Got my latest XBN magazine in the mail today (ironically enough, free from CAG), and flipping through it, in their blurbs of web sites to "tune in" to, I see www.cheapassgamer.com at the bottom. A small shot of the front page, showing the Panzer Dragoon Orta and Skies of Arcadia Legends deal at Best Buy, with this text at the bottom:

Use this site wisely, well, and often. It'll help you find great deals on cheap videogames. A quick search revealed a sweet offer for Panzer Dragoon Orta ($10 with free shipping). As a cheapskate and a gamer, you need to check this out.

I just picked up the issue and sure enough, there we are, nestled in the bottom left hand corner of page 40.
I'll try to see if I can commandeer a scanner somewhere.

I think we solved it. The XBN editor bought out all the copies of Orta.
 
good job cheapy, you've had this site up for what, like 7 months? A very good and practical idea you had and now you're getting some well deserved recognition for it.
 
Yes, it would be interesting to find out who it is here. :)

Either way, congrats on the recognition. This site has saved me tons of money in its short existance.

Maybe the free advertising will bring in some special deals and more hits to your site. This can only be a good thing.
 
Wow....I just picked up my issue and checked it out. Big step in the right direction......good stuff. How long has this site been around, anyway?
 
I'm sure this will lead to a few more deals but most people who see the url in magazine will just come here and lurk. It's nice to have a lot of deals going but its no fun when a few people buy out everything before everyone else can get to it. Ya, it may only be a few people that do this but with more people on the board there is a higher chance someone is using the site to turn large profit.
 
I give props to "Guessed" that was funny.. Hopefully he wasnt one of the ones who bought SoA:L.. Grr.. I missed em.. I was waiting for pops to get home to order.. Then forgot.. Then sold out.. Blah!

I feel like most people will see the url in the magazine and then just forget about it before they get to a computer.

I know thats what I usually do.

That's what I usually do too. But some how I remembered (GameNow, not XBN).

i came here because someone mentioned it in the letters section of EGM.
 
I know someone who writes for XBN...i'll tell him to check out this thread.
 
yeah i came here to because it was mentioned in a magazine.Someone wrote in about one of their "how to find great deals" or something articles and said they got better deals on CAG
