UPDATE: Dropped to 14.99
ALSO! I've played maybe 3-4 hours in and it seems like a pretty good game!
Figured I'd post this one here as it just went down $10.00
"Price Drop - Old Price: $29.99 Save $10.00"

I actually never heard anyone mention this game, rightfully so as not even Amazon carries it. Saw it while browsing gamestop a few months back @34.99 I think, passed on it and made a mental note of it. Checked videos/reviews when I got home and it was hardly documented at all, but seemed to be all positive by users. Last B2G1 sale (after Christmas) I saw it at my local GS again and asked for sealed copies, still was 29.99, but they had two copies. Low and behold I checked today and it's 19.99 14.99 online.

It seems like it could be a hidden gem. Gameplay reminds me a lot of PoPoLoCrois - a hybrid SRPG/JRPG. The graphics look beautiful and cheery. On Gamespot, ~20 User Score is 8.8. Professional critics gave it harsh reviews though, averaged 6.5 I believe and saw as low as 4.5. Then again, Brave Story also only got a 6.5 from GameSpot, but IMO is one of the most excellently designed classical JRPGs this generation.

As I said, only availabe at Gamestop and likely has a limited print. Might be a good idea to pick one up NOW if you want a sealed copy, as all of us know how impossible it is to track down sealed games @ B&M Gamestops. Additionally, sealed copies are listed at an inflated 68 on Amazon's Marketplace, used are 34.

I bought this at launch and I like it. The setup of the dungeons is interesting where you order it from a menu like you are at a diner.(ok not like a diner but that is what it reminds of when you do it) The story is really a side note. All the stuff in the beginning are fetch quests or kill a certain monster. That being said I am only about 5-6 hours in so I am not sure if it gets more diverse.

Even though its UMD (looks at PSP Go) I think I will still get this. Sounds like it could be rare! Thanks OP!!

edit: 1 copy USED w/in 100 miles, but plenty of new...guess people are holding onto this one.

I'll wait for $10 and I'll pick it up in store. The reason there are so few used copies is no one is buying the new copies :)

got this the first week it came out (before people knew about it) via amazon for 10.59 shipped ... played it around 3 or 4 hours and put it down... It was a good game when i first got it but i just cant get back into it...

there is no world map... you make your own dungeons ...i think there is even only 1 town

nice game for 10 or 15 dont know if i would pay 20.. (should be 15 or 10 soon enough)

ALSO

Mytran Wars has fallen to 15 (been 15 since monday before xmas) still got it sealed was hoping it would fall to 10

These games should fall further, especially where I live because almost no one buys RPG games here. I might bite at 9.99 for either mytran or this. Also I don't like this idea of gamestop exclusives, that just tells me your game wasn't good enough to make it to full retail production.

While I agree with others about the probability of the game dropping further in price, I went ahead and bought one. It seems like sealed copies of games like this one always disappear when they drop to the $10 price range at my local GS.

Thanks, OP!

As far as I know, most of the GS exclusives have been Natsume games. Since they're such a small company, I'd imagine they see making non-Harvest Moon games GS exclusives as a way for saving money.

Anyway, I agree about waiting for $10.

Has anyone been able to use the SAVER code for free shipping on this? SAVER is supposed to give you free value shipping, but the site is claiming the following:

"The coupon entered will not provide a discount based on the current contents of your shopping cart. You may continue checkout without a discount or read the coupon description below and make the appropriate changes to your shopping cart or shipping method selected. Coupon description :
Coupon:SAVER - Free Value Shipping"

There is no "coupon description below" to inform me what the issue is.

Thanks in advance.
I'm guessing you haven't seen this one.
Touche, good sir. I didn't even know this existed on the Wii. Which then begs the question, why does it? I'd rather play the GC version sans waggle.

Hmm, though the game interests me somewhat, it doesn't seem the gameplay is that great, and as if someone else mentioned, if the story is just a side-note, it may not be my thing.

As the OP mentioned though, I am currently enjoying Brave Story despite the critics.
Is it an SRPG? I can't refuse if it's an SRPG.
Kinda like PoPoLoCrois. Has a JRPG overworld, but when you get into battle the scene takes on the landscape with randomly placed enemies. Battles aren't that difficult and story is a bit lacking. I'd say it's a little better than PoPoLoCrois, the environments are beautiful.

I didnt think the game had an OVERWORLD.. its just one city where you just keep going into a random dungeon... got mine for around 10 shipped new when it first came out off an ebay buyer..

Found if very fun when i started playing.. Put it down and started playing something else. when i went back to it i hated it .... its mostly a love it or hate it game

there was really only one copy around where I am... and no used. I had to bite at $15 for it.

it's in great shape for being a 'new' copy...

Huh. Kind of interesting. I'd definitely buy it if not for the backlog. Fair price, and it's a solid looking, kind of interesting game. I *love* that it's actually a retail release too, and not some DRMed up crap that's seemed to consume 90% of the non-huge releases anymore.

Popolocrios had a nice normal turn based based battle system though, if I'm remembering right. That's one of the few non-Sakaguchi RPGs I've actually liked in recent years. Something pleasant and fun about both the gameplay and story (and graphics for that matter).

Don't forget Chulip (Natsume) and Chaos Wars.

Yup PoPoLoCrois is more like a turn based battle, but it has the whole grid moving concept that this game has. Adventures to Go! probably is closer relating to a Final fantasy tactics type game than PoPoLoCrois is, but they definitely both have a tactical turn based battle to them. Think of it like... Dragon Quest (Turn Based) -> PoPoLoCrois -> Adventures to Go -> Final Fantasy Tactics.

This game's random battles occasionally seem to drag on a bit, but it's not too bad. The most difficult thing about it [which is kind of why I like it] is that there's no FAQ for it. Kinda nostalgic. As I said, the environments are really well done and I haven't seen much recycling yet, but I'm only 2-3 hours in.
