What's in your GCN library?

Mattiful-Joe

Henshin a go-go, baby!
I wanted to see what games people have on their Gamecubes. Since the system is officially *dead* and has been for several years now, I presume most people have moved. I grabbed a few more GCN games a while back (just a few I'd been dying to try out) but at 67 titles, I'm officially done buying any more software for it.

What games are in your library? Are there any more you want to pick up?

Below is my library. Vast majority of my games were bought new -- and even the used ones are like new. A few are still unopened, and those are marked with a (*). Player's Choice games are marked (PC); if there is no indication, then it is the original release edition.

I have them stuffed in a box, but I hope I can remember:

Eternal Darkness
Baten Kaitos Origins
Metal Gear Twin Snakes
Mario Sunshine
Mega Man X Collection
Mega Man Collection
Luigi's Mansion
Skies of Arcadia Legends
Mario Kart Double Dash
Resident Evil 4
Resident Evil

Chibi Robo

All black label, no PC

I would consider picking up some titles I may have missed, I'm sure it's all cheap at this point.

My (fairly new) collection consists of

Platinum GC system
4 Platinum wavebird controllers

Mario Power Tennis (Best Seller, No manual)
Mario Kart: Double Dash!!
Mario Superstar Baseball (Disc Only)
Super Smash Bros. Melee (Best Seller)
Super Mario Strikers

Eventually I hope to pick up the Mario Party games, Pikmin, MGS: TTS, zeldas, etc. Pretty much the good first party / exclusive games. Also I hope to make the rest of my current collection complete / non players choice / best seller. Doubt that will happen, but I can dream.

:7/27 Update:

Animal Crossing
Dance Dance Revolution: Mario Mix
F-Zero GX
Mario Kart: Double Dash
Mario Party 7
Mario Power Tennis
Mario Superstar Baseball
Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour
Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes
Metroid Prime
Metroid Prime 2: Echoes
Pikmin 2 (Disc only)
Starfox Adventures
Super Smash Bros. Melee (Best Seller)
Super Mario Strikers
Super Mario Sunshine
Soul Calibur II (Keeping for Link exclusive)
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 (Just because it's one of my favorite titles last gen)

Going to soon finish the Mario collection (Need Mario Party 4, 5, 6, and Paper Mario). Then I'll move on to Nintendo published titles (mainly on the hunt to complete my Pikmin 2, get Pikmin, and start working on the Zelda titles), then just exclusives. Also looking for some accessories (2 1019 memory cards, GBA Player, some others), and a boxed system on craigs on the cheap. Seen a few, just never able to get out and pick them up.

LOL -- nope; not my kind of game. I'll buy the occasional "younger" targeted title but that one is not on my list of wants.

BTW, I do have an XBX and PS2 (135 and 175 games, respectively); most cross-platform 3rd party games were bought on one of these two consoles.

I did make an exception with Fight Night Round 2, SSX On Tour and NBA Street V3 because Fight Night had Super Punch Out!! and Mac :) And the other two had Team Mario -- too cool!

That game was on the bottom of my wish list anyway and I was planing on buying it cheap. But then again, the last time I bought a cheap game (Xenosaga) I still regretted the purchase. So I'll take your advice on this one.

Eternal Darkness
F-Zero GX (got so much play out of this baby)
Windwaker
Paper Mario
MGS Twin Snakes
Resident Evil
Resident Evil Zero
Viewtiful Joe

It's a small library, but good times, good times.

Mario Kart: Double Dash
Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes
Metroid Prime
Metroid Prime 2
Resident Evil
Tales of Symphonia
Zelda: Collector's Edition
Zelda: Twilight Princess

Haven't yet played any of them, but I'm thinking those are some of the best GameCube had to offer from what I've read. I already know Twin Snakes will be awesome. About the only games I don't have for the system that I want are Eternal Darkness, Crystal Chronicles, and possibly Pikmin.

i don't have many, but:

Super Mario Sunshine
Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness
Pokemon Colosseum

those are the four games I plan on keeping.

Started collecting GameCube titles after buying a Wii - the low prices made it easy to start collecting, and if you are a Goozex trader it's even cheaper. Now I've got almost all the games I want from last generation... although I'm still waiting on matches for Alien Hominid and The Simpson's Hit and Run.

LOL -- I have PoP 2 on Gamecube (which allegedly was the only one of the multiplatform versions to not have sound errors). I have all three on the XBOX -- haven't even opened the third one :p I typically bought 3rd party multiplatform games on the XBOX last-gen b/c they were usually better (even if only slightly -- crisper graphics, faster load times, etc.).

