This topic must have discussed hundred of times, but with new stuff/toys come out now a day, it's fun to discuss this again. The idea is the same, how do i come up with a cool/cheap racing seat/set?

I was doing some research and there's what i've found:

$130 shipped (bare bone)
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250559393050&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

APIGA $200 shipped (no seat)

Playseat Evo $300-$330 shipped (complete cockpit)
http://www.amazon.com/Playseats-Evo..._1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1267629643&sr=1-1

OBUTTO $279 + $85 = $364 shipped (complete cockpit)

Personally, i think the APIGA one looks really good. OBUTTO needs to have special orders and they will not ship until April (i contacted them over the e-mail).

cool, thanks, i'll look it up when i get home... i guess i'm not playing any games tonight, so errr, read up on the driving seats

I know this doesn't contribute much to the discussion, but I thought you guys might find these setups interesting. I got to play around in these about 1 1/2 years ago.
Overpriced. You can get one with the real racing seat too for around $200-300 too I believe. Look on GTPlanet.
Sorry man, not seeing any deals there...
There's this Visionracers one, but it costs $900 :(
then there's a stand one, which looks dull and it's $150 :(

honestly, the apiga one from my eBay link is much better. Of course, I welcome any other cheaper/cooler alternatives.

I just updated with the OBUTTO cockpit, looks like a tough decision between Playseat Evo, OBUTTO and APIGA. I like APIGA's design, but quite pricey w/o the seat.

This is not exactly a play seat, but a much more compact way of playing driving games.

The site is owned by a small company that builds these stands for wheels that can be easily folded up and stored in a closet. I know a few people that play Gran Turismo use these instead of a full racing seat. I might invest into one once GT5 comes out.

I saw that one too in my research, but it's not an ideal choice for the price. Here's the price for the stand in US and Canada:

- Stand for Logitech wheels * = $ 149 with shipment.
- Stand for Microsoft wireless racing wheel for XBOX 360 = $ 159 with shipment.
- Stand for Logitech G25 = $ 179 with shipment.

As you can see, the APIGA is a much better buy than the Wheel Stand Pro. The APIGA has very good design, everything adjustable.

Just got my Logictech GT Pro heel last night, it's pretty good! Test drive the wheel on Burnout Paradise, it's a lot of fun. It actually makes turning/reversing a lot easier. I tested the wheel on a small chair, since i don't have a desk or coffee table between the couch and the TV.

It turned out that, i don't really need a fancy cockpit to enjoy the wheel nor the pricey wheel stands... All you need is some ideas to build one yourself :)

i have the playseats evo (black) with g25. its pretty nice. i dont have any other chairs to compare with. i havent used the wheel in a while (BP:p). but i use almost every day as the gaming chair. the biggest disadvantage is that if you want to mount the stick shift you need to have the $30 chair part.
