Updated: This sale is active until the 24th, confirmed by an TRU employee.

Found out about this deal at Toys R Us today: Buy ANY one Xbox 360 or PS3 game and get a second one 40% off. I believe its this Friday and Saturday only.

This also stacks with this week's Splinter Cell: Conviction deal and the $5 off $25 coupons for April. I ended up getting SC:C and BFBC2 for $72.42 out the door.

Receipt looks like this:

SC:C = $55.82
59.99 - 4.17 (part of the $5.00 off $25 coupon)
BFBC2 = $11.17
59.99 - 39.99 (SC:C promo)
20.00 - 8.00 (40% off)
12.00 - 0.83 (part of the $5.00 off $25 coupon)

Subtotal 66.99 + tax = 72.42

Again??!?! There have been so many deals on cheapass lately! I am so... *sniff proud.

 but I am also overloading and now my backlog might as well be a game store! So I think....:bomb: I will have to pass. Unless I change my mind.

What does your receipt look like? Did they charge you full price for Splinter Cell and then have the discount only taken from the cheaper game? Or is the discount split evenly between both games?
Does this stack with Coupons? Like say $5 off ones?

:)
Yes! I forgot to mention that, thanks.

I used this week's $5 off coupon as well.

The 40% off is taken from the lesser priced game so I got $8.00 off the $20.00 I paid for BFBC2.

Receipt looks like this:

SC:C = $55.82
59.99 - 4.17 (part of the $5.00 off $25 coupon)
BFBC2 = $11.17

I will update the original post with this and the coupon.

Nothing really spectacular about these deals... Toys R US will have SC:C for $39.99 and EA Games had a $20 off coupon so these are your run of the mill retail prices.

Great! Well I have another question you might not be able to answer. See I want DJ Hero and I remember a $10 off Activision Coupon Image being posted. Does anyone know if Toys R Us Honored it? If so than I'm going run out and get DJ Hero + Resident Evil: Gold Edition as soon as I get positive confirmation.
where did you see this?

i got an email from tru and it says b1g1 50% off games 19.99 or less.
That deal is also active.

I saw and took advantage of this deal about an hour ago in store when I went to pick up my copy of SC:C and BFBC2.

Regardless of Dr. Negativity's option, this deal also works on ANY Xbox 360 or PS3 games so its a chance to save some extra cash on other titles people might be interested in.

I mentioned that it stacks with the SC:C deal because it was like an extra added bonus on top of an already good deal.

Whens SC:C become 39.99 @ TRU ?

why would you find the use of backlog annoying?

I find it annoying because who cares? I had pizza rolls tonight do you care honestly I think not.

Well, some of do like to play a few non-EA titles from time to time.....

You missed the point Toys R Us charges between 20-40% more , so naturally if you pay Full price for something , and then they give you 40% off , there still owning you by atleast 20-40%... The only exception is when they have a game that they feel is going to drop like a sinking ship.

Of course I don't care what you had to eat, it has no bearing on anything here

I just thought maybe you had a valid reason for suggesting that backlog shouldn't be used here, but I guess not.

Eh, another mediocre deal from TRU-- but good for SC:C I guess. Their games are usually overpriced anyway. Thanks though OP.
It's for Kmart actually.
Ah yeah thats what i meant , this thread is for toys r us , the AMP Energy is failing me

No, the point you seem to miss is that just because Splinter Cell is available for 40 bucks somewhere and EA had a 20 dollar coupon at one point doesn't mean this isn't a good deal - especially since at least where I live, TRU charges pretty much the same for most titles as every other retail store.

can anyone confirm this deal?

if it stacks with the splinter cell + $20 game offer + $5 off, this seems like a deal i'd have to take since i have to burn some reward certificates by the end of this month before they expire.

Are you kidding me? They charge ahole lot more , plus you factor in well here 8.25% sales tax , plus here $3.15 a gallon gasoline to get to and back.. Plus the fact that Ebgames just had a 39% off sale.. (FOR BOTH) not pay for one take it in the ass get the other at the price you should get both for... I never buy anything from Toys R US because there the most annoying retailer around.

I'm guessing you live in New York. There are a small number of TRUs (Time Square TRU, White Plains TRU and certain ones in Hawaii I believe) that overcharge their items because of the astronomical amount they pay for rent and upkeep.

