I highly recommend these games. I've played through the first and halfway through the second, it's one of the best RTS's out there.

Great price for one or all three. Even though I have hard copies of the first two, I'm going to pick up the whole pack on Steam. The website isn't displaying correctly for me right now though.

Oh man I was JUST thinking about this game.

I just wonder if the expansions are worth it? $5 seems a no brainer but $12 I dunno... anyone got an opinion?

Wow, this is a phenomenal Steam deal.

CoH is one of the best RTS games I've ever played.

I can't speak for Tales of Valor, but the first two games are a must. For an extra $5 I'm willing to check out ToV since the first two were so good.

Great deal! Though I'm a little hesitant to pick up the whole set since ToV has a low metacritic score. I might just jump on the gold pack.

Took a look at metacritic for ToV since there was a large disparity in the scores. I gathered that the main issue with ToV was the amount of content relative to the retail price ($30). Basically more of a good thing, but some reviewers want a full on sequel.

At the steam price of $5 for ToV (relative to gold edition) tho, I can't imagine that anyone would have any serious complaints. And if you are picking up the first two you might as well grab ToV, get a bit more content and support the devs even more.

Any idea if I would be able to use my old CoH account if I rebuy them on steam? I'm missing ToV but I own the previous games at retail. $12 for all of them is a steal.

I don't own the games, but the Steam forum has a sticky thread that confirms that you can link your old cd-keys to the one you have on Steam. Then you just buy ToV and only need to boot that up to play the other games on Steam.

I gathered that it wasn't just the lack of content, rather that the content that is there is mediocre. Essentially three campaigns that you should finish in a few hours, and three new indistinct multiplayer modes that no one plays.

Think I'll pick this one up, bought the retail Gold (original game only, just patched) for $10 and haven't played it much, but wanted all the expansions anyway and for $12.49, I might as well just sell/give my original copy to a friend and play it on Steam instead.

Just a heads up though that apparantly, the patching process for the Steam versions is very inefficient, and it basically replaces almost all the game files (around 8GB I guess, not sure if that includes expansions though) when a patch for it is released. It's almost a deal-breaker for me, but for the price, I think it's worth the trade off.

If you play COH in multiplayer, then TOV is awesome. If you're just in it for the single player, stick with the original and the first expansion.

I contemplated on just getting the Gold Pack, but then decided to bite on the complete COH Pack for $12.49. For $5 more...why not? TOV campaigns might not be as long as the others, but I'm sure they and some of the new content is worth $5.

Thanks OP!

Oh wow, I had been looking at this during the holiday sale and lamenting that the complete pack wasn't on sale. Definitely will pick this up!

Try to patch the game without going through steam. It's a clusterfuck of mess. I'd rather have an entire swap out than the pain of downloading, and applying a series of patches.

If you havnt bought these already now is the time. That is dirt cheap. I bought everything for a total of $37.50 with no regrets. Hell Id buy it again if I had a friend I wanted to give it to.

I heard these games were pretty good from friends and gaming websites, do you think I'll enjoy it even though my only RTS experience is StarCraft?

I bought all 3 games at retail price on day of release (which I almost never do) and I don't regret it. If you have even a passing interest in real time strategy games, you'd be insane to pass on this deal.
The Eastern Front mod was just released that adds the Russian Army into the mix.
can you use mods with steam games? my experience with steam is limited, but doesn't it kinda combine everything into one big file?

are these games RTS w/ base building? What's the gameplay like - controlling units and base building? I've never played but have heard a lot of praises on the games and they've been on sale a few times. I enjoy WWII stuff and saw CoH goes through some familiar events..

CoH is $5
CoH + 1st xpac is $7.50
complete is $~13

so I could save a few dollars and just get CoH or the Gold pack. Are there features in Valor that I would be really missing out on similar to Civ IV where if you get the final xpac it is basically all the previous games anyway? I know $5-7 isn't a whole lot, but for just an on-the-whim purchase I don't want to go overboard haha. BTW I did not like Dawn of War II 40,000k too much if that makes a difference. Also Starcraft was my main RTS interest haha. Is there enough content in CoH w/o xpacs - I don't plan to play MP either.

OMG, I couldn't agree more. Isn't there like 8-10 patches just for the original CoH?

I have a rather beefy PC, and I recall my last install of the disc version + patches taking nearly half an hour, and I all the patches downloaded beforehand! I think some of the patches have to actually uncompress some of the larger game files to apply themselves, so they take forever to install. Screw that.

Count me in for one.

thank you for posting this- I guess I'll bite- I have the original two, but not the last - but not dealing with patches is win.

COH has base building, but it doesn't focus on it as much as games like Warcraft and Starcraft, gaining and holding strategic points on the map is more important. These are the same developers that made Dawn of War II so it will be a similar style RTS (haven't played DOW 2 yet).

Also the first Dawn of War.

Actually, it doesn't play anything like DOW 2. If you played DOW 2 you would know that. :p

It plays more like the original Dawn of War games.

how much was TOV durring the xmas sale? Its the only game of the 3 I'm missing and if this is cheaper I might pick it up.

Was addicted to this game for some time. Seems like a great price for a fantastic game. Im fighting to keep myself from buying this.

It was this price at some point during the holiday sale, if not through the entire thing.

Crap. I'm in for the whole pack.

Considering I bought close to $100 worth of games during the holiday sale, and I think I've played 5 minutes of one of the games so far, I need to start playing some of these.

I'm so tempted, but I think I'll wait for a cheap boxed version, as that'll ensure 100% compatibility with all the CoH mods.

^ I learned that the expansions aren't really the kind of xpacs that need the original. They're all stand-alone expansions like Guild Wars. So yeah you can just buy the other two and play those campaigns.

ANyway I bought the gold pack, since ToV was $5 more and seeing how it was rated lower, I figured $7.50 is good enough for two games. Esp since I'm mostly interested in the main game's missions but saw Operation Market Garden in the 2nd, I was like sure why not for $2.50 =)

By the way, if anyone is in it for the multiplayer only, just get Tales of Valor. Apparently it includes all multiplayer content from the three games.
say I have the original version (non-steam) can I buy the two expansions off steam?
If you're in the US region, buying both expansions ends up costing the same as just buying the complete package anyway, so you might as well do that and get the extra cd key to give to a friend.

But yes, they're standalone, and furthermore Company of Heroes is setup in such a way that each of the 3 standalone games includes all the content of the others, it's just a matter of which CD Keys you have that control what gets unlocked. In fact, Steam sticks everything in one folder even if you have all three games, and runs the same .exe no matter which game you choose off your Steam list. Having Steam "download" either of the expansions once COH is downloaded only takes seconds.

So if you buy either or both of the expansions, you'll be able to type in your original's CD key / use your old Relic Online account, and basically have a Steam copy of the original too. Though I think Company of Heroes shows up as a locked "preload complete" title in your steam list if you buy the expansions without buying it, if that would bother you.

You'll also be able to download the gigabytes and gigabytes of patches for your original COH and then use the keys off steam to play the expansions on your boxed copy, if you don't like steam. Though this is a game that really does away with the differences between Steam and a retail copy, since you have to login to a Relic Online account to play anyway.
