Imagine an 8-bit RPG turned into a 3D world.
At least that's what I get out of the scan.

Story bits:

3D Dot Game Heroes is set in the Kingdom of Dotnia. This world was once made up of 2D sprite art like something out of an old school game. However, wanting to attract more people to the kingdom, the king decided to use technology to make everything 3D. This is where something goes horribly wrong, although just what that is has yet to be specified.

I love the artstyle and can't wait to find out more.

I've never been attracted to the lego game series aesthetically, but I can really get behind this. It's adorable.

Yeah, the screen screen with the hero and the king looks straight out of Dragon Warrior.
 
Wow, usually I would pass over a game from Atlus, but this game is going on my radar. I love the art style and would like to see how it looks in motion.
 
The nice thing about 8-bit is that when speaking of sexuality, it slides right in. You'll just have problems if you're missing a dot or have an extra dot seeing as it's not very flexible.


On another note, the game looks interesting. I'm definitely looking forward to it. I'd be willing to bet that this will get localized, so here's hoping to sooner rather than later.
 
Wow, I was a little worried seeing it in motion might disappoint.

But no.......... no.
A beautiful homage to Zelda from the enemies to the music.
Along with elements from all the better 8 bit classics.

Wow. It literally is a smash up of Zelda 1 and 3, all in 8 bit, but 3dorized. Music, jumping spider doods, rocks falling down off mountains....it's all there.

That's a reason to pick up a PS3.

From Software is killing it... first Demon's Souls was awesome and this being their next game. May have a new favorite dev!
 
It also looks like it should be easy to port to other consoles.


Aren't all PS3 games region free anyway? Should be able to import and play, right? Now hopefully there's an English option...

Maybe its due to my childhood gaming nostalgia, but I'm hoping there's an option to enable 8-bit music and sound effects.
 
Very odd that Sony announced it like this. Especially since they're not publishing it. I guess we'll get NA details soon.

Maybe they are publishing it? Maybe they liked what they saw from Demon Souls sales and decided to step in and give it a push from within? That would be really awesome!
 
No, Sony said they are not publishing, but got the go ahead to "leak" that it is coming stateside from the actual publisher. Probably to head importers off at the pass. If I had to guess, based on From Software's Demon's Souls success and the fact that they are saying "don't import"... I'd guess Atlus. Could be wrong. I'm sure we will find out soon! YES!