BTW, I wonder if Ubisoft will republished the Sands of Time trilogy next year with the PoP movie coming out. Movie looks like a great popcorn flick -- and I would expect no less from the people (Bruckheimer) who brought us Pirates of the Caribbean.

This film should be a nice visual treat ... I suspect Bruckheimer and Disney want to one-up Bay's Transformers. I can see Jerry watching Transformers and telling himself, "Heh -- they think THIS is action-packed? Bay thinks THIS is good? Heck, I invented this genre." :)

Of course, the irony is that Disney's Buena Vista now owns the distribution rights for Dreamworks films ... so that means the 3rd Transformers film will have Disney stamped on it :)

I whittled down my collection to just the favs:

Baten Kaitos

Are you using it for the multiplayer? The single player I feel is much much inferior in 2 than 1.

My collection is quite impressive!

RE4.

That's it, sadly. I am debating going back and re-purchasing all of the RE games, as well as the exclusives on the system. I've just been focused on getting games I'll probably never play on my 360. (I've finally come to the realization that I think I like finding the deal on a game more than actually playing games. The hunt has become the game.)

I'll fully admit to being a Gamecube junkie. I took this pic about 2 years ago, but it's probably grown quite a bit since then. Currently stands at about 500, I think. I actually replaced the ten or so Players Choice versions with originals last year...

I've recently been hit with the Gamecube bug. I love the little guy. Been looking to build a collection up of them (only the decent-good titles... none of that shovelware Madden-level gunk). I'm always crawling CAG Trading for some, but nobody really has any titles listed :\

Try joining Goozex! You can get good value for your points buying GameCube games, and (with a little patience) should still be able to get some decent titles coming your way.

There are two catches though:
(1) You need to trade out enough games to grow your reputation so that you can have multiple matches coming your way. Otherwise you end up waiting a long time.
(2) Even after trading out some games, be patient. The queue system takes a while for your name to reach the top, especially for less common games.

Goozex is how I got most of my collection, and it was an absolute steal. Took the better part of a year, but I think there is only one GameCube title left that I really want. (Skies of Arcadia is really tough to find though.)

I didn't like goozex for Wii games, they seemed to come really banged up a lot. (360 games did too, but you can install those to make sure they work)

Since I switched to getting a bunch of PS2 and GC games though, I don't think I have had a single game come that wasn't in good to great condition.

Currently matched for 5 last gen games, will add many hours to my backlog.

As for Skies of Arcadia, I am happy I picked that up for 20 bucks years ago before I knew what a quality game was.

Edit: Would Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean be recommended? Does it hold up well?

I don't have many, as I never owned a gamecube. My "gamecube" is built into my wii which I just got this past christmas.

I have:

F Zero X
Geist
Killer 7
Megaman X Collection
Viewtiful Joe 1 & 2
Wind Waker

There's some more I plan to get, but I don't get into town often thanks to the times of when I work. So when I am working, everything is closed and I don't feel like making a 2nd trip half the time. Plus others, I either own for the xbox (such as Soul Caliber II) or will eventually own for the wii (such as Resident Evil 4)

Hmm...

The voice acting is terrible, and the graphics that people loved mostly look like pre-rendered backgrounds with some lighting effects added. The story is predictable early on but has just enough twists to keep you interested after the mid-way point. The card-based gameplay was really neat though, and is the reason this game is worth going back to. Earning and using different cards is interesting, especially since cards change over time. Learning how to create combos in battle takes some effort and experimentation, but is pretty cool once you start generating your own new cards. The only downside is that a lot of time can be wasted when you have to adjust character decks late in the game.

Baten Kaitos isn't a top-flight RPG, but is a good niche title that does things differently and is worth trying. It's easy enough to get sucked into finishing the game once - and that's at least 40+ hours of entertainment value. I'd recommend adding it (or the Origins prequel) into your Goozex queue.

I've been playing a lot of Gamecube games lately (relative to my total time spent gaming) so I thought i'd share my humble collection. My wife got me a used gamecube for my birthday last year and since my 60 gb ps3 just died my cube has been my goto previous gen system (I've played a lot of SSX3 lately).

Good choices. I am right there with you on Metroid Prime but my Resident Evil of choice is Resident Evil 4. Probably in my top 5 favorite games of all time
