Ok. I know I usually try to say things arent that bad when it comes to Gamestop, but seriously..... WTF?? Last gen games as deals of the week? I know they gotta try to capitalize on God of War 3 but seriously, all I can do is facepalm over here.

I guess they have to do something with all those copies of GoW 1 and 2 that people traded in towards GoW Collection.

This is great opportunity for us, the PS3 owners. Most of us probably going to buy the GOD of WAR III and addition 35% off on used game is like cherry on the sundae
 
well, I guess people wanting to pick up GOW3 could grab a game, get 35% off (coupon and Edge), then return it at 50%+ trading value... Just a suggestion

Why not a 25% off GOW Collection with GOW3 purchase...that'd make more sense?
 
The coupon is good it just requires a little legwork. I'll be picking up God of war III and Demon's Souls with the coupon and then returning God of War.

Not really, people that are planning to buy GOW III probably already played GOW I and II. So 25 % off all used game is the better.

That's what people were doing to pick up Heay Rain cheaper by buying a new copy and using the weekly coupon to get the used copy of HR and then returning the new one and keeping the used one at the 35% off.

Would you do this by buying online then returning it with an online receipt or in-store? Wouldn't they hassle you for returning the game given the deal you took advantage of is clearly on the receipt?

Sorry, just paranoid - I've had similar GS experiences with this. Maybe it's just my local one. :\
 
Hopefully the used copy of Heavy Rain will still be at my local store when I go to pick up GoW 3, have lots of credit and a 50 dollar giftcard to use.
 
How would this work with a midnight release? Gamestop always cuts the rest of the store off and only allows you to purchase or pick up an already paid for copy at midnight.

I guess my best bet is to pay for the game before hand and try and use the coupon then?

I'm getting the game release day anyway, no reason not to score 35% off another game.
 
I'm not entirely sure, but I think they're going to discount whatever you saved on the used game from your return. I can't imagine them not doing it since that's how every other store in existance handles "_____ with purchase of _______" returns.

I had no problem doing it on the Heavy Rain promo, no questions asked. Got a used game for 35% off.

Personally it's a lot easier for me because I have trade in credit to cover the cost so I just ask for a gift receipt that way when I take it back they don't ask any questions and since it was originally paid with credit it doesn't matter that you only get credit back on gift receipt returns.

I did that as well and got demon's souls. They will open your unopened returned game btw.
 
does it have to be on the same receipt or you can just show your receipt for purchasing the gow3 coz I'm looking for new super mario bros for wii and I know it's going to be a while to find that game. Pls post if you have an idea or if you know sumtin. Thanks
 
Assuming the B2G1 isn't on the horizon or anytime soon, I may print up one of the 25% off coupons and grab another game if I go to pick up my copy of GOW3 I have pre-ordered. Of course, I'll probably return BOTH if I see the B2G1 is gonna happen and we get some advance notice this damn time.:roll:
 
You know, I was originally going to wait until this purported B2G1 to come up, but honestly 35 percent off one use game is actually the same (maybe even a few bucks better) than B2G1, which is a fancy way of saying "33 percent off of three same-priced games," right? I've been jonesing for ME2 and/or FF13, so if I can get this to work next week with returning GoW3 I might have some shopping to do. :)
 
Only a 3 day window on the coupon too. WTF is with GS these past few months? These coupons are ass! But also, thanks to them that I also haven't bought more than I usually do. Once there's a good coupon, I stock up on games. Now, not so much.

35% off with the coupon (and returning GoWIII) is about $3.00 more (no taxes involved), assuming you buy $54.99 games in-store.

B2G1F: $54.99 x 2 = $109.98 x .90 (10% Edge) = $98.98 / 3 = $32.99 per game
vs.
Weekly Coupon: $54.99 x .65 (25% Coupon + 10% Edge) = $35.74 a game

If you're only looking for 1 game, it's a great deal. If you're looking for 2-3, B2G1F is better and you save over $5, which is like a million dollars in CAGland.

That's right, I forgot about Edge on the B2G1 -- thanks for that. Pretty much the same, though, and especially if the 3 games I'd end up buying aren't the same price, might be worth my while to use this coupon deal instead. Hmm.

I think it's safe to say that this is their new trend. We will no longer see 25% coupons that don't require a purchase. Gamestop is desperate to get ppl to come drop full price on their "new" games.

Screw em. I'm getting GOW3 for $45 new at Amazon thanks to their excellent promotions, and I don't have to worry about it being gutted!
