Hot tea, meteor shower and the CAGcast whats better?

ohh btw that intro music was sooo bad
Wow Raystorm is coming out? awesome game that I used to play over and over on this demo disk I had
Guys I think doing a show on nothing is a great idea! I always listen to the old casts just for the random nonsense then move on :D

About that DLC...I used to play a free game called "Gunbound" until they introduced pay items, my friend bought a few items for his character and he was unbeatable. DLC is fine when it's completely harmless but when it breaks the game or gives the buyer a big advantage it just ruins the game.

I was about to go to bed right now and then I see this, I'm super tired though so I'll listen to this while I try to go to bed and have Wombat and CheapyD lull me to sleep :p

Is there a suggestion thread for the iPhone App functionality?
I know that I and others would like some kind of easier PM access; Toggling back and forth between normal and iPhone optimized mode has a very high PITA level- especially when I am just doing it for PMs.
Thanks in advance.

Honestly I am disappointed that GRIN may be closing down. I was surprised at how fun WANTED was, and Bionic Commando only solidified them as one of my favorite developers. They didnt set the videogame world on fire but they made games that were plain fun. I need games that are accessible and that I can actually finish in a reasonable amount of time, and GRIN delivered.

Cheapapp Gamer sounded good till I realized it is going to sound like it is a cheap *app* gamer. Essentially a gamer who is looking for cheap apps. The title will be very misleading.

Yeah it dosent really work outside of being kind of a clever name.

Its Simple Jack, not happy Jack.
Tainted love could been the outro theme too.

I ask about introducing your kids to games, I ask about Japanese gameshows, I ask about a whole bunch of other stuff I can't remember, and the first time something I ask the CAGbag makes it onto the show, it's about porn. :(

Excellent!

Edit: I don't feel so bad about my backlog now, hearing Wombat mention his. :p

I just listened to the part about an iPhone application, would there be any interest in an Android app as well? I work with Android a bit anyways so I could help out in developing an application for it if people would like that. And I use an Android phone personally so that's a reason to do it as well. ;-) Does anyone else here use one?

Guys, they HAVE to list the games at MSRP or retailers will be pissed.

Besides, Steam does the same thing. People only give them a pass because of all the amazing sales they do. Look at Left 4 Dead -- a Valve game -- it's $40 on Steam and in stores. Or how about Warhammer online. That's $40 on Steam while it's $14 on Amazon and less than $40 in most other places.

If someone buys me an Android phone, I'll make an Android version. ;)

I think the thing that doomed Grin was taking on too many projects at once even with a few studios outside of their main studio. I don't think they made any games that were that bad to deserve to be fired.

Xbox 360 Games with worse Metacritic scores than Terminator Salvation:
Zombie Wranglers
Damnation
Infernal: Hell's Vengeance
G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra
Leisure Suit Larry: Box Office Bust
Shellshock 2
Onechanbara
FunTown Mahjong
Interpol: The Trail of Dr. Chaos
MLB Front Office Manager

Of course, if these are the only games it can be listed as being better than, it's not in great shape.

Good show.

Pissed at what? That games they haven't carried for over a year are cheaper than they were when they were stocked? Left4Dead's a recent game that has sold well enough to not warrant a price drop with a sequel and DLC coming later this year.

Looking at Steam, Bioshock is $20 there and $30 on the Xbox 360. Call of Duty 2 is $20 on Steam and $30 on Xbox Live, so it's not like Valve is cowering at whatever is making Microsoft decide on those prices. There are definitely examples why some of these prices are the way they are, but they can't use that same excuse for the rest.

I think Grin would have faired much better, had they not taken on too many projects at once. Having one game bomb is one thing, but having two or three, in such a short space of time, could easily end you. I don't know of any developer that has had three bad games come out so close to each other.

I guess their talented staff will find work, good luck to them, especially in todays climate. I know first hand, its a jungle out there.

I'm pretty sure we will be tracking iPhone games too. ;)

dear cagcasters,

the chemistry between you two seems to be on a steady decline. I've noticed it in the past few episodes, but never really saw it necessary to post about it. But in a lot of the segments its either Cheapy talking or Wombat talking. The back and forth is almost non existent. its almost as if im listening to two separate podcasts at the same time. For example, whenever Cheapy does the iphone game segment, its just him talking, and Wombats mic might as well be off. I understand that it might be difficult to talk about a game that you haven't played or even heard of, but when you're making comparisons, it'd be nice for Wombat to chime in or ask questions here or there.
And i think its weird that Wombat has his own section. its almost as if the cagcast is just creating this divide within itself. Cheapy seems to be a little better at adding things, but for most of the time it seems as if the two of you aren't really talking to each other, you're just reading news stories...

sorry this was kind of long, and im not meaning to come off as a dick, just trying to throw out some constructive criticisms. still love the cast and listen to it every week.

Hey Cheapy are you going to be doing a Pepsi Shiso taste test. It is that time of year again

[CAGbag Question]What will it take for you to log in to PlayStation Home at least once a week?[/CAGbag Question]

Heh, sorry but I don't think I can help you with that part. (I only get phones for personal/professional use at work.)

But if there is anyone wanting an app for Android I could make it. I already do Android development at home and at work so I'm all set with tools and licenses.

Cheapy you should sell your underwear on those adult fetish sites. I am sure you could easily get your money back on them, especially since they have been worn lol.

Cheapy, Wombat, I just read the news about the exclusive HOME Batcave you get if you purchase Batman: Arkham Asylum or the PS3. I know it is something you will likely never use, but might be something you would want to have to explore or show off to friends (specially Wombat), does that change your decision on whether you might end up getting the game for PS3 or Xbox360?

I personally think this is one of my favourite CAG Casts. It had me laughing a lot! Excellent show! :applause:

BUT

There needs to be more love for the UK!

You want us to talk more about Uncircumcised Kangaroos?

Yes, this is a very serious issue which needs to be raised. :p

Cheapy, if you use "Cheap App Gamer" as the app name, can i get some credit? i was the first to post that suggestion in your thread. DesertEagleXIX is my witness! :)

btw, Wombat's rant about the Star Wars prequels was hilarious! "the force ain't fucking with you!" LOL

OMG, i remember the Animal Olympics cartoon too! i watched the Cantonese dub when i was a kid, hahaha.

for the love of all things holy can someone please hook me up with a MP3 of the theme from "Electric Blue?" I like CheapyD have been looking for that "song" for years. It was a very formidable part of my "growing" years. Anyway, hearing it on the Cagcast brought a "sticky, clear" tear to my eye......from laughter!

Wombat - concerning avatar marketplace on Xbox Live...

Yes, it is ridiculous that they are offering avatar clothing and accessories for sales, and at high prices too. But, I don't understand why you are so surprised by this. This business model has been going on for years in the MMO and other online community games. Consider Gundam, which requires you to use "gold" to buy accessories for your tank/robot, gold that you accrue by winning 4,000 battles or by purchasing it with real dollars. Or how about Club Penguin, one of the biggest online communities where kids and tweens gladly fork over their parents money so that their penguin avatars are wearing sunglasses or funky hats.

Again, I agree that nickel and dimeing us is not cool, but you're not necessarily the target market for this strategy anyway. Plenty of teens are glad to dish out the dough for this stuff. Complain about it all you want, but don't act surprised or confused by this business practice. Plenty of evidence to justify it's prevalence.
