PS3 120GB + 46" Sony Bravia 1080p Bundle $998 @ Sams Club

Edit: ok, I found the model number it's KDL-46VE5. Turns out I got the KDL-46V5100 yesterday so I have to decide if I want to swap them to get this deal.
holy. shit. we just bought that tv last night at best buy. I believe it was around $1199. It was bad enough that I looked at the best buy ad for next week to see that they put it on sale again but with a free blu ray player and now I see this, damn.

My only question is we bought the newer V series but I can't find if this one is V or S, anyone know? Also, do you think Best Buy would actually match this?
All you could do is try. They usually match stuff.

This is the ve5, its 120 hz. No best buy won't price match "free" items. You can just return it though. Might have to pay a restocking fee.

I'd give price matching a try, and if they try to deny it just ask them what the restocking fee is. This is not a 'free' item, it is purchasing two items each at a reduced price... atleast that is the argument I would try to make. There are a couple possibilities, 1) they PM it, 2) the manager tries to compensate in some fashion (free service plan for example), 3)you find what the restock will cost so that you can make sure you have the cash/credit on hand for the one from Sam's =D.

edit < Forgot to say, this is an awesome deal too. My mother in law just bought a T.V. that is at least similar to this, but I doubt they care about getting a cheap PS3.

Thanks for the help guys, but yeah it's not the same model but the vE5 is rated better then the v5100 and has better contrast ratio. I already have a Ps3 and all but this just seems like a good deal.

hmm i believe i posted a similar deal back in Turkey Day. a 5100 tv and a ps3 slim going for 999 on sonystyle.com
This is the ve5, its 120 hz.
However, if this is the 120hz tv, this is a nice deal.

If you dont have a ps3 and a hdtv, your justification should be HIGH DEFINITION GAMING AND BLU-RAY.
With a ps3 you can watch blu-rays and with the tv...well, you can play/watch tv in hi-def :)

Not mentioning the release of God of War 3 and MAG for the ps3 along with the great exclusives this 2010.

CAG, unless you are actually going broke, your bank is takin your house/possessions away from you, you are now homeless, you are having twins, your money was stolen from the bank, or something silly like that,
you really have no reason to skip this deal.
So in store you can get the TV for $699?
No, it's all in one big box. I was just doing the math for the lazy.

Thanks. I can't justify a PS3 outside of the Show 10, and GOW 3. Those would be the only two games I pretty much buy for the whole year.
So.. what's the consensus on this television?

Good quality?
It's a decent TV, and for the price on a 46" TV, a pretty good deal.

It's not a top-end TV, though I don't think people would have any issues with the PQ on it.
seems like a great deal if it is 120hz. wish i didnt have a ps3 and tv so i can get this..
From the description: "Here is Sony's ultimate gaming combination! The BRAVIA 46” 120Hz 1080p LCD HDTV and PlayStation3 120GB system brings together two popular electronic units for your viewing and gaming pleasure."
might be all over this if they had one at a local store.
If you want it, then I would check back on the site in the middle of next week. If I'm right, then this bundle is for their Super Bowl promotions.

Great deal, but not going to upgrade from my current gaming monitor and PS3 till a 3D HDTV is reasonably priced this year.

I have this TV and I like it a lot. The blacks aren't perfect but you have to go the plasma route for perfect blacks anyway. For the money this is a really great TV.

Really nice deal. I will pass because I'm actually trying to sell my 42" Plasma right now to get a little smaller tv for my room, but it's not bad at all. Sam's Club has a little bit better quality tv's than Walmart, don't they? I remember walmart used to sell crap tv's.

That's unlikely.
So.. what's the consensus on this television?

Good quality?
Yes. Even the "lower quality" Bravia's are better than most TV's out there. I have a 46" 1080p Bravia (KDLXBR2) and it looks as good--if not better--than most of the sets coming out today.
That's unlikely.
i heard that new sets of tv's come out after march.
Then the new ones become overpriced and the old ones become..well, cheaper.

unless that is what he is lookin for, yeah it is unlikely

SonyStyle had this really good deal over the holiday, unfortunately, their customer service/shipping policy blows. They had a 52" 240Hz 1080p LCD (KDL52XBR9), 5 Channel Dolby surround home theater system, and a stand-alone blu-ray player all bundled for around $1900.

