It's great to see WVU so high, though I'm a bit skeptical about being a top 10 team. A lot of second year player and a couple freshman will really have to step it up for the team to be that good.

I need to pay more attention during the off season. I didn't know Texas was supposed to be good this season.

I guarantee Kansas, Mich. St., or Kentucky wins it all this year. I'm sure a lot of people think that already though...

This 76 Classic tournament WVU in has been full of Upsets.

WVU has made the finals as expected, but all the other ranked teams lost. Was hoping to get Clemson and then Butler or Minnesota in the final to get a couple early tests against other ranked teams. But Clemson lost to Texas A&M (who WVU beat yesterday). And Butler lost to Minnesota, and Minnesota was then upset by Portland (who had absolutely crushed UCLA in their first game).

So WVU gets Portland in the title game tomorrow night.

This thread sunk like a stone, but figured with the conference tourneys under way and the Big Dance starting next week it's a good time for a bump!

Day of upsets in the Big East so far. Georgetown took out Syracuse and Marquette knocked off Villanova. Notre Dame is up by 3 on Pitt at the half.

Hope it doesn't continue with the WVU-Cincy game at 9!

Pitt lost to Notre Dame.

WVU escapes with a 3 point win over Cincy on a 3 pointer bank shot at the buzzer.

Crazy day in the big east with only one of the top 4 teams with double byes winning.

I hope Murray State can finally get their first NCAA win since 1988. Would be the perfect way to cap off their most successful season ever (currently at 30 wins, 1 better than my freshman year in 97-98, the previous best.)

Hoping to see Ole Miss take down Tennessee today so we can get into the tourney, and if Tennessee plays like they did yesterday I think we can do it. Hopefully they're pretty tired from the game yesterday.

I'd also love to see Alabama take down Kentucky at 12:00, just for laughs and to get my day started right.

WVU is giving me an ulcer. Another ugly win 53-51 over Notre Dame. Will have to play MUCH better to beat a resurgent Georgetown team in the championship game tomorrow.

If they can win, and Duke loses tomorrow or Sunday, WVU probably gets the last 1 seed. They beat Ohio State and have a much better RPI ranking. Have a 2 seed at worst locked up.

My grad school alma mater Maryland went down to GT. That was probably for the best as hopefully they'll get a 6 seed vs. getting up to the 4/5 seed line with a win or two in the ACC tourney and getting stuck in the 1 seed half of the bracket.

Some people have the traditional Running with the bulls, my Rebels have the traditional Shitting of the bed. And we shit right on cue today.

After all the big schools in the ACC went down, I think Duke winning the ACC Championship is a given at this point.

After watching my seminoles poor performance last night (turnovers they did to themselves, poor execution on the offensive floor, and poor defense of the three point line), I hope they learn from that game (NC State) for when the NCAA tourney starts.

Yeah, not much chance of Duke going down--though they did lose to both GT and NC State this year.

Not a big deal either way. They'll either be the 2 seed in Duke's bracket, or be the 1 seed with Duke as the 2 seed in their bracket.

Kentucky steals one, so many questionable things at the end including the lane violation by John Wall at the end that wasn't called.. oh well

I'm pretty sure Miss St will still be in the tourney

Duke survived as well, so they should get the 1 seed with WVU as the 2 seed in their bracket (probably the west regional).

Surprised Ohio State destroyed Minnesota in the second half, going so far as to not miss a shot for over eight minutes. I hope they keep that up going into the tournament if they want to get to Kansas.
Exactly, they put on a clinic in the second half. Congrats Buckeyes Big Ten champs!

Midwest region is going to be very tough. I think as long as they don't play a team full of sharpshooters, a ton of long players, an unlimited bench or a major low-post presence they have a chance. They need to continue to have Lighty, Bufford, Lauderdale and Diebler contribute. ET is great and is the reason they made it this far but when the rest of the team is scoring, the Buckeyes are nearly unstoppable. Last, but certainly not least they need some help from the bench.

Oh no! Purdue has to play Siena in the first round they might be making an early exit.

Fail

I'm going for a ton of upsets this year, it should be a great few weeks.

Looking at my team's placement (FSU), I feel fairly good about our chances vs another division. I think Syracuse is the weakest of the 1 seeds.

