Problem with HDTV and Max Payne

For some reason, I can't play Max Payne 1 on my HDTV while using the OG Xbox. The game plays the opening video, then it disappears and the TV says "No signal available" and it doesn't come back. I am using the official Microsoft Component cables. The game worked on my 360 fine, but I wanted to play it on the Xbox since I can't remember what was happening in the game. I have tested several other games and none of them have this problem. It's not the disc, because I tried it on two different Xboxs and the same thing happened. Does anyone know what the problem is? Could it be the cables affecting just this one game? I'm really not sure what to do.

I was just having a similar problem with a PS2 copy of Fatal Fury Battle Archives Vol 2 that I just bought from Blockbuster. Trying to play on a fat PS2 connected to an HDTV via componenent cables made the game cut out after the intro screen, but it played perfectly on a BC PS3 connected to a non-HDTV with component cable. The disc is mint so your comment about cables got me thinking and here is what I found out. I connected a spare PS2 Slim to an older TV with standard A/V (composite?) cables and the game played fine. The same PS2 Slim connected to the HDTV via A/V cables also played fine. The Slim connected to the HDTV with component cables failed again. So I have to figure that some games made for 2nd gen consoles just don't mix with component connection to late model (Hi-def) TVs. I've returned games to GameStop that gave these symptoms before and had the clerk say "It must just be scratched in the right spot" before they gave me a refund. I've seen this problem now with PS2, Xbox, and GameCube games. Now I know what to try when it happens again. You may want to try A/V cables instead of Component.

That's bizarre. I'll try my regular cables and see if Max Payne works then. Thanks!
