Original Thread: http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=252608

Pros:
- Color is pretty much identical
- Manual clips hold the manual more firm than a normal case
- Disc is easier to get out as it has the "push button" release

Cons:
- Spine edge of case is matte finish. It if more rough to the touch. There are a few legit 360 cases that are similar but normally they are smooth.
- Case is harder to open. It makes a "click" sound instead of the normal "thud" of a legit case.
- Disc is harder to get IN to the case. It has the push button release but you have to push pretty firm to get it in.
- Case feels a bit cheap. Not that bad when the game is in the case, but it is noticeable.

Overall I am happy-ish with the cases. Can't really complain for the price and they will be a good replacement for broken cases or ones you get from the store that have stickers + security stuff on them.

Overall I give them a 7.5 / 10

1. Take a guess which one is the meritline case.

2. Spine images.

3. Close up of spine. Take note of the gritty finish on the new case.
3.jpg
4. The plastic on the new cases kind of bubbles on the edge. Not noticable when there is a game in there.
4.jpg
5. Inner part of Vesperia + New case.
5.jpg
6. Two tester games in their original cases.

7. MW2 in the new case w/ the original case next to it.

I dunno. Do you feel like I do that the differences in the boxes make it look or feel like you might have a bootleg?

I'd be worried if I got a box like that in a trade. Maybe I'm just picky?

Well, it is between that or a broken OEM case. The last 5-6 trades I have had, the cases exploded in the mail.

I at least wouldn't be happy if I receive a copy with third party cases like this from trades or buying used copies

No need to poop on the OP. These are great for replacements. I've had issues with cases breaking here and there, and sometimes I get used games with broken cases or no cases. I myself got some replacement PS3 cases. They're black instead of clear, but I think they work great.

Well, it is definitely a better alternative than the ones you sometimes get at Gamestop or other used games stores. Or ones that have a ton of stickers, etc... on them. Or for people who don't have a choice with a service like Goozex.

I keep my stuff it really good condition and it is frustrating when others don't do the same... But sometimes there isn't a lot you can do. Unless you are collecting... it doesn't matter as much.

I recently had a break in at my house, and 40 of my xbox games were stolen. Problem was - the cases were only for display! I had the games themselves hidden away! So I was looking to replace all of them, this will be perfect. Where do you find the covers for games? Do you print them?

I've been looking for double disc cases, either with a tray or double disc on the right panel, for the games I have two copies of, usually co-op or multiplayer, and obviously in green. I've found plenty of other color ones just not green ones.

google?

Not bad, OP. Might have to consider these. Anyone ever find anything really good on eBay as far as 360 cases go? I've gotten some good cases for various other things (mostly for movies from rental place sales) on the cheap. Suppose that might be another good source, though, I've had various degrees of success.

Great pointless post.

I use photo paper to print them & cut them with a paper trimmer.

I print them at Fedex Kinko's. It's 59 cents a page and they print it on semi-gloss paper that I think it pretty close to the original case art.

Anyway, just an alternative in case your printer sucks or something.

Some Kinko's will raise a stink about copyright if your bringing scans of the original art. Once they wouldn't print a cover because it had a barcode, but printed the one that just had "not for resale". Got tired of the hit/miss and just started hitting up Office Depot.
Damn, I was very interested in a 10 pack for $2.30, but the $6.60 shipping turned me away.
I feel you my shipping was 9.xx so i decided not to bite

Ya it's not the greatest price for just 10 cases. I got 20 shipped for $12 which is almost .50 a case. If for some reason you need more it gets cheaper and cheaper.

Are you serious? That's hilarious! XD

Am I the only one who thought this man is a genius?

at the very least I know where to get replacements now. I bought MW2 from gamefly with and the case came broken/cracked in the corner.

If you guys ever pre-order from Best Buy, the 360 ones sometimes come in these cases. You get to keep them even if you cancel the pre-orders.

Also, BB promos like when they had Sherlock Holmes avatar costume + free ticket bonus for spending $20 on a Live product came with these too.

I've had to replace a case here and there that arrives broken or has one of those hard square hubs that I feel like I'm gonna break the disc trying to get it out. I prefer cases with the plush center hub. They seem to handle shipping about the best as well. I'm really beginning to hate those Amaray ones with the 2-piece hub (yin-yang shape) because the discs pop off so easily in shipping. With the gray platinum hits cases stacking up, I don't think it makes much difference if I have to use a spare regular DVD case that I have laying around.

For some reason when I read the title, I thought this post was about the actual 360 console's case, but then I couldn't see why anyone would need 10 of them at a time or why they were so cheap. #-o

Another vote for TheCoverProject.net for replacement covers. I get mine done at Staples and have never had to deal with copyright issues. :)

I've found myself with loads of issues with original 360 cases breaking. I never had this much trouble with PS2 cases (and certainly not PS3 cases, although those are a bit smaller and differently shaped).

Do people just take less care of their 360 games than others or are they just that flimsy?

Remember Gamecube game cases? Those things were rock solid, and had the security thing built in. I miss those. =(
It seems like microsoft is just trying to save money any way you can now. That MW2 case is very lacking.
It's supposed to be more "enviro-friendly," or whatever the hell they want to call it this month. The actual cases themselves are a lot thinner feeling as well.
Are you open for bargaining on the price,
Or it is just fixed?
Not sure how to respond to this... I am not selling the cases. I posted a deal from an online store that I got in on.

Nice. They feed into the new "fad" so they can save on money... genius! You know... cause the hardware for the games cost so much... like... $.30 per game. :)

...what? :whistle2:s

The OP isn't selling the cases...
I suppose you could ask meritline.com if they're open to negotiation though.

Guys just a hint... Check with your local video store... I worked at Movie Galley for a while and they just throw away alot of game cases... I used to ask the boss for them and I have about 200 mix of wii, ps3 and 360 cases with artwork.

Some employees at Gamestop also give you them if you ask for it.

Gamecrazy as well came through this way for me last week. Got a new 360 case and cover art for Overlord. Now I'm just trying to hunt down the instruction manual. Any tips or suggestions for instruction manuals?

Thanks for the thread OP. With the increase use of these crappy "green" cases, getting sturdier cases will become a priority. But for now, I just plan on switching cases; giving the games I don't care much for the crappy cases.
Am I the only one who thought this man is a genius?
It is brilliant. You almost feel bad for the thief when he goes into GameStop with all of them only to find every single one is empty.

How do you guys get the covers to print the right size? When i print them they are always stretched or too small...and if I shrink them they get blurry. Help!

Thank god for this alternative. And the OP for pointing this out.

I was getting sick of 360 games coming in those awful cases with the holes on the front and back of the cases.

+1 for the cover project. What I really like is the fact that they have photoshop templates for all the systems for making your own case art. There's some great stuff user created.

Yeah, cover project is awesome, just wish I had a printer. But found a local printing place who will print me a cover for 89 cents each.