Gonzaga is going to take it to the 'Noles.
Is it just me, or does the West look absolutely insane? And why does Duke draw the easiest bracket, on paper?
I agree re Duke. The Committee always shows them the love.
I agree re Duke. The Committee always shows them the love.
WVU should be the #1 in Duke's Bracket. I hope Winthrop wins play-in game and knocks off Duke.

Yeah, Duke got the good treatment as usual.

I like WVU's draw ok. Morgan State should be easy, Clemson/Missouri is tougher but not bad. Then New Mexico/Marquette in the Sweet 16 most likely. I'll take it.
Absolute insanity that Gonzaga is an 8 seed, Syracuse will be in trouble assuming they meet.

Also, Gauchos over Buckeyes.

Book it.
Ohio St easily makes it to Georgetown game if not Elite 8. Evan Turner is the real deal.

Duke's bracket although easy also has the toughest 2 seed in my opinion in Villanova. I have Nova going to Final Four. Toughest bracket looks like the East. It is the toughest to call since (to me) alot of the lower seeds are better teams then the upper seeds.

How does Villanova draw a 2 seed (Losing 5 of thier last 7 games) and a ridiculous easy bracket, and Temple (A-10 regular and Tourney Champ) get a 5 seed? Me thinks the Committee has a thing for the Big East, as ususal.

RE: Duke's seeding.

Committee probably gave Coach K a cake walk due to rumors of him jumping ship and wants to keep him around.

That being said,

Louisville over Duke in the 2nd round.

Easiest pick of the year.

'Nova as a #2 is a laugher, especially the top #2 seed. That honor goes to WVU, who should be a #1 in place of Duke. Duke will hopefully get knocked out by Louisville, hopefully Winthrop (I can dream that Duke would be the first #1 to lose their 1st game). The East is a beast. I hope UK can make it past the winner of the 8/9 game. I think their toughest matchup, outside of a matchup with WVU, will be their 3rd game, assuming they make it that far).

Temple got shit on with seeding. Nova is a 3 at best, more likely a 4. They played in the Big East is the only reason I think they got love at #2.

I like the way you think. :)

I worry about the Buffalo site for the Zags -- historically, they have not done particularly well with cross-country trips.

I would worry more about the mismatching against the Noles (every one of our players that plays is over 6'4... plus I don't think you have an answer for Chris Singleton 6'9 SF). There is a reason why we are the number 1 team in all the NCAA in opponent field goal percentage. Our only achielles heel is ourselves. That's all you can hope for.

We don't have a big problem with size per se -- we have guys that are 7', 7' 5", and 6' 11". We have more trouble with extreme quickness, which FSU lacks.

I think if GU can get the 'Noles on the run it won't be pretty for FSU. But, I admit the 'Noles defense is very good in a half-court game.

What an incredible set of early games!

Old Dominion beats Notre Dame 51-50
BYU beats Florida 99-92 in 2OTs
Villanova is down all game, and gets help from the refs to beat Robert Morris 73-70 on OT.
Murray State!
You better believe it! First NCAA win since 88 after MANY painful close losses and a couple of blowouts. First OVC team to win an NCAA game in I don't know how long. Seals up best Racer team ever in my book as they have an NCAA win and 31 overall wins.

Now can they pull an SIU from 2002 and actually get into the Sweet 16?

Another great game with our first buzzer beater of the tourney for Murray State!

Baylor pulled away from Sam Houston late to win by 9.

K-State is killing North Texas.

Richmond and St. Mary's is a 3 point game with a lot of time to play.

My brackets doing pretty good so far. 4/5 right. Missed ND, but had them going down to Baylor in the next round anyway.

That 2007 team was sick, and they should have beat Kansas! They outplayed them that night, but got a few unfavorable calls down the stretch.

I'm in the same boat, but opposite. I got the ND/OD game, but missed the Murray St. game. Had MS losing to Butler next round anyways. And I'm also 4/5

Psst please. The wolfpack are going to be raising that banner and they are going to lock in their hot freshmen class with this run.

St Mary's wins by 9 and K-State by 20. 6-1 in my bracket so far.

Have UTEP in the one ongoing game before the night games start.

Man, Butler came out on fire in the 2nd half. Went from being down 6 at the break, to up 16 with 9 minutes left.

First big miss for me (unless something crazy happens) as I had UTEP in the sweet 16.

Not lucking good...Ohio up 16 wit 15 minutes to play. Would screw my bracket since I have them in the Elite 8.

But I'm in no money pools this year, so I don't care. And I hate Georgetown.