This deal is for people that do not want to deal with buying things online, have TRU gift cards, and / or want to play new games immediately.

I live in Illinois used to go there all the time and never seen anything gamestop didnt beat by atleast 10% maybe more... and Gamestop almost always arrives at my door by 3 days sometimes 4...

Well, as I said, for the same titles NEW, I don't see them charging "ahole" lot more than other stores. Take that 39% off at Gamestop, buy Splinter Cell and, for example, Bioshock 2, and get them for 73 bucks or so (NEW copies, apples to apples and all that). Buy those this week at TRU, using both current promotions, and pay 72 bucks. Wow, sounds like I really took it in the shorts on that one. Gas and sales tax are really only relevant if you live in a state with sales tax (I don't, if you do, I'm sorry) and if you live far from the store (in my case, it's on my way home from work).
If you hate TRU for some reason, cool, don't shop there. Just don't crap on someone posting a deal because you either hate that particular retailer or you don't understand the deal. Me, personally, I shop around - my "store loyalty" is to whoever is giving me the best deal on what I am looking to buy.

No crapping from me ... Just trying to protect people from wasting alot of money. Toys R US is notorious for dropping prices or offering sales when they have a hunch that games are going to plummet to clean out inventory as most stores do , but they dont do it unless they feel they wont be able to sell the games overpriced anylonger.

I have found plenty of bargains at Toys R Us over the past few years. From their generous gift card promotions with the purchase of certain new release games to $5 clearance titles to the deal on DJ Hero this week which resulted in a lot of us getting the game for $35 after the two coupons. Toys R Us doesn't always have the best prices, but compared to other brick and mortar retailers, they are at least comparable and often a better deal, especially with their fairly regular B1G1 some percentage off sales every few weeks.

That's odd. Guess there are more TRUs that overcharge. TRU does get some games pretty late like you said.

Well either way, I guess some deals are much more attractive to certain people.

Yeah, true. That's why TRU has become last on my list. Usually find better deals on Amazon, etc. Even when TRU has $20 gift cards with a purchase of a game... I realized it wasn't worth it because their games are overpriced most of the time. :bomb: Sucks...

I was able to stack this with the DJ Hero and Tony Hawk Ride for 49.99 each. On top of that, I used the $10 coupons on each. 99.98 - 20.00 - 10.00 - 10.00 = 59.98 + tax out the door for both!

Oh the irony.

Good deal...have to think about grabbing Splinter Cell and BFC2 tomorrow.

a) Someone PLEASE link the $5 off coupon that stacks with this deal - I'd be extremely grateful.
b) If I pick up Splinter Cell + Modern Warfare 2 for $72.50, beat SC this weekend and trade it to Gamestop on Monday with MW2, I will get $33 (SC:C+EDGE) + $22 (MW2+EDGE) + $5 (2 game in Tier bonus) = $60.

$12.50 to rent SC:C is probably a good rental fee - considering it's brand new and not stocked anywhere I could rent it. Any thoughts? My math sound?

Just came back from the Toys R Us in Chino Hills, CA and they have the deal up.

Bad news is that they don't have any $5 Coupons and Do not Honor the $10 off Activision Coupon for (1) Purchase of DJ Hero. I kind of got the hint that there may have been other CAG members who asked the same questions as me and they wised up about it.

There's another Toys R Us on the way to the place I'm working at now. I'll try again there tomorrow. Keeping my fingers crossed. If anyone would like to know, California has a 8.25% Sales Tax. We get hit really hard here so any money saved is a good thing for us.

what kind of hint did they give you? i got denied earlier in the day because its a photocopy. i really wanted to get 2 dj heroes for 2 turntables for $70. i guess with this deal, 50+30-5=75 is not bad.

Maybe that was it. The guy at the video games section kind of had a roll your eyes kind of look without actually rolling them when I pulled out the print out of the $10 off Coupon. Also when I asked a girl at the front counter about the $5 off coupon she told me other people had asked about the coupon booklet before. Her boss confirmed that they had accepted a $5 off coupon that someone had brought in but that the store never received the Booklets.

Yeah, good point. I'm more interested in how much you pay in sales tax and how much gas costs in your area.
