I just ordered a seemingly great reviewed set of psyclone ones off amazon, they arrived, looked solid and then I noticed the picture on the instructions was a 360....The company was cool and refunded me without forcing me to ship them back, but that means I still need a set of cables. I can find regular component, but nothing else with optical out nor another set of these psyclone cables anyway(that was the last one even listed on amazon).
 
why dont you just get component cables and a optical cable from monoprice? You cab probably get both for like 10 bucks + 3 bucks shipping.

$.97 for 3ft optical cable. the signal is digital so there is little chance of degradation as long as you face the plugs correctly.

I can't remember if the regular xbox has optical on the physical console or if you HAVE to have the "Advanced AV Pack" but you can get it cheap cheap on Amazon http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B00005R6Z0/ref=dp_olp_new?ie=UTF8&condition=new

if you do have to have the advanced av pack, that's even better, because standard component cables are super cheap on monoprice.

I think you're missing my point because unless I'm blind, the xbox, like the 360, has no optical audio port on it and you have to use the port on the component cables.

so like I said, buy XBOX advanced av pack. then buy a component cable and an optical cable. monoprice has awesome prices and Ive never had touble with them.

The Av pack plugs into the Xbox, then you plug the component cables and the optical cable into that. then the other end of all the cables goes to receiver or whatever your sound source is.

i have an advanced AV pack that i didnt sell GS cuz they offered .25 cents. it has s-video & optical audio out. u live near TX? id just give it 2 u if thats the one u need.

That would get you component video but not optical sound. you NEED Advanced AV pack and assorted cables (standard Compontet and an optical cable) OR those Psyclone cables with the Optical port (good luck finding them though + you would ONLY be able to use that for XBOX, rather than having a spare TOSLINK [optical] cable and a set of component cables )

Yeah that's what I bought, it was "the last one" for sale, and then I got the 360 cables in, and the company said the right kind is OOS. I guess I'll try this method then thanks, I already bought the optical cable with all of my others so I just need the adapter and component cables.
 
yeah i have the "microsoft advanced AV pack" and it only has 1 optical out, s-video, 1 left & 1 right audio & 1 video.

it seems that many sites incorrectly represent the Advanced vs. the HD Advanced pack. Gamestop (http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?product_id=18821) for instance shows the "Advanced AV Pack" for the product page of the "HD Advanced AV Pack"

I tried to find a cheap one, but it seems to be a rarity for less than 30-50 bucks unfortunately.

I did however find this dubious yahoo store who claims to have on for CAG price. http://store.richspsxparts.com/xbhideavpafo.html
