still the best on consoles after all these years. Love, love, love the original PD.

I don't really like the Gears and Halo games. They just feel so juvenile to me, yet the James Bond type spy shooters are just fun. :)

I'd buy this day number one without a doubt!

Totally agree!

Like a lot of people here, I would buy this on day one if it came to XBLA. Perfect Dark was a classic and unfortunately nowadays it is almost unplayable because of the terrible frame rate. The same exact thing could be said about Goldeneye. I would buy that shit so fast if they released it on XBLA. However I am not holding my breath that either one of these games are ever gonna come to XBLA.

Bean!

Thanks to that last screenshot I've moved to foolishly-assuming-this-is-confirmed mode and am obsessively speculating about how the online might work.

So first thing I'm wondering... How much will the game change by not being able to see other players' screens? It'll be nice being able to set up traps or watch someone with a sniper rifle, but I worry that the Farsight will completely dominate now. I wonder if they'll do any tuning to account for that.

This would be kind of cool, and especially plausible if the rumors of a third Perfect Dark game are true.

I liked Zero better though, although I liked the aliens in 1.

I'd rather see Blast Corp or DK64 (somehow) or Jet Force Gemini though.

Regarding the changes-the ports of Banjo 1 and 2 are really nice. They run in wide screen, and the frame rates are fixed. The frame rate on Banjo 2 was its biggest problem-the N64 just couldn't handle that game at all. I suspect it was originally supposed to use that extra RAM, and then that got cut (to sell more copies), and we were left with something that for me was unplayable.

But he Xbox version runs in HD and widescreen, at a good frame rate (and probably with better controls too).