I had the customer sevice rep on the phone, I had the whole order nearly complete, and I asked her if she would please set my order to ship after 12/28. Then that's where things went down hill. She said that there was absoutely no way to change the shipping date _later_. Yes, that's right, _later_; not earlier mind you.

My wife and I were out of town for the whole week of Christmas and Sony insisted that they had expedited shipping, so they could only deliver it by 12/24. I didn't have any other family member that I could have shipped it to. In retrospect, I guess I should have tried to ship it to my mom's house, but she's always out and about, so I couldn't trust her to be there (it's kind of rude anyway to ask someone to sit at home all day and wait for your TV while you're having fun on vacation).

I even tried calling while I was on vacation and even on the 23rd, they still were unable to give me a date of 12/28. The sale supposedly lasted till the 26th, so I was told to call on the 26th. I did, and low and behold, they told me that the home theater system in that bundle was permanently out of stock, and they could not substitute any other model and give me the same price.

I'm still in shock that they would throw away $1900 because they couldn't accommodate their customer's needs.

These are leftovers from a holiday promotion. Your local WM store may still have the bundles instock as well. Not likely but possible.

If it says it's there, it usually is unless they sold out during the day (they update inventory prior to opening). If you're worried, I would call.

Thanks I hope I can get it also, do you know if its 3d capable?

That's a FANTASTIC DEAL considering the price of a PS3 is $600

oh wait, this is 2010.

Meh, I guess it's an ok deal if you want the TV and all, though in my opinion they are likely "giving" away the PS3. Thanks for posting the link. It'd be an awesome deal if it was the bundle for 700 bucks.

Meh. I'll bite tomorrow. I'm in the market for a 120Hz 1080P LCD TV and this one seems to be pretty high quality. A "free" PS3 is a nice bonus. Too bad I can't seem to find one in-store local.

I went to the store and said that the deal is over and the las one was sold yesterday also they dont have it anymore in other clubs
Such a good deal, someone have $1000 they can "loan" me? I think I can cover the tax, no sweat. :bouncy:
^^ LOL'd

After all these holiday deals (I got 360 and PS3 bundles and games for both), this is about the point I'm at too. I suppose its a good position to be in though :)

so you expect a 120hz 1080 46" inch Brand Name TV for 700?

Where you from? the future?

Seriously good find OP. If there was someone out there in the market for a PS3 and an upgrade to an hdtv from an analog one man is this the deal for you. In case anyone is willing to try and Im sure there are, this is the BB equivalent to the Sam's Club TV

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Sony+-+...HDTV/9223805.p?id=1218062425347&skuId=9223805

The BB version is on sale for $1199.99 right now but boasts a lower dynamic contrast ratio and a slightly higher contrast ratio which I dont think means much but Im sure theres some TV guys that can expand on that.

Actually, I think this is a better comparison. This is the exact same model only smaller. The price is $1 more than the deal with the PS3. You're getting a 6 inch larger TV and a PS3 for a dollar cheaper. Very nice price.

I picked up this deal yesterday thanks to this post and I gotta say the tv is fantastic. This is an upgrade to my 26" Sanyo HDTV so it's also doubling as a computer monitor. It might hurt my eyes being this close to a huge monitor but I don't care!

Do they happen to have the TV by itself for less? I already have a PS3 slim and don't really need another one and I'm currently looking at 42" sets but if I could find this for a little bit more I'd go for it.

Where is it printed that the TV in this bundle is the Sony KDL-46VE5?

It sounds like it's the same ("presence sensor" and 100,000:1 contrast) but according to Sam's the TV only has 3 HDMI when Sony lists the 46VE5 as having 4.

Another question: Does Sam's have a payment plan option for their TVs, or is it just their in-store credit card?
hey i was wondering if this deal was online only ?
No. It's in store and online. Although, from some of the reactions it's kind of YMMV.

You can put in your zip code to see if they have one in stock.

Mine from this deal has 1 hdmi in the back and 3 on the side. Also another plus no one has mentioned is that these two products work great together. I was able to use the tv remote with the ps3 in a snap with one option changed on the ps3, awesome!

Unless Sam's Club offers financing for their TVs, I'm going to have Ultimate Electronics price match this deal. (They said they would, but they don't carry PS3s. The best they can offer is the BDPN460 Blu-Ray player, which doesn't have WIFI capability or internal storage. Me no likey.)

Is everyone who has the 46VE5 quite happy with it? Or does it have the same problems (red flashes) as the 46V5100?
