In one of the boldest Nintendo DS statements from a credible source to date, Enterbrain President Hirokazu Hamamura has claimed that around 30 titles for the intriguing device will be on show at this year's E3, smashing previous estimates that put any unveiling line-up at well below the 15 games mark.

Speaking to Reuters, Hamamura-san said that, as well as the massive line-up of games, the DS will come equipped with out of the box touch-screen functionality. "This will be a product unlike anything available right now and it will come with a touch panel," he said, confirming our exclusive news from earlier this year that the device would see this implemented.

Game.com had a touch screen. Hint: Game.com pretty much blew goats.
maybe i missed it but what exactly was your point?
That's nice but but what about the price there's no way i'm paying more than a $100 for another gameboy .
Same here. No way I would pay more than a 100 for any handheld device period.

I think the psp will be too expensive, but at least it is supposed do more than just play games.

If it is a pda or a camera then the price seems more reasonable.

I curious if Nintendo is going to sneak wireless into the DS, considering that they already have similar hardware that is shipping with Pokemon Leaf/Fire.

i hope they dont overstuff it with things other than whats required for gaming. u could have seperate add ons for cameras and wireless things in the future, but attaching it to the system would make the price go up. i dont think i'd pay too much for what i would only use for a portable game system, the $100 for the gba sp just about cuts it for me. either way this could b a really good system with some original games implementing the touch screen and dual display, i just hope nintendos learned something from nokias try.

My point was that the touch screen thing isn't groundbreaking and should be viewed as just another gimmick (like the Power Glove).

As EggViper might say above, it's something that's not required for gaming.

Someone's overlooking the obvious that the touch screen would contain controls for some games which would mean that it's exactly for gaming.

either way, i'm not getting one, since a portable's screen is too small for my eyes.

I don't know, I'm all for trying new systems, but if I do get it, it won't be till atleast Christmas, which is a long time away. About the Game.com, I find tibits of info about this (handheld?) device, but nothing solid. Could anyone tell me more about it's just overall specs? And I thought PSP was supposed to be $199.

The thing is, the hardware can't be all that expensive, or Nintendo is really pushing it... the wireless adapter that works with Pokemon Leaf/Fire was a pack-in.

It has been confirmed that it will have wireless multiplayer... up to 16 players if I remember correctly.
