I know it goes against most cag's general view of gamestop but if you got a good story post it here. To start things off I'll post one:

So I have been searching for a copy of ninja five o for gba. No one ever has this game in stock. So today I mention it and the guy checks inventory and sees a store out of state with it in stock. He says let me see what I can do. Now mind you they will transfer games but in this economy they are really watching expenses and it is less likely to happen. So the employee calls up the store and asks if they have the game. They tell him yes we do. He proceeds to tell them that he has an employee that recently bought a defective copy and could they transfer the game. They agree and are transferring the game. So for all you haters out there, there are some good stores and maybe I am just lucky. I also think the way some act when dealing with the employees is why you get the attitude or lack of service.

On another note, the only time to buy at gamestop is with the coupon deals or b2g1 free sales. I also think that stores should have different prices and trade values for incomplete games.

Bring on the goodness. LOL

Back when Gamestop still carried PS 1 games, I bought a copy of Koudelka off the Gamestop.com website, but it came with the case mostly in pieces. So I took it to the local Gamestop to return even though the discs and everything else looked like they were in fairly good condition. The guy who helped me out was so taken aback by the horrible condition the case was in for the game, and the fact that I wasn't returning a game they probably already had 1000 copies of, that he helped me switch the inserts out of the broken case and into one that still in tact. It was pretty fun switching that out since Koudelka came in one of those PS 1 cases that looked like it had 2 discs when it only had 1. So finding a similar case from the shelf was half the fun.
They once sold me a game I was looking for. And it was actually factory sealed :applause:
True Cag's don't have that problem as they never buy new at release.

My story pretty similar to rmb's. I was looking for one of the Halo 2 headsets for the original Xbox. The guy working called up a store out of state, said they needed it for an employee def. exchange, and got it shipped. Had it within a week.

The only time I ever had trouble with a GS was when the one by me was a Babbage's. The Manager used to shove any kind of sale (reserves/sub/system/cards/etc.) down your throat and was an all around bitch. It was borderline harrasment.

Found out later that she got fired because she got her phone bill billed to Babbage's and would keep the employee's over their scheduled time then go back later and adjust it so they wouldn't be over on payroll. Store has been a thousand times better since then.

Yeah, I have good stories. Everytime I go they help me out with whatever I need without being jackasses. They also give me their opinions on games if they suck or not, this isn't only in one but around 6 gamestops near me so that's why I don't care for the Gamestop whiners when I myself haven't been dissapointed

I went to buy some Xbox games today. They were very helpful in looking up the games I was looking for but couldn't find. They found the games for me and even switched out the generic cases with some of the originals they had. I also got a factory sealed Persona 3 FES without needing to ask. I don't think I've ever had a bad experience there. The GSs in my area are always helpful.

Nothing special from me personally, but several years back my mom got some great service...

My game magazines started running ads saying the PS1 Lunar Sliver Star Story was going out-of-print January 1st, so I begged my mom to get me one for Christmas. Naturally, it was already getting scooped up something fierce- the first few stores she went to practially laughed in her face when she asked for it. Then she went to a Gamestop, where the employee told her the chance of her finding it were slim- but he'd check all the local stores in the computer for her... and found exactly 1 copy, which he called and had held for her.

Not long after, she got me Lunar 2 for my birthday... she didn't pre-order, but the store apparently had an extra pre-order bonus and just gave it to her. I was really frickin' stoked when I got that punching puppet. :D

Well, I did this yesterday and went back to pick up my devil summoner 2 preorder today and the store he called and was having five-o transferred from must be pretty good as well. They had the game today for me from out of state. I was quite suprised.

The closest gamestop to me while I was in college treated me very well. I went in one time and the manager was doing some pre-order item cleaning and asked me if I wanted any of it free of charge. I ended up scoring 5 Suikoden V artbook/soundtracks, 3 Metal Gear Solid Acid Art Prints and 3 Dynasty Warriors Art Books. Needless to say after that he always hooked me up with leftover pre-order stuff if he had it. Sadly he had to quit because the commute to the store was getting to expensive for him.

Another time at the same GS, a very disgruntled employee who was on the verge of quitting/getting fired hooked me up royally on my trade ins. My 360 had just gotten the RROD and he gave me some serious bumps on everything. He also put my 20 GB HD in as a 120 GB one and got me even more.

All in all I really have never had a problem with GS. The one that is closest to me where I live now is awesome and the manager also hooks me up with stuff sometimes as well. They have no problems swaping bad discs for me (my halo wars was seriously fuck 'ed up and they exchanged it)

I made a profit off of a Game trade.

I bought a copy of Castlevania, Portrait of Ruin for 10 bucks a pawn shop, hated the game, and 2 months ago traded it in, and in was 9.76 + 10% which gave me a total of 10.73.

I've never had anything spectacular happen to me, but the employees at the store I go to are always more than happy to give me their opinion on a game I am iffy on buying and providing me with ideas of games that I may be interested in. Basically, I can't complain about any gamestop experiences.

Well there was that one time I spent $4 at another store and got $40 in DS game credit at Gamestop. Those were good times.

Nothing is better then when the manager knows you flip games from other stores, and not only does not mind, but encourages it so long as everything is legit. Ive been getting games at a couple GS for pennies on the dollar for over a year now. Have to throw them some preorders every once in a while too though.

Using Gamestop's tiered trade bonuses at the end 2008/early 2009 to my advantage got me a Xbox 360 and 80GB BC PS3 for under $250 out of pocket

I got my local GS to price match Wal-Mart once for a GBA link cable. That was way back in '02 when the manager was a cool dude I chatted up with.

happened to me too. when radioshack went down under i picked up some ps 2 games that i didnt really enjoy, 15 in total(titles like atv offroad fury and some other half decent games) I added a dmc 2 with them and traded them in, on the receipt i assumed it said $45.00 but when i went there the next time to buy a game my receipt said i still had $418 dollars on it, looking back on the trade in receipt i realized it said $450. Come to think of it the employee there seemed really pissed...or stoned...or both

None, really. I haven't shopped at a Gamestop since I got my Wii on the first release day. I avoid it like the plague most times unless I'm in the mall just fartin' around.

I haven't really had any problems with Gamestop. My best experience was just recently when I picked up a copy of Persona 3 FES as part of the Game Day sales for $14.99, it was sealed too! They even searched the local area to see if more copies were avaiable at other stores in my area.

This makes sense, since a lot of Gamestops smell like ass.

GameStop is really good for finding rarer and/or more expensive used accessories for cheap, because they often lump in a generic category. Find instance, you can get Wavebirds for under $20 and the 360 Harmony remote for under $10. Of course, finding such things is pretty hard, but they are one of the main reasons I will always check out a GS store if I'm the mall or something. Always, always worth just taking a peek.
$25 for DOA 4 stick brand new, bought it ages ago :)
Oh, so lucky, I'm still looking for one of those to this day.

Honestly, these last few years have been average for me. Not going out of the way for a customer, but not being an ass either.

Now, many years ago, there was one paticular GS that was my favorite. Manager was really cool, and so were his employees. They gave me quite a couple free tshirts, overstocked pre-order items, etc. Randomly throwing in discounts, many occassions where they would even give me the employee discount. (I have to give credit to my mom though, half of the employees there ate at her restraunt ;)) Of course, all good things eventually came to an end when I believe he got promoted, and many of his employees also moved on.
