Brutal Legend PS3 $23.09 @ Amazon
Not from Amazon, but still an amazing deal. This is a criminally underrated game.
That's because most people are expecting a heavy Action game, not a lot of RTS style gameplay. I was one of those people.

This game is one of the best games I've played in awhile. I picked it up @ Best Buy for $20 & I do not regret my purchase in the slightest. This game has quite a bit of depth to it. Moreso than I was expecting anyways.

FWIW it's 19.99 plus tax through 2/28 at best buy after the $20 coupon available through their Gamers Club, which is free to join.

edit: 360 and PS3 both

Dammit. There isn't a best buy around here yet. They're in the process of building one and it won't be done until the summer.

Thanks for the heads up, never shop at Best Buy ever since Amazon started matching deals, but $20 sounds pretty decent for this game.

just got this game at BB for $19.99 last week, can't decide whether to open it or not. Might as well though if it's selling for 23 new

Actually the game is horrible.

The actual game itself is about 7 or 8 hours tops, its only overall longer because it is fluffed out with a ton of "side missions" that involve you beating up a small group of the same guys each time, sitting in your car shooting at stuff below you, driving over animals with your car or racing your car. But since each encounter is exactly the same and the car handles like a shopping cart with overly tight wheels this ceases to be fun after 3 tries.

The story is paper thin at best with a very "because we said so" theme to it all as the game is poorly told and characters poorly characterized. Your thrown into a world that has no explanation besides the game telling you its awesome, none of the characters are well developed the game just tells they are bad ass, funny or evil with no real sense of them being that way because they were properly introduced or very well written. When the credits roll you know exactly as much as you did before the game was unwrapped.

The RTS elements are just thrown together and have absolutely no strategy other than "max out units and send them to kill evil guys".

Voice acting is horrible across the board. Its like they sat around saying they wanted people who sang in metal bands from days long gone and have longer since been burned out like lita ford to try and act of all things but didnt pay attention to the fact that everyone could have just phoned in their lines and been done with it. Even jack black was still being the same old highschool idiot goofball he always is.

Whole game was like they gave different duties to far few people that didnt know how to do it really and split them all up. Like story for one group, RTS stuff to another group, art design to another group and so on and then just locked them all in seperate rooms without being able to talk to the other groups and said "Ok dudes make a metal game! Rock on!" and then slapped it all together into brutal legend.

Brutal legend could definitely see good idea island on the horizon but early on the whole boat went the wrong direction and ended up crashing onto half assed peninsula.

Most baffling thing though is this suffers from idiots syndrome that grand theft auto had where people say how great the soundtrack is. I never understood this since all they did was take a bunch of songs other people have already done and put them in the game, how does that make it a good soundtrack? If all the songs were original and recorded just for this game then yes its a good soundtrack, but thats not the case, they took the easiest way out possible they took what other people have already done and just stuck it in.

I knew it would be a mediocre game. Psychonauts was also pretty average. But if it's cheap enough, why not? $20 was cheap enough to satisfy my curiosity, heh.
Check your local Blockbuster Video. They dropped their used price to $9.99. Courtesy of the BBV trade in thread.
New price is $19.99 if you want to go with new.

Tempting, but I may hold out a bit longer to knock down my backlog a bit. $20 seems like a fair price though.

Good deal for an amazing game. Best of 2009 as far as I'm concerned. The kind of people that didn't like it are the same idiots that buy the yearly Call of Duty game and act like it's the second coming.

Or think that Uncharted 2 is the second coming. I admit that I liked how it played like a movie, but people give the game wayyyyy too much hype.

$23 is a good price for a flawed, but overall original and pretty fun game. Just a heads up for anyone interested and who doesn't mind a used copy of this. I picked up a copy today at my local Blockbuster used for $9.99 from there used games clearance bin. No manual, but I did get the original box art and the disc was in great shape. My Blockbuster had several copies as well, but I'd imagine this is a big YMMV with many BB stores going out of business as of late.
