Is it OK to do this for shipping stuff?

Ok I sold an item that's kinda too big for the envelopes that I have. So what I did was I took two of the envelopes, cut the left side open of one, and the right side of the other, and fused them together (with industrial tape) to make one big envelope. Now what I'm asking is what is the possibility something going wrong with it during shipping? thanks.

high. unless you used some crazy good tape.

Technically it sounds okay, but there are quite a few ebayers (I'm assuming that this is for ebay) who wouldn't be too happy with that. They might think that you are showing a lack of care, and truth be told, I'd feel a little peeved if I recieved an item in an improvised envelope. I'd go with a box to be safe, just so you don't get a negative saying that you packaged the item "horribly."

I'd also be a little nervous of sending something like that through the mail, let alone receiving something like that. Next time, box it up, or buy a bigger envelope.

...or even the padded envelopes at the PO. I know I wouldn't be too happy if I got an item in cut-up, taped-up envelope/package.

This reminds me about my friend who used to use an envelope as his wallet. One of those w/ the prepaid stamp and preprinted address too...

I'm usually so happy that the sheeite actually shows up in the mail and I didn't get ripped off. I could care less about the packaging.

A box would be ideal but i've both sent and rec'd stuff wrapped in two Pri mail boxes attached [very securely] and never had a problem. I'd be sure to take it to your PO in case there's an additional bulky item fee or something.
