Well I am getting tired of my 5 year old printer and would like to get up to date with a newer printer.

Right now I have the HP PHotosmart 2610 which I paid like 250 5 years ago. This beast was fast, fairly quite but would often shake whatever table it was on when printing.

I also have an epson R300 which I use to print color photos and it has a print on CD label feature which I like.

I did look at Cnet's recommendations

Officejet Pro 8500 wireless looks interesting.

This is what I am looking for.

A good all in one printer, with excellent photo printing quality (that matches the epson one)
Printer with a Print on CD label feature.
Wireless is not necessary but it is nice to have.
Something with a nice display screen to see pictures from a memory card.

I had an old cannon printer from 10 years ago that would automatically turn on when the printer received a print command and shut off completely after being idle for awhile. It would be nice to have a Wireless would be nice as it would allow for my gf to print from her laptop.
I don't know if this is a problem with all printers with scanners, but something where it is easy for me to remove the scanning glass so I can clean the other side so if dust does build up, I can clean it out instead of having scanner dust get scanned in a picture :(

I would like to buy this from Best Buy since I have about 160 dollars in RZC ready to go and I could get a 10/12 percent coupon.

Suggestions?
anyone?
I've been a PC gamer for over 20+ years. I have never had a printer at home. I either use a free public printer or outsource.

Hopefully someone will respond soon with some info for you. All I can tell you is check out these site for something inexpensive www.pricewatch.com

I've got the Canon Pixma MX700 and love it.

It prints photos very well and its scanner is pretty good as well. It has a LCD display for the menu/memory card (it does have a SD slot).

The only real "complaint" I have is that it isn't wireless, but it isn't a deal breaker.

Between my MX700 and Pro 9000 I'm really impressed with Canon's printers. I've had the MX700 for a couple of years now so I imagine they'll be a newer model by now.

I've got a Canon Pixma MP620, and I did like it. It prints great photos, but it also uses a lot of ink, but supposedly less than HP printers. Memory card slots, wireless, scanner/copier. But due to the cost of printing text, I also bought a Brother 2170W. Both of them together was about $200 and I'm happy with the two.

I have the same printer and have to agree. The ink costs quite a bit but the printer works pretty well.

I just got a Brother wireless printer/scanner/fax (though I never set up the fax).

I needed a new scanner on the fly, and since it was also a wireless printer, I was sold. I called up a friend of mine who recently had to buy a printer and he raved about the Brother 495. I have done no research into this at all (I was in a major bind), but I am thoroughly happy with it.

Hope this helps.

Is there any reason you need color printing, or the ability to print photos? What's wrong with using the print services?

Why do you need wireless? Many printers can be connected directly to the router, and all printers can be shared on a network.

Although my HP photosmart 2610 can be hooked up to the network, it can be a pain in the ass for the other systems to see it/use it.

I take it you guys don't like Epson or HP huh?

Umm I'm not a fan of Epson because I'm tired of dealing with their often-clogging print heads, but I've been using HP printers for a while. I have a HP Officejet, Photosmart, Laserjet, and an All-In-One. All serves what I want them to do.

I don't have any printer recommendations for you, but I just wanted to comment that putting stick on labels on your CD's is a bad idea. There is no way you can reliably get them on perfectly centered, which throws off the weight distribution of the CD. With drives spinning at 48x, an unbalanced disc can really put a strain on your drive.

Just use a sharpie, or go with a disc/printer system that allows you to print directly onto the disc or use one of the laser etching drive technologies.

The Epson Stylist Photo R300 series (and some cases higher models) have this tray that you stick in to the bottom front of the printer, and you buy the pre-printed cd's/dvdr's in and it will act like it is printing on paper. It has a very basic print on CD label software so you don't get that nice silkscreening you get with professional tools. Yea I read about how not pressing it properly could cause problems later on, that's why I went for this printer.
